06:50 - absolutely. This is where BMW M cars absolutely fly. Lots of hot hatches can stay with it until about 80-100mph when it just shoots off. You see it all the time in drag videos, the hot hatch flies off the line, but the high capacity engine comes flying by at higher speeds.
Glad you got to drive one, nice review! The DCT is a better match with the S65, manual is fun but I love the DCT...I've had both. Check one out with DCT sometime. Rock on!
I owned a e92 m3 manual loved it closest thing to a race car Iv driven, one thing amongst many I felt let the car down was the lack of torque and straight line speed even though mine was stage 2 dyno'd @445 bhp I'd have expected a little move wow when planting it, don't get me wrong it was a quick car sounded amazing and rev'd over 8k rpm plus the handling was second to none, I just found for the running costs MPG and Maintenance etc there was so many other options that would match straight line performance witch were a lot 'cheaper' to run and in the same price bracket.. I called it a day when a couple s3's gave me a real good run for my money, I now own a Audi s3 8v saloon stage 1 and the car would stick with the m3 all day whilst Averaging 35mpg and for me I'm happy, anyone considering a e92 m3 I'd say do it! but bare in mide u may have a 2l turbo up ur backside that u may not be able to shake off!
Very true, I find that even my stock facelift would stick with this M3 for most situations, especially if its at lower speeds. But as you say this thing is so race car in its nature, something which S3 can't replicate!
Thanks God you sold it .. having an M car is not about MPG or turbal torque .. it's for passionated car lovers that buy a legend and some collector cars to keep them for a long time. To comparing a 2 liter turbo made by VAG to a noble V8 Naturally aspirated means that you did good by selling your m3 .. Hope your ex car is now on safe hands and the new owner is enjoying RWD every corner and rev matching it with the inimitable sound every day. BTW the more a car is high in RPM the less she will be on torque (just mathematics) so if your golf/leon/a3/skoda (it's all the same) gives u the impression of power it's just because you should change gears before 6000rpms .. on a autobahn you will never see again this m3 after 200km/H as she hit 192km/H on 3rd gear ;) So enjoy your city street races from a red light to another .. But never I SAID NEVER race this car on a autobahn/highway or you will understand the difference between 4 & 8 cylinders quickly ;)
Cars have come on since and a lot of cars are powerful now day and 2.0 turbos due to emissions .drive the e92 properly and they still are quick even by today’s standard.plus if you want to go fast just give the s65 6.5 psi of boost and your well over 600hp.i don’t care it’s not the fastest as the whole experience sense of occasion is better then having a awd car that’s point and squirt.its all about the driving experience.mines 450hp and will be charged at some point but I feel down B roads that I drive it’s far from slow.turn the traction control off and drive it and it’s gona be way better he. Any s3/rs3 etc
Hi from Australia. I currently have e90 M3 dct 2010 4 door. Absolutely love it , I have tuned it and done the exhaust. I am thinking of buying a e60 M5 , tune it a little and do the exhaust. Now you have driven both, which one do you think is more impressive, unique and what’s faster . Thx for any help. Cheers.
One thing ive noticed with all m3's even the new ones is that when you put your foot on the accelerator it gives you that noise but as soon as you step off the accelerator the noise suddenly disappears. When a m3 comes down my street I can hear the acceletator being floored and released.
Really like all your videos and content 👍 some good cars youve had on now. Would like to see an m135i or 140i as a comparison to the S3/golf R dont think youve had one yet? After all Its the affordable bmw hot hatch 😉

It's the induction noise rather than exhaust noise

If I had the pre Lci e92 I'd definitely swap out those halogens for xenon or maybe LED's.
