I always enjoy seeing films showing Redcar as it has been through the ages by film and later videos... In my youth the sand was at a much higher level, almost level with the promenade until that fateful year of the big sgtorms that washed away almost all the beach, exposing hidden skeletons of old ships...

I used to attend dances on the pier ballroom way back, it was cheaper to demolish than to repair so it had to go.
Some lovely pictures from a bygone age , I remember the pier ballroom , not sure why it was demolished though !
i used to like going to redcar now avoid it like the plague
