I built my wire bucket from all the decommissioned units I took out. I pull all the wires out and save them.

A master of your trade. Impressive. I had to rewire a boiler the other day because some handyman added an ignition module and a transformer. It was a standing pilot with a thermal couple and they thought they could light the thermalcouple through the Spark. I’m not going to lie I did look at that wiring diagram a few times.

@@jthonn Yeah when I looked up the model numbers I was like this does not take an ignition module. Lol. Trying to light a thermal couple with a spark igniter. We definitely see some crazy stuff

that's funny, half a conversion to intermittent pilot. only missing the gas valve, flame sense pilot assembly, etc. may as well add some rollout protection and more safeties while at it.
that has me recalling everyone gutting the electronic ignition "junk" and replacing them with standing pilot setups in the 1990's. those would have been 1980's units that had failures.

Fantastic troubleshooting and repair. I used to have cascading problems on neglected RTU's on strip mall roofs and BARD unit's at cell tower sites in God forsaken mountain top locations ALL the time. Had to have a 55 gal drum of water with a motorized pump attached to clean coils out of there. No water available at those remote cell tower sites. I'm fortunate to be retired now and have to deal with all the headaches that kind of HVAC work required. Another great video Curtis! 👍🏾

People seem to assume electric motors just last forever with no maintenance, same with capacitors- both will fail, when the sealed "lubricated for life" bearings in the motor go bad the motor burns up, and when the capacitor goes bad it can also burn the motor up or it just won't run right.
We have a Delta dust collector at the shop by the table saw that has a start and run capacitor set, I could tell something wasn't right as it seemed to take 10 seconds to start up and ran like it was on half voltage.
I opened the cover over the capacitors and one was dripping oil, had the local electrician from whom we lease part of his building from get us a new capacitor, it came a week later (had to fit in the small case, so it had to be the right one going in) it ran fine, but a few starts later it was back like before and that capacitor was leaking now! And I wasnt hearing the centrifugal switch clicking, So I pulled the motor and took it to a motor shop and a week later it came back, put it in, worked ok for a bit then the capacitor was leaking AGAIN!
Sent it back to the shop and they said the contacts on the centrifugal switch in the motor- he adjusted a little and replaced the capacitor again and that fixed it. The motor was only 7 years old!
Seen plenty of capacitors at work go bad, tempted to say just replace them every say- 2-3 or so years regardless
