It's much better than the looping coaster!

I used to be a mechanic on this ride, and before the season opened we would have to grease the tracks and load the cars with sand bags otherwise it wouldn't have enough energy to make it all the way around. It would sometimes get stuck at the bottom of a loop. After we broke it in for a few hours with sandbags, we got a bunch of employees to fill every seat to test it. Let me tell you it was so fast it was tripping all the over speeds coming in at around 68 mph. Very rough ride at that speed and too fast. Gave my neck whiplash. I think normally it is around 45 or so which is better. Track is much smoother at the beginning of the year after we have replaced the rough track from last season (mostly at the bottom of the hills). If you want the roller coaster to go faster you need a lot of weight in the cars. This was a very well made ride that rarely gave us any problems.

@@taylordively4567 I should have said "it gets stuck at the bottom of a hill". I worked on both coasters and neither one gave us much trouble especially the metal one. I think I only got one or two calls for the whole season on the metal coaster.
I live in Washington and I recently went to wild waves for a field trip. My friends and I went on timber hawk like 7-8 times!! It's so fun

After not riding a coaster for 5 years or so, this was a lot of fun even cold (this May), but I imagine if you are used to world-class coasters it would be pretty disappointing. Did you try the back row? It has a lot more air on all the drops and was just more fun in my opinion. That first drop in the front seat though, it's much more intimidating than it looks thanks to the dive through the structure
Ryan Penrod Don't get me wrong, it's an ok coaster, just felt it could have been better given how good it looks! Yes I rode the back - that video is on my list to upload over coming weeks. It's certainly the best coaster at the park!
I do agree with everything you and David Ellis say about this rollercoaster, the beginning and middle sections are good but the end is pretty lackluster
I have ridden this one quite often, only because it is a short drive from my home, and I think it is the best one in the area.
What a strange layout!?! I love just about every wooden coaster, but I have to agree with the woman at the end who said, "It doesn't really do much". I bet it would be a good coaster for someone who has never ridden a "major" ride and is looking for a first experience that isn't too crazy.

Now that I am training to compete in alpine downhill ski racing, I'd probably be in high agreement with the woman. I still like riding coasters, but it would take an insanely fast and high coaster with lots of g-forces to even begin to feel any sort of rush. This coaster doesn't even look like it would wake me up!lol

I rode this October 2017 and it is fun if you like wood or just getting into wood coasters
I went on this thing like 20 times in a row as a kid with my step brother that beginning parts crazy cuz u feel like ur heads gonna smack against the wood since it's so low

Absolutely - the wooden coaster there is one of the finest airtime machines ever invented (I have POVs on that coaster and other PNE attractions on my channel)

It's part amusement park and part water park...there are various things to do in the water park but a lot of people were riding the coasters wearing their swimming costumes!

Just read online that the Thunder Road wooden coaster closes in July at Carowinds in NC/SC to make way for new expansion.The coaster goes thru both states.

They have 2 new wild rides that are very popular.One is Fast and Furious ( based on the movie with Paul Walker who died in a fiery crash in LA last year ).I can't remember the other ride,its new.

How long until Wild Waves gets a new coaster.. next year marks 15 years without a new coaster in washington.
They're in serious need of a new one. Something with actual thrill, height, and speed. This coaster sucks. It's slow, short, and there's no air time at all. And the Wild Thing is rickety and hurts. I would love it if they RMCed this coaster, got rid of Wild Thing, and replaced it with a megalite.
Late reply, but I was thinking the exact same thing, but instead of replacing wild thing, give it the PR treatment (phantoms revenge) Or add a B&M Looper in its spot, and put the megalite in that big plot of land they have near timberhawk.
The park is only 70 acres, which makes space severely limited for the park and the hilly terrain does no good.
boweryboy07 you know, RMC actually built this coaster. Also dispite its flaws i still love both this and wild thing. I'd be sad to see them leave. I'd much rather see them use the MASSIVE parking lot for something new.

I went here last year but didn't go on this ride because I was to scared :I I'm going again this year should I go on it? I can't stand drops or loops but it doesn't seem like this rollar coaster has it what do you think?
It's not a wild ride, so I think you should be fine on this one :-)
this was my first "big roller coaster"and found it boring after the first ride!!! but it's still decent and a fun time of your lucky to get the back seat !!!

Yes, the coaster is a unique layout...most wooden coasters are, which is part of the reason I love riding them
