I actually used those tips not for singing today but for a kid who wanted to learn how to ride a bike without a stabilizer. This little girl really wanted to ride one of her friends' bike(A bike without a stabilizer which she had never done it before). She was so frustrated and finding it extremely difficult to do so. Interestingly, my head was full of tips from this video, so I decided to try them out on this kid and see how it works. I told this kid to be okay with making mistakes. I told her I fell off my bike just the same as she did when I was little by showing old scars on my keens. I told her not to give up so easily. I encouraged her to break her learning into small steps, and celebrate them. I asked another child to demonstrate to her how to ride this particular bike and asked her to follow him and keep observing. I encouraged her to keep trying the whole time. After about 2 hours of practice, She suddenly clicked on and became capable of riding a bike without a stabilizer. I gave her a HUGE hug. She was soooo excited, she ran to her mother when her Mum came to pick her up. She proudly told her Mum that she NO LONGER needs any stabilizers for her bike. She showed off her new skills after. It was amazing!!! Thanks, Ken on behalf of this little girl:-)
Hey Ken, thanks for your streams. Being a beginner I really enjoy them because I learn many important things about my voice. Corona stopped my lessons so I have to train on my own. I still can't get above my first break in full voice which is around E4 flat but I apply some of your tips to my current range and it helps me a lot :). Still struggling with a husky voice, though.

Hi ken, so I just started your course and i'm about to do the starter exercises. i have never sung before. i was wondering if i should spend time bridging into head voice when i'm doing the starter exercises. i know that you specified that i should spend half of the workout bridging into head voice, but i was wondering if this applies during the first 2-3 weeks when i'm doing the starter exercises? i aspire to be a powerful rock singer. Love your videos and everything you do!

Ken, that's not cheesy. Not at all. Your lessons are really good. However, my opinion is that great singers are born as are really bad singers. However everyone can improve using Ken's info.
Hi Ken! First I want to say you’re awesome and wish I lived close to take your lessons. I had a question though. I have been a vocalist all my life. Not absolutely horrible. But not great. I have pulmonary fibrosis diagnosed in early 2022. I took off singing for almost a year while dealing with it and my breathing issues. Then I was reading singing could be good for lung issues to help strengthen the lungs as well. So I’ve since went back to it and it’s ok. But my disease definitely has interfered. I’ll be singing and get to a high part and my vocals totally go due to my breath running out. So is it correct it could help or are my days of singing over? I have videos on my page here though I’m sure you’re too busy to check them out. But if you could respond to my question I’d much appreciate it. Btw Gabriela is one of my favorite vocalist ever. You did an awesome job with her! Be well! 😊🎤🎵🎼🎶
You can absolutely, and I mean absolutely, sing with pulmonary fibrosis. Obviously there are different levels of this disease but this disease is helped by people that understand how to increase lung capacity using both the upper and lower diaphragmatic muscles along with the transversus abdominis muscle that runs through the core of your abdomen, to get strength for lung capacity and conservation of oxygen while singing.
@@kentamplin Thank you so much for responding! I’m still trying to figure that part out. I know pursed lip breathing helps me when I’m getting out of breath or to bring my oxygen saturation numbers up. But that’s all nose and mouth. Not so much diaphragm. I’ll have to do more research or see if there’s a breathing coach around here. Thank you so much and stay well! 😊🎤🎵🎼
The segment on flat picking reminds me of where I am as a singer. There is a moment where I understand it's just not professional level even though I sang to a few crowds. My vocal teacher since 1985 is Sinatra. In all this time I have failed to actually match his vocals. Like he was at first with Tommy Dorsey, I just can't figure out where he's grabbing that air for big notes; like, where is he getting this power! He came out with his own publication, Tips for Popular Singing, which he cowrote with his first real vocal coach. I still can't figure this "mask" or "speech level" singer out. Can you help me to understand his method of drawing air?
. What are the most common misstakes a newbeginner makes when they start to sing by themselves, or a voicetrainer? I used to be in the schoolband as the singer, but it was 38 years ago and I was a soccer athlete at the time, what should I think about to begin with? I have not even tried to sing for almost 38 years, Is there any extra good exercis to get stomach muscles that help to be able to sing, are regular situps good enough? Should I go for walks for 30 minutes every day and perhaps do some exercisers of some kind that help you strengthen your voice? Are there any good voicetrainers in Sweden, or is it better to do it online when you start? .
ruclips.net/video/OUzanjPxg8A/видео.html kentamplinvocalacademy.com/ Aerobic exercise is very important.; walking, running, biking, etc. Strength training of your core is essential . Good health and nutrition will help you very much as well as the exercise videos posted on my channel. Take a look at my voice program, join the forum, and ask others about their experience and see if it's a good fit for you.
Regarding sit ups: I do a form of sit ups and singing at the same time in the first volume of my singing course to demonstrate the amount of a domino strength, or the feeling we should have in the abdomen when singing. In other words, identifying the whole core muscle structure. The problem is when most people do sit ups, they do them like crunches and they don’t relax between each set up. This triggers the entire abdomen to become incredibly tense and locked up or bound up. This is the exact opposite response that we want when we sing. So, no. Sit ups, in and of themselves, are not good for singing but to do them one at a time while singing and relaxing between each one is.
@@kentamplin Ok thank you, I will try that, first I will try to lose 12 pounds, then I will try to do this and perhaps I can begin my journey back to singing, I have not tried to sing for 30 years. After my tram accident (the tram hit me in the head) I forgot who I am, so it will be a journey, but it all starts with the first steps.

