Just shows the stereotype/assumptions that men go through when they’re in these situations. If it was a woman telling Jay she was raped then jay would have been so supportive but because it’s a man telling him he was raped Jay automatically says “why didn’t you try to stop him”. It’s disgusting that just because someone is a man that they are shamed when talking about their SA because they “should have been stronger”. Rape is rape regardless of gender and it’s never the victims fault regardless of how strong you think they are or how much you think they should have fought back. Doesn’t surprise me why guys find it harder to talk about this stuff when they’re faced with stupid belittling comments like these.

I don’t know where this “he’s (Lewis) isn’t that big” tf Lewis is huge, he’s nothing but muscle and he’s fucking tall, I get they’re trying to address rape myths but don’t lie to my eyes

Callum would be totally devastated to know that Lewis had attacked his husband in that way. Callum would want to kill Lewis for hurting Ben.

I just don't think Jay knew how to handle Ben being raped.

Yeah it feels kind of awkward and comes across as tho jay doesn’t believe him, which is quite sad cos jay is like his brother

The dialogue is so out of character, wooden and generic. Neither Ben nor Jay sounded like 'themselves' in this scene, and either could be replaced with any two random blokes and the scene would still sound the same. This topic/storyline deserved more.

This is sadly many people's reaction. As a man who has experienced it believe me I know.

      It’s unfortunately entirely realistic

People don't believe that boys/men can be SA'd. People believe that only women can be SA survivors, not men. It's not that it was written well, it's that people are like this generally when it comes to boys/men that are SA survivors.

This did not ring true for Jay's character it was not well written and another character should have been chosen for this set of lines.

This seems to be a knock off of David / Josh on Corrie. 🤔

Except its not. No soap has ever done this kind of storyline between 2 gay men. The sexual abuse in the LGBTQ+ community is usually completely ignored even though its rife.
