I lost my old aline doe yesterday, November 10th 2024, she was 14 and 4 months old. RIP Adessa. We have New Zealand due next week. I lost a 1st blue mom's with five four week old kits. The real life of homesteading. Thank you Heather for sharing. Till next time God Bless.
Those kittens are just to cute! Love seeing the baby bunnies, and of course the baby goats! Babies all around your homstead!!! Love it!! Thanks for sharing Heather ❤
Again, beautiful video Heather! Thank you for inviting us over. Sad about the bunny babies but very glad 2 made it. Such is the ebb and flow of life. 💜👍💜 Aunt Beth
The little kitten flop out of the cage was so cute! 😂💖 We had a bad hay year last year so our girls had to live on sticky straw hay and they did the same thing as your girls! Picked out anything good and left the rest and begged for better hay 😂 Love that the kids have a garden! 🪴
I love the garden heat mat with the little rodent cage trick. I have used a blow dryer on a low setting for a duckling that got stuck in a pool once. Your method is definitely less traumatic 😅 Thank you for another great video, Heather ✨️
It's been drizzly here all day today too, some bits of sunshine and then rain again. Can't complain! So glad Sausage did well on her first kindling, unfortunate about Delilah's but at least a couple were okay. Appreciate you sharing a tip on how to potentially save some if they get cold, while acknowledging it's a slim chance (but worth the try!). The cloth gobblers make me giggle, and the kitties are super cute. Cheddar looks like he's going to be feisty, and Mozzy looks like he's going to be affectionate like Monty hehe! 💚🐇🐈🐈⬛🐇💚
Those cats! LOL The kittens are adorable (of course they are!) and the older kitties just want to know what you're doing with things that look like something they might hunt in the fields. The goaties are looking great - Margot (aka Large Marge) is already looking more svelte with her putting everything in the milk and baby Gollum growing so fast! Sorry for the bunny kit losses, but so so happy with the new live ones! They'll for sure be fun to see as they grow. Hoping the other expectant Momma bunnies kindle soon and your rabbitry will be full of new life!
B-Doe is due tomorrow (Monday) and she was messing with her nest when I was down in the barn this afternoon! :) Jumper will be interesting to watch... She was very willing to breed when exposed to Father Abraham!!
Good morning! We’ve had trouble getting our meat rabbits started back up again. This summer’s heat was really had on our males fertility. Hopefully the cooler weather brings a higher sperm count and we start having more success.
I have taken baby bunnies who were still and cold and I thought were dead and put them in my bra while I finished chores... revived so many that way LOL
This year was the first time that I had rabbit meat. Interesting taste for someone who doesn't eat much meat lol 😂 and it was a rabbit bolognese, so 🤣🤣
My Dad taught me years ago to give the mom a hotdog or fatty meat right before she gives birth and she will eat that and not eat her babies. Works every time!
Started drizzling this morning here, but it held off long enough for me to get the deer prepped and to the processor. Hope it's doing it again in the morning.
Are you going to divide kits between doe's for even numbers or since the "big" litter is only 8 leave it as there is 8 teats to feed them? Surprising the first timer did that good, well done. Thanks for sharing.
What kind of litter do you use and food? Do you feed your kitties?? Sad about the bunnies, but thank you for tips. How do you make raising none meat bunnies worthwhile?? I am going back and forth with myself about raising holland lops. I love them but wondering if I am causing my husband more stress then helping.
If we can sell a few kits at $15 to $20 each that really helps make up for the food they eat. We are also experimenting with selling the furs and making things out of the furs, I can get 13 pompoms for hats out of one pelt. We do feed the outdoor cats, and they still hunt very well! They always have dry food out, and water. I had litter out with them but they don't use it. They go wherever they want lol
The Californian are where the good growth rate comes into the mix. The other rabbits are nothing special at all and expensive to feed out to full size, so I'm hoping breeding the two gets both color and decent growth rate :)
Hey heather! I wanted to know if you made the rabbit cages? I really need something better. I have now lost two bucks and a doe and I’m unsure why. Any advice on rabbits?
Lost like they got out of thr cage or they passed away? Have you made sure they were eating and pooping properly? If rabbits don't eat pretty constantly their digestive system can stop and it's hard to restart.
@@SageandStoneHomestead i had two bucks I had gotten from someone and I’m unsure what they were eating. But they lasted. Short time with me. The doe escaped for about a month and then I caught her. She lived for a couple days. They get hay and pellets everyday. I’m not sure if there is something I should give extra for the colder days. They aren’t traditional California they are mixed. To have the really soft pelts. But at this point, I think those might be better. The larger cages you have outside are amazing and was looking at having those rather than the ones I have now. They also weren’t taking to being bred as they did in the spring time. Maybe it’s the cold. It doesn’t get around 10-20 at night and the evening.
@TheHandyHoofHomestead I'm so sorry they died, sometimes it's hard to know what caused it. With rabbits usually it's a dietary thing but I've had them die of things like mastitis, gastroenteritis, and heat.
I raised rabbits when I was a kid and had a couple does that ate their kits. I have been very reluctant to raise them again because I don’t know why it happened. Is it normal for them to do that?
I got rabbits cause of yalls video a while back and they have been bread 3 rounds and all 3 females haven't had any babies. I'm getting frustrated. All females are about 1 and male is almost 2. We do see him have multiple fall offs.
@@brentonpickens1872 not if they were already breeding but if they've never bred it could be difficult for sure if they are overweight. It's hard to get them to lose weight the older they get
Maple syrup smell is NOT a sign of diabetes acetone smell is HOWEVER there is a another genetic endocrine disease that is especially prevalent in the Amish community it is Maple Syrup Urine disease- IDK if any animals can get it .
Yeaaaahhhhh!!!!! Bunny time again 🎉❤🎉❤
It's a great time of year!!
Heather! You look so happy with the baby bunnies!❤
It's been a while and they are so cute!
Your cats are the sweetest

