Hi Laura I always look forward to your tutorial and I have made your quick chevron pattern into a wedding quilt for my daughter..Thank you for your awesome instruction.Always easy to follow xx
I'm a beginning quilter and especially love your easy to understand descriptions, steps, and encouraging smile. This is a big help which has altered my attitude of half-square triangle assembly. (7/8-inches should be outlawed!) this is So much easier.
I am making this with star wars, galaxy, and solid print fabric for my best friend. This will be my second quilt and I think the design is gorgeous! Thank you for the pattern and accompanying it with a video!!
Great tutorial; your instructions are clear and easy to follow. And you have little waste from your FQs. I can hardly wait to start it!! Thank you so very much!!!
There are just so many great tips in this tutorial. At first glance I thought, "Sure, I know how to make half square triangle blocks 8 at a time", but that beautiful floral fabric was saying, "Come to me!" So of course I had to watch the whole video. And once again, you brought out detailed instructions that closed the deal in my wanting to make this pattern. I really liked how you used the two rulers to make an accurate cut of the 16 1/2" square without having to move the fabric or the cutting mat. Those were my favorite tips of this video. At 3:40 when I saw that you were going to use the long ruler to cut off the fourth side of the large 16 ½ square, I thought, "Oh, oh! How is she going to keep that ruler on top of such a little area of fabric without both of them sliding around?" By only moving the large square ruler over bit, it kept that sliver of fabric in place for cutting. Woo-Hoo! No having to walk around the table or flip the fabric/mat around; it was SO efficient, accurate, and safe. And I can certainly see the advantage of using all those pins at the center, corners and on the diagonal lines to keep a large piece of fabric from becoming unwieldy as you sew those diagonal seams on the bias. When you labeled those stacks of HSTs according to their colors and then assembled them in the four sections, it set my mind a little more at ease in how I would assemble the layout - especially nice for those of us without a large design wall. Thanks also to Quilting Treasures and Cyndi Hershey for the pattern that I can print out to keep in my binder of quilt layouts I want to make. Yes, Laura, you summed it up perfectly: "You can't go wrong with this quilt".
I haven't finished watching the entire video and I am already SEW VERY EXCITED! I made a quilt like this a few months ago, with a blog tutorial but it with a lot of trial & error. I'm sure your tips will help and I'll want to make more HST quilts!
WOW! This is AMAZING... both the technique AND the pattern! I am definitely going to make it! I am currently making another quilt that is ALL HST at 3.5 inches. I am going to try this method to make them! Talk about speedy!!! Thank you!!!
Great fun quilt. I am wanting to try this with Batiks and also with some Kaffe Fasset fabrics I have. I do love buying fat qts. Thanks for the tutorial Janet
Cheryl Fosner Me too--I just wanted to get a spoon and eat them with whipped cream! Laura, you're a born teacher. You really understand how challenging some of the steps will be and give us those merciful tips we need so much to make it a fun, successful project! Thank you so much!♡
Thank you so much Laura, that’s a stunning and gorgeous quilt, and I really really love 💕 the way you’ve made this quilt. Even I can do it. xxx Mags stay safe and well too x
Love your creations ..... so beautiful and easy instructions to follow. I'm always awed by your selection of colors that blend so nicely it's inspiring!
Oddly, I have just completed all the rows for a QAYG in this pattern except I have it centered. How funny to see you doing this quilt! Love it! Thanks for sharing it!
Thank you for that ruler trick!! How awesome! I also love that you cut your fqs so fast. Wow! Always enjoy your channel! Great tips and instructions. 😀
love the colors and you make this sound so easy to make. really enjoy your teaching method. would you ever consider teaching how to make raggedy ann/andy type dolls? Please?
Love the pattern and the fabric. You always have such wonderful tips and tricks. I couldn’t get the links for pattern to work? I sure enjoy and learn sew much from your videos and tutorials! Thank you sew much 😍😘
What would be nice laura is all the quilts you make you could demonstrate free motion.....I love to watch others free motion gives me confidence to have a go..
Hi Laura. What do you think that adding a smaller 'stop' border before the wider border? I love the way you made yours and how you explain how to pop certain colors. I wonder if the stop border would visually take that pop away? I have put the quilt top together and am pondering the borders now! Thanks!
Small correction Laura (sorry). I just checked out the link with the pattern. I believe the pattern says "From each set of the fat quarters cut (4) 7 7/8" squares"; not 4 7/8" squares as you stated at 1:05. Of course one could cut their squares that small (4 7/8"), but one would be making a lot more blocks. AND I know that your video instructions make it even easier and quicker to cut (1)16 ½" square from each fat quarter - to use the 8 at a time method which is exactly the way I want to make this quilt. Whether it's your video's instructions or the pattern's, either way the sewist will come up with 56 HST blocks unfinished at 7 ½" and finished at 7" each. LOVE that fabric!!
This is absolutely awesome. I'm looking for a pattern to make with 6 shades and patterns of blue fabric. I think this is the one. It has to fit a queen size bed though. So, do I make the squares larger? Or can I add another few rows to the pattern?
I notice that the pattern says to press all seams open. Is that what you did? I'd really like to know how you press your seams as you do these wonderful tutorials. That was a great shortcut - much easier and quicker than making each HST individually. Thanks!
The reason why the seam are recommend to press open is that way you will never have two seams fighting with each other. I still think that is the best in this quilt:)
Laura, thank you for another great great tutorial! Would you have any idea how big I could make the blocks to make a quilt more of a twin size? I have no idea how to figure out the math! Hoping you can help! Thank you.
Hi Laura. I’m new to quilting and only just watched your video on HST quilt. The links to the pattern no longer work. Can you direct me to a pattern for this quilt. I would love to try making it. Thank you for great videos. Monica

This was amazing, thank you for sharing.
I need to figure out how to do this with a layer cake. The fabric I want to use no longer has a fat quarter bundle available.
Oh Laura! This is yummy!!

each block is 7" so you will need a quilt 9 blocks by 14 blocks=126
Hi Laura. I’m new to quilting and only just watched your video on HST quilt. The links to the pattern no longer work. Can you direct me to a pattern for this quilt. I would love to try making it. Thank you for great videos.
