@@michaelbecket4901 same can be said about Futaba since he had her mother killed, but I agree. He's facing the guy that ruined his life, and Shido believes that he should've killed him if he knew this was gonna happen.
It’s cool because now it’s personal. Shido ruined Joker’s reputation which however ended up resulting with him gaining a team of friends and powers. Shido is also by far the worst target they faced as his goals are evil. (Heck, his shadow represents Pride, the deadliest sin of all.)
Loved this moment but on my first attempt he got a crit and then killed me when he was on like 1hp, beat him on my second attempt though thanks to makarakarn
MrCarnage 35 it really depends on your personas tbh because if you don’t got good personas then your kinda screw but if you do have good personas then it will be a good battle and not be screwed. I used black frost cause ._. Repels fire absorb ice repel death and has decent good stats

The Joker vs Shido 1 on 1 is such a tiny addition but it is one of my favorite additions to this game. It was such a shock and so fitting for the fight and with Rivers in the Desert in the background. Even if Joker is a bit of a self insert for the player, I really feel like things in Royal like this gave him a more defined character. I got chills reading “I have to finish this myself.”
when this happened i was so confused it was so cool to see though, and for the sake of story purposes, i only used Arsene during the fight honestly so damn fun
Fun fact on that solo fight: Just spam Magic Ointment and he kills himself trying to kill Joker. Yes, he's just that bad because he just uses Magic to attack him there. No Physicals, no Almighty, and he simply has no other ways to get around that.

I love how Shido forces Joker to fight him 1 on 1 at the end. He doesn't know the others, so they are meaningless to him. Joker on the other hand, has personally met Shido and is a loose end he didn't take care of. For Shido, Joker is very personal. He's basically saying "Back off, this one (joker) is mine. I don't want you all, I want him, and just him"

Fallout 4 needs to take notes on how to make dlc. You don’t just add shit Willy nilly to the game. YOU EXPAND UPON THE BASE GAME EXPERIENCE. This is dlc done right

