I have enjoyed watching many of your paintings come to life and totally marvel at the process. You're meticulous to the details and and are also non-traditional. You have your own tried and proven way of making art. I applaud you for that because it WORKS! After watching SOO many of your videos and trying to decide which one I like the most. I have to say it's this beautiful Caribbean scene with the gorgeous colors. I am a water baby so aquas speak to me. The viridian is fabulous. Simply gorgeous. Thank you Maria for delighting my senses. 💗
Hi Celeste, thank you so much for your kind words 😉🌸this is one of my older videos... I was using back then white gouache to create clouds, this one was always one of my favorites too because of the same reason you mentioned 💧💦🌊🏝🏖💕☀️
thank you so much Carol... oh I miss this painting... it went to a good home but my inspiration came from my travels to South East Asia and I miss looking at it haha
Its delicious to see your hands wandering about on your paper ! Your bruch seems to be magic too. But above all I do enjoy your Talent . Thank you Maria
This painting is absolutely beautiful. I just finished following your White Beach painting. It took me a month to finish it. I was able to keep watching and it was so helpful. I've been wanting to do watercolor forever and your work is so inspiring . I really like the choices of scenes that you do. You're definitely my favorite artist in that you do realistic and detailed work.
aww thank you Nancy, that's really awesome, I am always so happy to hear when I inspire others to paint... painting is my biggest passion so I want to spread that "watercolor love" as far as I can haha thank you so much for your support! xx
Maria ,thank you once again for taking the time to film , edit and post this. I did not really expect you would take on board my suggestion . I find your style amazing and absolutely love the way you layer your watercolour and obtain the depth of colour and contrasts - so much more than many other watercolour artists ( as I have said before when I try this the paper begins to warp too much) You are a very very talented individual
Hector, that's really nice of you to say all this, wow! Thank you! I think I'm the most glad that I can share a different style with you and you like it and appreciate it. When I first started posting I didn't know what to expect since I didn't see anyone else painting this way on RUclips or if anywhere else! The key I think is patience and a good watercolor paper. It takes me between 25-50min to get the background to be where I want it to be. It's literally adding more watercolor, water or white gouache and playing with it until you are satisfied enough. So sometimes it takes me few minutes if I do the background in a more "watercolory way" (washed out) and sometimes it will take me 40min because I am adding layer after layer. Thank you Hector :)
its the layering which I find intriguing , as most watercolour artists never do it . I have done painting mixing acrylic and watercolour with some success but will certainly be using gouache in the future . Your end results bear no relation to what is considered normal for watercolour and I think that is what excites me more - keep doing the great work and I, for one, will keep watching and learning , thank you
Thank you Hector, the white gouache is a great addition to watercolors. It takes time to get used to it, the texture and what it can do but it expands possibilities in watercolor painting.
Beautiful as always Maria! I loved watching all the transitions of layering and depth. I also loved the way the light in the room is shining down through the clouds as you were working..LoL so awesome! So inspiring, it makes me want to go paint! Thank you!
Some of your best work. So many layers with so much depth. It's really neat the way u work, some watercolorists fear putting down so much pigment so early but it seems like u embrace it and it always seems to work out 4 u and adds so much contrast to your paintings. Best of luck 😃 ☀️
Hi Tosh 😃Thank you so much for appreciating my style of watercoloring 🌊I'm a self taught artist so I guess it forces your mind to experiment more Haha I need to paint another one of these as this one was one of my favorites and I sold it last year. I love painting water and summer is approaching 😉🌸🌺it would be nice to add another Caribbean Sea on my wall lol
Thank so much Margaret 🎨🤗you are such a lovely person. I want to make another one like this one as I have sold this painting a while ago and miss seeing the Caribbean beach colors on a watercolor paper 😍🌺I remember I painted it on a cold pressed watercolor paper, quite different as I normally do my water scenes on hot pressed 😀
I left..painting...long years..back...as now..busy in studies. . but..After watching...your...paintings...I couldn't. ..wait to start...painting again..:) m..so happy....All ur paintings..are so peaceful
Gorgeous. Far more realistic than these watercolour artists who get so anal about never using white paint. How completely silly of them, is my opinion. Your work is fantastic. They should come and see it. 💗💗💗💗💗
thank you so much Cuisle☺️💕it is why I am not a purist haha I think art is art... and to create something different you have to experiment with other things, otherwise it's all the same... ☺️💕🌸thank you for your support😀❤️
Hi Sampeeta :) thank you so much! I use different brushes depending on the effect I want to achieve. Fan brush is flat/thin and wide.. so it was an angle I wanted to get. I use a fan brush a lot when for example I paint 🎨 palm trees
incredible painting of u...i m big fan of u ...i have learnt so many things which is vry useful for me..i aslo starting some painting so i have guidness from u ..plz help me bcoz i want to become a good artist like u...i like ur all painting ..i m big fan of u
🌸☺️thank you so much Rupy, I am very happy to hear this, just keep painting a lot, it's all about practice and there's no shortcuts, it's all about feeling your brush in hand and understanding the color/water. x
Thank you so much :) it depends... some paintings are from imagination and some I refer to pictures, mostly it's half and half, when I want to add something in the background I will go for a photo just for reference, so a lot of times it's multiple pictures I put together. Thank you!
Hi Holly, this is one of my older paintings.. back then I was painting with Winsor and Newton/Cotman/Grumbacher... I think I used Viridian Hue by Cotman, Turquoise by Winsor and Newton, PhThalo Blue by Grumbacher... Indigo by Winsor and Newton. thanks
Is this wet on wet, or wet on dry? Are you using a lot of paint or is it mixed with a wet brush? Are you letting the painting dry between paint applications. It's very confusing.
In the first part of the video after using art masking fluid, I used a brush to water the paper, but just the sky portion. I then used a watered brush, dipped it in watercolors diluted in water. In general when I dip my brush I use a lot of paint. My paintings are not as watered as typical watercolor paintings, because I use a lot of watercolor itself. I paint creating layers. So even when you see the first layer is soft, very light and much watered, I will wait until it dries a bit, then I will start adding more paint/less water, to get the colors to be more vibrant. At 1:36, if you watch the video again, I started working on the sea portion. I jump to the next section so the sky portion dries while I work on another area. It's so I can add another layer to the sky. For the sea portion the paper was dry, so I dipped my wet brush in watercolor and with that paint I started going over the sea level. In that section I used a lot of water, so the watercolor is much diluted with water. It's because I didn't previously wet the paper in that area, so I do it as I go but with a brush full of water and watercolor. Between layers I do let the paint dry a bit, but by going over to other sections and working some other places. Then I go back. I go back and forth until I'm done with the painting. I always use water in my watercolor, even if I'm working on thin lines, some details, there's always water (even if it's just tiny bit) added to watercolor. I hope this helps a bit. Thanks
Hi, I normally use Hot Pressed Watercolor Paper, 140lb, 100% cotton which is very smooth and thick, but in this VIDEO I used Cold PRESSED, also heavy weight, thicker watercolor paper. It probably depends on the paper you use. I also use soft brushes. I was also thinking, depending on the paper you use... maybe once you've had a lot of water on the paper, and then it completely dries, that's when it starts to curl up?