Many hugs, 14 is a very long life, you did good by her!!!
The snakes in the garden bed is a great idea!!!
Our Amish friends do it and it works!
The kittens and baby goats are so cute. The baby bunnies are adorable. The way the baby goat was jumping awwww, love it.
All the babies of all types are so fun!
Your daughter seems to be knowledgeable about rabbits. Good for her. ❤❤❤
She loves all the babies but bunnies are super fun with all the different colors :)
The kittens and baby goats make me laugh! 😂
Those kittens are just to cute! Love seeing the baby bunnies, and of course the baby goats! Babies all around your homstead!!! Love it!! Thanks for sharing Heather ❤
We have a light rain falling and I thank God for it because we've been in drought conditions since early summer (lower Alabama )
Yay I'm glad you are getting much needed rain!

It's a little slower heating up but I think that's okay for severe cases!
Aww! Baby bunnies, how adorable. Love your channel.
Thank you! 😊
I always learned so much from you. Thank you for being so informative and sharing so much of your farm with everyone.
Gosh, you're so knowledgeable! So sad for the bunnies. Thank you for sharing your life.

I played with the kittens a lot in between goats while milking today, they are getting some big personalities !!
The kitty chorus in the background is cracking me up😂
They wanted OUT LOL
Great video! Sorry about the babies. Glad Mama has 2 to raise. That is the tough part of homesteading. Thanks for sharing and stay safe!🙏❤🇺🇸
They will be two huge babies!!! All that milk for themselves lol!
Great video
Thanks so much! :)

Yeah I was sad none revived. Poor babies.

Woohoo!! Congrats again, Tater! He was a Beautiful Buck!
Do you let your kiddos decide if they want to be in the vlogs? I really enjoy watching your channel 🐑🐰🕊🐕🐈🐖
Yep!! If it was up to them they would be on camera way more. I'm the one that limits them :)
I have a couple of kune kunes that smell like maple syrup, including my boar. Wild huh?
YEA!
Tillage radish, probably.
Ah yes! That's in their cover crop mix

Nope I want to leave that first time mom alone and not rock the boat!

My bucks won't eat minerals either!
We have to top dress it
I was thinking I might have to do that!
I thought the California whites were supposed to have good growth rates already. What breed are the color rabbits? Are their rates noticeably better?

One reason a doe might not settle is she is overweight. They might need a diet but also, the older they get the harder it is to get them productive
