Another sick video bro! You elevated the model so damn much oml, I love the amount of detail the base model has but holy shit you made it look so much better. Looks like I'm definitely buying a Bachmann Ryan now!
This reminds me on the older videos of the Thomas the friends channel where they did that collab with DieselD199 on that Christmas special and they used an HO Ryan model.
Awh thank you! I think anything that involves the models, whether it be a review or modifications, should fall under these videos. It also grows the series more 👀
I bought them through ebay! They're a little hard to come by, and shipping on ebay is so WACK. but if you can find them and talk to the seller, I'm sure they can lower the shipping!
Bachmann Ryan as a whole is probably one of the best models that Bachmann has done. But the mods you've given him, make him look even better. For lamp irons I use track pins cut down to size just be careful when doing that. Side note: What happened to your custom Ryan? Has that been repurposed for Redrum? Just curious.
He's one of the bests for sure. Some quirks hold him back, though it's not bad! Hes actually just been untouched. I'm probably going to just turn it into a normal N2 tbh, and redrum is a second one I bought by accident one year 😅
1:11 Why don’t they do what they did for their Underground Ernie models? Still a plastic prison with windows to see four of the six sides of the model, but more akin to proper model train boxes, with a little diorama behind the engine
it goes without saying this model was well made and then made better from your modifications. well done to you brenden, and i chuckled when you called sir nigel gresley the goat. 😅
The reason for that style of blister packaging (with the knit edges) is to show off the product while making it harder to shoplift the contents; a lot of electronics like thumb drives and headphones are or were packaged in the same way. The N scale and narrow gauge stuff doesn't get that treatment because while vulnerable it's really only stocked in hobby and model shops, and the G range doesn't get that treatment because it's too big (that and both ranges came along later). But the OO range also got stocked in big box retailers like Mall Wart (dunno if it does nowadays, with how overpriced it is) and so was put in that kind of packaging to make it harder for people to steal the stuff off the cards (And it's on cards for the purpose of being hung on pegs). They should at least start putting a film or something between the dimples and the engines. A lot of the detailing improvements stem from using the CGI models as CAD files, together with improvements in computerized mold-cutting. It _is_ disappointing that his cab is only semi-open. The blocking could have at least come down lower, based on the disassembled view. At least it's not like Thomas, Percy, Duck, and Oliver where the damn chip is attached to the cab roof so the cab gets a solid black wall. The handrails being plastic probably does have something to do with toy safety standards on one side of the pond or another - that and cost-saving. Aren't Oliver's and Ryan's wheels larger in diameter than Thomas'? That stinger was unnecessarily loud, ow.
Bro took the model, and massively improved it, Not that the OG one was bad, I'm just saying you made it even better. Great Video as Always! Also that Ending is Peak, Nothing can get better than a Giant Toby on a Rampage tbh.
@@BrendenReis10 Hollup, let Brenden cook. Thanos is strong, but Toby is Stronger, after he mutters those words, "thats why you once needed bootlaces, to be ready, I suppose" just run, thats all you can do before he finds you.
To be honest, Bachmann did Ryan a bit dirty with the closed cab and wheels in my opinion. I think the improvements you made to the model do it a bit of justice!
They really did sadly, but I don't think it takes away from the overall model you know? Thank you! It's not the end of the mods but definitely helps make the guy shine ✨️
Yeah, they probably could have moved that block lower down closer to the wires. But at least unlike Thomas and Percy, the windows are open and the circuit board isn't mounted to the cab roof.
Is it impossible to make a gauge 1 Thomas model mad out of cardboard and paper and what’s your opinion on it and like the video how to modify ho oo scale models for Bachman.
Ryan is a really good model, but ine thing i really dont like is them stupidly LONG couplings Bachmann gave him, they were meant to be elongated versions of the old Mainline/Bachmann couplings for Toby but now theyre just sticking them on every new release for no reason especially when they don't need them. The old couplings are much better as they keep your locos and wahons all nice and close together in a prototypical length.
I bought them through eBay a few years ago, and theyre made by Romford. The international prices for shipping now is so ridiculous I haven't bought anymore
I really want them to retool the Thomas or make a higher quality version for more money idk they can just improve their Thomas range a LOT but they most likely won’t. Although this, at least they are affordable.
Affordable? Not anymore. Especially not the engines. $119 for just a basic Thomas by himself is _not_ "affordable". The engines are only "affordable" compared to how overpriced a lot of more serious models are these days and even then it's questionable. Rant aside, I _would_ like to see them re-do older engines. so dated.. it needs to be demolished as their way of packing the OO models. I love this range but they have to stop putting them in these boxes aaaa...
1. I don't know that you can call the blister packaging "dated" considering that the use of boxes came first and is more normal in the model train world. Although I guess the use of packaging designed to be hung from retailer pegs could be considered dated since Idk if bigbox stores like Mall Wart still carry the range now that it's so overpriced. 2. I don't think you can really describe the boxes from the other ranges as "firmer secured". Second, the blisters themselves are more firmly secured than a cardboard box ever could be - that's what those tough melt-knitted edges you have to cut open with scissors are _for_ (the same packaging is also used for electronics). It is a bit annoying for storage, though. I've resorted to keeping the trays and then making my own boxes. 3. As far as using Oliver's wheels for Ryan...