you know, this fight was already incredible in the original but the addition of that 1v1 between shido & joker in royal made this battle by far one of my favourites in all of gaming. it’s so goddamn intense
I think he makes a better one outside of Maruki - P5 is strongest when its about human foes. The Holy Grail arc just feels tacked on to have some unnecessary giant evil god boss like the other entries.
My first run through, I found that Cross slash on Izanagi Picaro, when you power yourself up and debuff them, could easily do like 3000 damage in one go on almost anything. I brought this to the Shido fight with Ann, Ryuji and Makoto basically equipped for survival, buffing, and debuffing... Seeing the 3000 just drop Shido straight from lion to pyramid (skipped griffon entirely) was just BEAUTIFUL
Royal has convinced me that some of the devs over at Atlus are huge closeted fans of Metal gear Solid. First, you have the additions to Senator Shido boss fight, where if the Armstrong comparisons were not as strong enough as is, you have a flaming 1v1 involving punch attacks. Then you have the very last stage of the final boss, which references a boss fight from MGS 4
Fighting shido solo here at the end was the most bad ass shit ever, it lasted long af for me cause I was on hard mode and I almost died, what got me was the moment Joker thought to himself "I have to finish this myself" that shit had me jumping I'm like, "ITS FROM THE ANIME A 1V1" shit had me fucking lit event though the anime ain't the best it did some things right
In my opinion this is on of the most epic boss fights in videogame-history: The Story, the characters, the setting and the multiple phases of the fight fit so perfectly. And not to forget the badass, ass-kicking music. When the lyrics start kicking in, it just gives me goose-bumps. And the end, when Joker is facing his arch-enemy 1vs1 is the Definition of epic!
I'd say Nero vs Virgil. Its everything you said but with the added caveat of a "son" beating the shit out of his neglectful abusive "father" while simultaneously finally stepping out of his "uncle's" shadow
I remember this fight when I first played the original P5 a long time ago, I was a lot younger so I didn't fully understand the combat systems or anything, I was there for the ride. This fight kicked my ass and I loved it. It was so difficult for me, and that tension that keeps rising as he keeps getting stronger and having more phases to him and the visuals of you against this mega buff guy at the top of the world as the city falls around you, hOOOO that's some good stuff.
I accidentally broke the fight since i have played for 120 hours or so by this point, used the glitch of despair in reaper when i accidentally discovered it, researched a bit and found out it was actually a bug, i was lvl 99 with everyone and one shoted shido by accident. But i did it again to experience the real tension of the boss.
As somebody who is a sucker for moments where an MC faces their arch enemy by themselves, the last phase of this boss had me even more hyped than I already was 🔥
Everyone else speaking about how intense & perfect the showdown between a solo Joker & Shido was, meanwhile I’m just mad I literally just wasted a full HP & SP recovery ointment on Makoto, Morgana, & Ryuji. *I did love the fight though*
That 1v1 is such a simple addition yet it is FUCKING PERFECT It makes that last part so intense. I was hanging on the edge of my seat the entire time. Story wise it is brilliant as well.
I over levelled myself by grinding reaper and I fought him. Used charge and then God's hand on with Joker not knowing he reflected physical. One of my only game overs playing p5
Shido is by far the best antagonist in videogame history. Never before have I been so motivated to take out a villain. Not only did he ruin joker's life, he's either directly or indirectly responsible for ruining everyone's lives in the phantom thieves: 1. He funded the principle and forced him to stay quiet about Kamoshida, harming Ryuji and Ann 2. He arranged for the death of Makoto's father 3. He arranged for the death of Haru's father 4. He arranged for the death of Futaba's mother 5. He funded and encouraged Madarame to continue ruining Yusuke's life. He wasn't just evil, it actually felt personal.
He did 1 and 2? I know the SIU told the principal to find out about the Phantom Thieves so they were in leagues with Shido but I don't think he killed Makoto's father.
@@masterchiefpettyofficerspa3646 1 was caused by him being the commander of the SIU director who was also in charge of the principal of the school. 2 requires a bit of reading between the lines and a bit of speculation, but we know Makoto's father died from being hit by a truck in some freak accident. It's possible the truck driver might have had a mental shutdown caused by Shido for some reason. But you're right, 2 is by far the weakest link.
ANN , MORGANA, MAKOTO, JOKER. Joker (SURT with blazing hell and TITANIA with concentrate ). And some SP increase vitamins are the best possible way to defeat shido. Keep on increasing defense using makoto, increase HEALTH using mona and decrease shido attack using ANN. Now use concentrate on joker and in next turn use blazing hell. It might cost 5 SP, but depending upon your level it is very much effective 👍👍

If I had a Dime for every time a Politician roided up and beat the shit out of me... I'd have 3 dimes but it's weird it happened 3 times (Shido, Haggar and Armstrong)
I dont know why but i really adore all these Tyrant Moves. Satanael: Tyrants Mind Shido Palace Ring: Tyrants Will Shido himself: Tyrants fist, purge, glare, judgement, wave... Its like they give shootouts to the Tyrant Race in SMT. Especially that joker himself seems to be a Tyrant even though he opposes Shido and is a Hero. Its as if he stole the entire Name for itself in Tyrants Mind in Satanael.
As soon as this fight turned into a 1v1, all that went through my head was “You’re the one person I REFUSE to lose to!” I only just managed to defeat him, my first playthrough. I was NOT expecting Royal to create such a twist in this fight! But it made things much more personal! Loved it!

