    In July 1993, I lived in the Whitecrook area of Clydebank and loved watching aircraft coming in to land and take off. It was around about 1992 that I was fascinated by planes and all things aviation.
    I remember the first time that I saw a 747 coming into land in Glasgow and was completely mesmerised by its beauty

    Remember arriving at London Gatwick Airport in November 1991 and seeing a Britannia Boeing 767-200 standing next to our gate. We had travelled on American Airlines from New York JFK Airport and it was a Boeing 767-200 as well

    Brilliant John, enjoyed seeing one of the first planes i ever travelled on, the Massive and Mighty L-1011 Tri_Star in Scotland's very own charter airline livery, at some point during its service i flew to Dalaman on it....later that year i was working with them ,with "midland Airport services /servisair" i think..? with its galley down stairs and hot breakfasts from the early arrivals , c*nt to clean though...

    Kind of crazy to see the Air Canada jumbo at Glasgow when they now don't even fly there anymore. I recall seeing in one of these videos a Manchester to Ottawa flight on a Wardair 747 which would now be impossible. I guess those really were the effects of high amounts of immigration to Canada from the UK.

    John was there a reason for the Air Canada 747 being at Glasgow? I lived under the flight path for 45 years until 1999 and never seen one go into Glasgow which would would have been great as they turned over my house to line up its approach

    • @melonpan78

      Air Canada served Scotland for over 25 years- first Prestwick then Glasgow. They used Tristar, 747 and 767 aircraft for their Toronto and Halifax routes. We flew AC on a family holiday in 1993. We'd been scheduled to go on a 747 but it was removed for maintenance.

    Would the Air Canada 747 have had a sister aircraft C-GAGA?

    • @viscount757
      @viscount757 7 месяцев назад

      Yes, C-GAGA and C-GAGB were both 747-200 combis with main deck cargo door. They were deliverd new. Another of that model was acquired used from Qantas. Air Canada was the first airline to order the 747-200 combi. C-GAGA was the first one built.
