I miss doing martial arts. I might not be able bodied anymore, but, many of the things I’ve learned in martial arts have helped me be able to cope with my degenerative illnesses. A good example being how to fall as safely as I can in the moments before full unconscious so that I minimize head trauma when I hit the ground. Another thing is learning how to adapt to a situation on the fly even if I don’t fully process the situation yet (that’s what the therapist is for after). Martial arts has saved my life both physically and mentally and I’m extremely grateful for my sensei in BJJ and Kendo.

I practice their martial art which is “wushu”. A Chinese martial art. I don’t rely it on defending myself. To be honest, these tricks aren’t really practical in street fights so spending too much time learning this for fighting would be wasting time. That’s why I am learning mma at the same time. People have different goals