PLEASE!” *FLASHBACK* Sumi: “But you have to promise me this: You’ll come back safe no matter what! I don’t ever want to feel as…. horrible as I did when I thought you….” *FLASHBACK ENDS* Joker: ‘shakes head’ “I made a promise… and I’m NOT going to let someone like YOU break that promise!” That’s what I thought about when fighting Shido on the 1 vs 1 phase of the fight. Joker made a promise to finish this fight with Shido no matter what and to come back safely and Shido deserved every bit of Joker’s rage after all he made the kid go through.
I started screaming when it was a 1V1 bc I had no healing moves and Morgana was my healer and I thought I was going to die but luckily I somehow survived and beat him first time 😂
I suddenly smiled and chuckled when his 2nd phase pops up and I was like, "Wait, am I really playing Persona 5 here or am I playing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance?!" And then when he suddenly punches the ground, with sudden geysers around us, and my teammates left me to go one-on-one with Shido, suddenly I was laughing and said, "Yep, this is Metal Gear Rising, alright..." and started singing It has to be this way... xD
Due to me being a silly boi I decided to use Ariadne's attack that greatly decreases your damage thinking the fight would be over very soon. then my team left. I had to block and hope for the best that he would use attacks I could reflect.
I managed to die in the phase where he becomes a tomato, and you go back to the phase where he is bane. It would still be really be vibe-breaking if you were to die and go back to that tho.
God I remember going into this blind with low HP and SP, desperately switching Personas to try and counter Shido’s skills while thinking “I seriously cannot mess this up.”
Having a true best friend like Ryuji truly is a blessing, sure the guy has his dumb moments but the guy has a heart of gold through and through and I couldn’t ask for a better best friend than Ryuji and this moment only further solidified that fact.
On the 1v1 part of the fight, I discovered the persona I had had an immunity to whatever Tyrant’s judgement was. So glad too because I had to leave to work in a matter of a few minutes.
If joker spoke to shido I think it go like this: Joker: You caused me and my friends to suffer shido but now I will end your reign right here, I will take your treasure and I will have my vengeance!
The part that got me Hype as fuck was when he powers up and says “IM SHIDO I HAVE DECADES OF EXPERIENCE OVER THESE BRATS “ and He buffs up again that shit was 😮💨
I just beat him on my first playthrough. Too bad i figured out how to spawn satan and itemize him for his armor. Made this fight too easy, kinda regret it.
Everyone shared their experience so here's mine. I used Izanagi-No-Okomi picaro for most of this fight. The rest of the thieves supplying SP items and health. Then In the final phase I was out of SP completely. And none of the thieves were present. So wanna know what I did? I took him down with my knife alone! I am not kidding. I cut him down without using my persona
I used Raoul for this fight (I used Arsene for most of the game and Raoul is basically "The Better Arsene" so it was symbolic) and had Ryuji, Ann, and Morgana in my party, mostly because I maxed out their Confidants and their moves helped make the fight less one-sided. Things went downhill during the 1v1 because despite being almost overleveled, I still had to abuse my items against Shido since I was taking chunks of damage and barely chipping off his. I only had to restart the battle once, but it still sucked.
“How bout another joke Shido? What do you get when you cross a group of mentally I’ll loners WITH A SOCIETY THAT ABANDONS THEM AND TREATS THEM LIKE TRASH?! I’ll tell you what you get! YOU GET WHAT YOU FRICKIN DESERVE!”
For real I was shitting myself on the 1v1 stage because jokers mainly a support/offense on my team only damaging when really needed. Probably the most freaked out I've ever been in a video game
I did not expect to have to fight him one on one. He spammed charge, almighty attacks and that judgement fist of his. I won through a sad combination of heal, block, heal, attack, rinse and repeat. Felt a bit repetive doing the same chain six times but at least he's down. Stronger Personas next time.
11:51 not sure why, but I just love the way Shido says "...but there is no reason for me to lose to thieves!" coupled with the synth/string melody behind it. Really has a sense of tension and climax at this point of the fight

I barely clutched him I had low sp and could only use my knife. Thankfully I had a maruki perk where I get 200 sp if it’s low so that saved me
XD he had me in a healing loop for so long but I managed to beat him

Joker already had a lot more persona than previous Persona protagonists, enough that I've seen people refer to him as "semi-mute".