Hmmm unrelated to singing, well actually that voice changing in "Love from Lybia" (hope its spelled correctly) made me think about voice acting or characters in singing. For example, Marko on Phantom of the Opera, and Annete in Halloween from Nightwish, or La Brie in Metropolis 2 (he does a lot of characters in that album) and through the entire Astonishing album (every character, seriously), or Bruce and Harris in Seventh son (playing the roles of profet and narrator) or Pachendale (soldier and narrator), Blind Guardians Orchestra where Hansi Kürsch just kills it with some really colorful characters (The Tower is mindblowing)... And anything Arjen Lucasenn touches... I mean this is obviously more common in Prog Rock/Metal, but I think there might be certain aspects of placement and such that help or ideas... Anyway, thought it would be interesting and a little different.
Off note: did you ever hear of a guy names Steve Balsamro? He was in one of the many editions of JCS. Just curious..he has a “pretty stinking” wonderful voice. So I’m still waiting on Kings X…could you do a shoutout to them maybe then and now or sumthin..? Thank you Ken.🤘🏼

Are you for hire? I'm a nobody but I write songs ,I'm inquiring ,I'm not rich either, but I have songs that need vocals ,all my songs are Christian can be done acoustic and overdriven electric ,if so please respond.
Hey Ken. How much effect does age have on vocals? Take McCartney for example, is there anything he can do to restore his vocals, or is it more a case of old vocal chords? Because I started my career doing Beatles and Wings trib bands, then moved into rock, then hard rock, then this new title popped up Metal! By the time I retired after over 25 years I wanted to get back to the Beatles, Wings Eagles type vocals. I want to preserve my vocal chords as long as I possibly can so I can keep performing as long as I still love it. Take care brother! May the Lord Bless you till it hurts!! Jack ~'()'~ Canada

He sounds very authentic and credible! Thank you , Ken!

Hi Ken, I am 70. I am losing my voice, what can I do about it?
Have you seen my voice repair program? kentamplinvocalacademy.com/voice-repair/
Thank you VERY MUCH 💯

Aerobic exercise is very important.; walking, running, biking, etc. Strength training of your core is essential .
Good health and nutrition will help you very much as well as the exercise videos posted on my channel.
Take a look at my voice program, join the forum, and ask others about their experience and see if it's a good fit for you.
Regarding sit ups:
I do a form of sit ups and singing at the same time in the first volume of my singing course to demonstrate the amount of a domino strength, or the feeling we should have in the abdomen when singing.

Mr Ken much love
