There is a middle ground between oversharing and revealing your emotions about everything and bottling up your emotions and denying the effects they have on you. There is plenty of evidence that men will often convert unresolved and unexpressed emotions into self-destructive (and other-destructive) behaviors like drug abuse, alcholism, being a workaholic, engaging in certain forms of risky behavior, etc. While we have gone too far in our society in overemphaszing sharing emotions and "whining" about everying or blaming everything on somebody else, the response should not to go backwards into bottling emotions up. Levels of intimacy and sharing exist in different contexts too; one shouldn't necessarily believe that the same approach and principles apply in every context.

I’m sorry, but Dana is missing it. A true man/woman contains the whole range of emotions, but channels them at the appropriate times.
There is a time to grieve, fight, laugh, protect, show mercy, love, cry, work hard, rest, be strong, be vulnerable, sympathize, show tough love, be courageous or walk away.
When we only express a few of the things, our family longs for the others and will seek them out in other men.

@@LRM5195 Being a good person alone is not enough for a man to survive. A woman can get away with that, because a man very well may come along and take care of her. But a man who is a "good person"- will not make it, if that's all he has to offer.

There is nothing wrong with being stoic. Most people don’t want to express their feelings because they were told it’s a sign of weakness.
Hey, Bob De Niro had no problem expressing his feelings about Trump. It backfired. Don’t be like Bob! 😂😂😂
I’m ok with not being forced to explain or express my feelings. People, a lot of times, don’t really care anyway. They just want to push your buttons. Especially if you’re a little angry.