The fight against Nyx from Persona 3 is 10x better.
That section where it’s just you against the man who ruined your life honestly made this the most intense fight in the game

I remember this fight when I first played the original P5 a long time ago, I was a lot younger so I didn't fully understand the combat systems or anything, I was there for the ride. This fight kicked my ass and I loved it. It was so difficult for me, and that tension that keeps rising as he keeps getting stronger and having more phases to him and the visuals of you against this mega buff guy at the top of the world as the city falls around you, hOOOO that's some good stuff.
I accidentally broke the fight since i have played for 120 hours or so by this point, used the glitch of despair in reaper when i accidentally discovered it, researched a bit and found out it was actually a bug, i was lvl 99 with everyone and one shoted shido by accident. But i did it again to experience the real tension of the boss.

As somebody who is a sucker for moments where an MC faces their arch enemy by themselves, the last phase of this boss had me even more hyped than I already was 🔥
I'm not going to lie, that 1v1 between Akira and Shido caught me off guard the first play through. I was able to beat him but it was intense.
I was so scared, was playing merciless and didn’t have enough sp, but I beat him on first try.
I was fire up when I first saw the 1v1 I was scare true but it was overcome by my desire for revenge
Shido makes it a 1v1

Everyone else speaking about how intense & perfect the showdown between a solo Joker & Shido was, meanwhile I’m just mad I literally just wasted a full HP & SP recovery ointment on Makoto, Morgana, & Ryuji.

It makes that last part so intense. I was hanging on the edge of my seat the entire time. Story wise it is brilliant as well.

Shido is by far the best antagonist in videogame history. Never before have I been so motivated to take out a villain. Not only did he ruin joker's life, he's either directly or indirectly responsible for ruining everyone's lives in the phantom thieves:
1. He funded the principle and forced him to stay quiet about Kamoshida, harming Ryuji and Ann
2. He arranged for the death of Makoto's father
3. He arranged for the death of Haru's father
4. He arranged for the death of Futaba's mother
5. He funded and encouraged Madarame to continue ruining Yusuke's life.
He wasn't just evil, it actually felt personal.
He did 1 and 2? I know the SIU told the principal to find out about the Phantom Thieves so they were in leagues with Shido but I don't think he killed Makoto's father.

1 was caused by him being the commander of the SIU director who was also in charge of the principal of the school.
2 requires a bit of reading between the lines and a bit of speculation, but we know Makoto's father died from being hit by a truck in some freak accident. It's possible the truck driver might have had a mental shutdown caused by Shido for some reason. But you're right, 2 is by far the weakest link.

Shido also almost drove Futaba to suicide with that forged letter. He deserved to be thoroughly crushed, bruised, broken, and defeated just for that.
Honestly, "Collective Consioness" and "It has to be this way" from MGR:R fits first and second phases of fight quite well.

And some SP increase vitamins are the best possible way to defeat shido.
Keep on increasing defense using makoto, increase HEALTH using mona and decrease shido attack using ANN.
Now use concentrate on joker and in next turn use blazing hell.
It might cost 5 SP, but depending upon your level it is very much effective 👍👍

If I had a Dime for every time a Politician roided up and beat the shit out of me... I'd have 3 dimes but it's weird it happened 3 times (Shido, Haggar and Armstrong)

Its like they give shootouts to the Tyrant Race in SMT. Especially that joker himself seems to be a Tyrant even though he opposes Shido and is a Hero. Its as if he stole the entire Name for itself in Tyrants Mind in Satanael.
As soon as this fight turned into a 1v1, all that went through my head was “You’re the one person I REFUSE to lose to!”
I only just managed to defeat him, my first playthrough. I was NOT expecting Royal to create such a twist in this fight! But it made things much more personal! Loved it!

That’s what I thought about when fighting Shido on the 1 vs 1 phase of the fight. Joker made a promise to finish this fight with Shido no matter what and to come back safely and Shido deserved every bit of Joker’s rage after all he made the kid go through.