Hi Sampeeta :) thank you so much! I use different brushes depending on the effect I want to achieve. Fan brush is flat/thin and wide.. so it was an angle I wanted to get. I use a fan brush a lot when for example I paint 🎨 palm trees

Hello! can you please tell me the color of blue and what brand of watercolor you used on this wonderful ocean scene?
Hi Holly, this is one of my older paintings.. back then I was painting with Winsor and Newton/Cotman/Grumbacher... I think I used Viridian Hue by Cotman, Turquoise by Winsor and Newton, PhThalo Blue by Grumbacher... Indigo by Winsor and Newton. thanks
sooooooo wonderful....
wow :D
Thank you Syakura 🤗😊!
Bonjour pouvez vous me dire le nom du produit que vous utilisez pour pas peindre sur le pont merci.
Salut, on l'appelle fluide de masquage d'art pour aquarelles, merci☺️
Is this wet on wet, or wet on dry? Are you using a lot of paint or is it mixed with a wet brush? Are you letting the painting dry between paint applications. It's very confusing.
In the first part of the video after using art masking fluid, I used a brush to water the paper, but just the sky portion. I then used a watered brush, dipped it in watercolors diluted in water. Thank you so much for your answers
Your welcome!
Why isn't your paper curling and rippling. What kind of paper is it? Please, answer, I have a real problem with this.
I was also thinking, depending on the paper you use... maybe once you've had a lot of water on the paper, and then it completely dries, that's when it starts to curl up?
waht s tayp your colors?

Hi, all my watercolors are out of tubes, thanks
