    Rennick definitely smoked like 3 blunts and did shrooms before writing this because oh my God this is ungodly perfection

    In 2021, I am amazed at how CLEAN this line actually is. The technicality of the writing isn't the same as today, but it's still difficult. But most importantly, this was one of the cleanest lines I have ever heard. And I've heard and played in quite a few.

    • @michaelengle9062
      @michaelengle9062 2 года назад +6

      nothing surprising here.....we weren't exactly neanderthals back then, ya know.

    • @HieronymousLex
      @HieronymousLex 2 года назад +3

      @@michaelengle9062 right. If you go look at lines like blue devils 95, they’re cleaner than anything today. Yeah the book is easier but they’re literally tighter on straight 8’s than new lines are.

    • @reynolds727
      @reynolds727 Год назад +1

      Plus, this was done while marching…lines today might have a few more notes, but generally they are staged to play then while standing still. I’m pretty sure these kids could play anything from a recent drum corps show with today’s visual responsibilities 😉

    • @rifle2563
      @rifle2563 Год назад +2

      @@reynolds727the rennick lines visual responsibilities paled in comparison to cadets, scv of this time period.

    usually its hard to score high if your corp places low cause your overall ensemble timing can effect your back to front timing which is also taken into account by the percussion judge

  • @KBoe4

    the reason there is a traditional grip is because back in the civil war the drums were slanted off to the side and matched was awkward since they had to play for days and days. traditional grip was made because the drum was TILTED.
    and if u tilt the drum u get a lot more power out of it. we played level with trad at my school for 3 years and this year our instructor decided to tilt the snares and u got sooo much more power from it.

    @SilverRegiment08 1. I never said they weren't clean. 2. Unless you were there on finals night and heard them perform you wouldnt know. 3. BD won because they were cleaner. 4. Considering the fact that BD played last and Phantom played 4th from last, I'm pretty sure that the judge didn't say, ok guys, you got 2nd in drums because there wasn't enough notes. He may, however, have said there wasn't enough notes but that's not why they didn't win.
