  • Dave Norona joins Mountain Sledder to help point out a) the key differences between the Gen5 Ski-Doo Summit X and Expert Package models, b) how those affect the ride characteristic, and c) some advice to help riders decide which Gen5 model might be better suited for their own riding style and preferences.
    For model year 2023, the Expert Package utilizes some key changes that significantly increase the precision of the sled. These include the DS4 ski, a new PowderMax X-Light 3″ track with full width rods, and the newly designed t-Motion XT rear suspension with a fixed (non-pivoting) rear arm, with details pointed out by Dave.
    For more info on all the differences between the Summit X Expert Package model and others in the Summit lineup, see our video here:

    Thanks Pat, I’ve been riding a X for about 5 years now and I’m ready for a new spring check. I’m +50 and focused on ringing in the POW, fun rides with as little effort as possible so I can ride multiple days. I was ordering a Expert non turbo (due tot he $4K adder) for $21K + tax but after watching your video I’m now thinking Summit X which I know and love and add the turbo for $22K + tax. Again I really like at X but was taking Expert because it’s top of the line, I’m liking the T motion and flex edge track because it’s likely easier for me to get on it’s side and easier to ride….not sure I want to give this up….
    make sense?

    • @sleddermag
      @sleddermag  Год назад +2

      Hi Dan! Now that so many of the features that made the Expert 'better' when it first came out are now also on the Summit X, it's really more a matter of handling preference and how much effort you want to put into it. For next year the '24 Summit X also has the adjustable brake lever, quick adjust limiter strap and lower riser coming over from the Expert, so like Dave says, one is not really 'better' than the other anymore. Sounds like the X is the ticket for you. And don't forget that you're going to experience a BIG handling improvement going from Gen4 to Gen5 also! More fun, less effort.
      As for the turbo decision! The power delivery is super smooth, so don't worry about it won't wearing you out. It's just like an 850, just more jam when you want it. If you can get a turbo Summit X for just $1K more than an na Expert, that would 100% be our recommendation for you and you'll have the time of your life next winter! Thanks for watching!

    Is it me or has skidoo kinda lost the marketing on the freeride. Its marketed as the big impact big jumper, but put all the weak parts on it. T motion keeps ripping apart and the last time ripped my track in 2 all the way around.

    • @DaveNorona