I started screaming when it was a 1V1 bc I had no healing moves and Morgana was my healer and I thought I was going to die but luckily I somehow survived and beat him first time 😂
I suddenly smiled and chuckled when his 2nd phase pops up and I was like, "Wait, am I really playing Persona 5 here or am I playing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance?!"
And then when he suddenly punches the ground, with sudden geysers around us, and my teammates left me to go one-on-one with Shido, suddenly I was laughing and said, "Yep, this is Metal Gear Rising, alright..." and started singing It has to be this way... xD

Due to me being a silly boi I decided to use Ariadne's attack that greatly decreases your damage thinking the fight would be over very soon.

I had to block and hope for the best that he would use attacks I could reflect.
It was really an "oh shit" moment when it became a solo. But it became lame when you realize nothing's stopping you from reflecting all his attacks
He was destroying me until I realized I had a ton of "reflect magic attack barrier" ointments in my bag. Still intense as hell though.
I nearly had a panic attack when it went 1v1. Luckily my modified Rangda drained his Tyrant's Judgement every time.

Shido was only difficult the first time I played it on normal, by my second run I beat him on merciless with joker only

This was the hardest boss to me in the game. Imagine dying at the last form of Shido and have to do that all over again......
I managed to die in the phase where he becomes a tomato, and you go back to the phase where he is bane. It would still be really be vibe-breaking if you were to die and go back to that tho.

Having a true best friend like Ryuji truly is a blessing, sure the guy has his dumb moments but the guy has a heart of gold through and through and I couldn’t ask for a better best friend than Ryuji and this moment only further solidified that fact.

On the 1v1 part of the fight, I discovered the persona I had had an immunity to whatever Tyrant’s judgement was. So glad too because I had to leave to work in a matter of a few minutes.
Tyrant's Judgement is a Physical attack.
Though I'm fairly certain Shido uses Almighty attacks, which cannot be repelled, nullified, or absorbed.
This song is one of the hypest in the whole game to me and is prolly my favorite other than Life Will Change.
If joker spoke to shido I think it go like this:
Joker: You caused me and my friends to suffer shido but now I will end your reign right here, I will take your treasure and I will have my vengeance!

I just beat him on my first playthrough. Too bad i figured out how to spawn satan and itemize him for his armor. Made this fight too easy, kinda regret it.
Everyone shared their experience so here's mine. I used Izanagi-No-Okomi picaro for most of this fight. The rest of the thieves supplying SP items and health. Then In the final phase I was out of SP completely. And none of the thieves were present. So wanna know what I did? I took him down with my knife alone! I am not kidding. I cut him down without using my persona
I used Raoul for this fight (I used Arsene for most of the game and Raoul is basically "The Better Arsene" so it was symbolic) and had Ryuji, Ann, and Morgana in my party, mostly because I maxed out their Confidants and their moves helped make the fight less one-sided.
Things went downhill during the 1v1 because despite being almost overleveled, I still had to abuse my items against Shido since I was taking chunks of damage and barely chipping off his. I only had to restart the battle once, but it still sucked.
“How bout another joke Shido? What do you get when you cross a group of mentally I’ll loners WITH A SOCIETY THAT ABANDONS THEM AND TREATS THEM LIKE TRASH?! I’ll tell you what you get! YOU GET WHAT YOU FRICKIN DESERVE!”

The fight on vanilla was so damn hard I damn near got my ahh beat by the golden lion and Shido pulls out 4 different stages shii had me fearful 😭😭
For real I was shitting myself on the 1v1 stage because jokers mainly a support/offense on my team only damaging when really needed. Probably the most freaked out I've ever been in a video game
This fight and song are perfect this is my favorite fight but my favorite palace would have to be Futaba's palace
I did not expect to have to fight him one on one. He spammed charge, almighty attacks and that judgement fist of his. I won through a sad combination of heal, block, heal, attack, rinse and repeat. Felt a bit repetive doing the same chain six times but at least he's down. Stronger Personas next time.

11:51 not sure why, but I just love the way Shido says "...but there is no reason for me to lose to thieves!" coupled with the synth/string melody behind it. Really has a sense of tension and climax at this point of the fight
