*adjusts glasses* Well if you look at second 3.53 you can see there was a short cut from his jump to the castle, this means the run was spliced and therefore invalid. I got my PHD having physician to prove it

use either windowed fullscreen or use a 3rd party program such as borderless gaming in windowed mode
this is really late ik but you could delay the time it takes to use hot keys so it takes like 5 seconds till it starts
Most streamers dont put it over their game. They have several monitors and on one of the monitors they have the livesplit but in their recording software they have it all stacked and in the right spots.
This tutorial was by far the most helpful thing to get me started both on LiveSplit AND an OBS that is actually easy to use. Thank you for your incredible insight and tips!

Thanks. So, how do you import community splits records? And how do you do automatic splits, I mean, when a boss is done, I press somehow sooner or later the button to split, then split is different; I don't think it is all manual, as it would be unfair if I press 1 sec before others. Someone plz explain this to me, thanks.

if you click it, an option called "Run Anyways" should solve ur problem ;)
when i search game name it has no search results like i can type "a" and nothnig pops up i can type in any game like minecraft or cuphead but nothing shows in the search
This isn't even a livesplit tutorial. All this video talks about is the visual settings of the program, not how to actually set up livesplit for a speedrun. Why is this so popular and why is this the "tutorial" linked on the livesplit website?
I speedrun Sonic Adventure DX on steam, and I wanna know how I can make the timer start on its own when I choose Tails, do the splits when I complete them, and then the time end on its own when I beat Tails' story? I thought other speedrunners had stuff like that so they didn't need to use a hotkey.

every time I try to set the timer in game it always stays on that window (i tried it without full screen and it didn't work either) can someone help me with this?
These mouth noices are super irritating. I have no idea why would someone also reject pop filters, they are invented for this exact purpose, to get rid of air pops, as seen on his twitch, 2 years after he still has none. Tutorial as itself is very helpful, which makes me sad that creator didn't ever read about how to improve voiceover quality and didn't have a script to eliminate those pauses which he fills with quility asmr lip smacks and emmmmmms

Sweet tutorial, but I have a dumb question. In order to get the timer to register my keypresses, it needs to be in focus. However, when I'm in game, it's no longer in focus. It's still displayed over top of the game, but it won't register my presses to start/stop the timer. What am I missing?

Have a question, I'm on mac and when I download the folder LiveSplit does not show up but LiveSplit.exe shows up and when I open it, it doesn't open LiveSplit it opens something else can someone help

When I try to run livesplit in the first step, it just says the application cannot run and the timer doesn't even appear for me help is appreciated

hi i started speed running a game on roblox called speed run 4, but whenever i want to go to my next split i have to waste a second or 2 on clicking livesplit and pressing my button, its really annoying and time consuming i need to find a way where i can play the game and as soon as i press my button it goes to the next split instead of having to click on livesplit.
enable global hotkeys in the settings menu that will fix this!

Thanks for the tutorial, I set the world record for need for speed the run (2:13:54) But wasn't aware of it, so I wasn't recording but now I'm going to do it lmao

every time i try to open the livesplit folder i get an error message saying: the parameter is incorrect
when i downloaded the file i cant find the program. please anyone help me with this
I'm unable to save my layouts and I'm not seeing that option anywhere. I'm trying to make a new category for myself too so idk if that's relevant. How do I save my splits and layout after I'm done? Also is there a way to split while staying in a steam game? Is it possible to use it as an overlay over top of whatever game I'm playing? It feels impossible to start speedrunning without knowing these things and I don't see that info in this tutorial anywhere. What's in here is helpful, but it hasn't helped me actually start running.

The latest version is likely bugged. Updated to it and it crashed immediately. Then I downloaded it from livesplit.org and the application won't even open.
why don't you focus on important stuff, you use shortcuts to reset in the video (when in fact I would be interested in that) but don't explain it.
then you talk on forever how to change colours, fonts, etc, that's pretty self explanatory.
Hey I got a question for ya, where do you get the cool background that you use for your overlay? Did you make it yourself or did it come from like a free overlay bank?
alr this is just editing layout, obs and other thingies but most important is how u make livesplit record game bruh. it just closes when i open up Minecraft. so what i do?

Sorry if my question is kinda dumb, but is there any way to assign a button on a PS4 pad to slit my timing rather than a Keyboard key? The thing is, when I start making the run I dont wanna touch anything else besides the pad that Im playing on. Thanks
When I add the World Record field it picks the right category but not the right sub-category WR I wanted.
When it comes to changing the hotkeys, I don't have the ok option. Something must be wrong with my version?

Hello. This tutorial is pretty nice but. For some reason i cannot add more splits to my timer. I don't know why but i'm trying to speedrun a specific ROBLOX game and i cannot add anymore then one split to the timer.

Hey thanks man for the video. Getting ready to dabble in speedrunning and needed a quick run down on LiveSplit useage.
What should I do if I click on LiveSplit in my folder after extracting all the files if it keeps trying to open the appliacation? Also, do the files only have to be extracted once?

How do I add sub splits? Like if I want to list a certain level in the game, and then have splits underneath that for each mission associated with that level, and keep them grouped together like that?

yo, I have live split and followed all the instructions, but whenever i go to actually launch it it just doesnt open, however it says its open in task manager. is this a common issue? because i have no idea what to do
I always assumed this interacted with the games itself and always wondered how it would grab the info off of ancient game consoles. Well, this cleared up that mystery.

thanks for the video however i cant stop the timer through pausing the game or cutscenes which then gives me a totally different time to ingame time how do you do this to match the ingame time?

Doesn't seem to be possible. And windowed mode wouldn't make a difference. Neither would two displays.

My livesplit keeps crashing like a frame after I open it

If you haven't tried it, use global hotkeys and select "Deactivate For Other Programs" to also prioritise that hotkey only for LiveSplit
