Thank you, Dahr. And thank you WRP for the great intro. Dahr, you always break my heart. I'll always remember your talk about grieving for mother earth in a talk you gave here in PT. It hurts to the core. It's a grief that you don't really know is there until something sparks it and that deep, deep sadness overtakes one. So I appreciate all you have done--truths about Iraq, push back on military expansion or the extreme damage we are doing to our planet.
It is now April, 2021, two years following this talk, and I see that 11,821 people, plus myself, have viewed it. 30 of those have commented. I have feared the worst since Zero Population Growth and other environmental groups began publicizing their findings. But rarely, so rarely do I ever hear this message being told...... instead I hear what you have heard, i.e. "The business of business is business!" And "Don't make any waves......." So I looked at business, and at business owners, and at politicians, and at leaders of all kinds, I looked at my neighbor and at my neighbor's neighbor, and I watched their behavior, invariably they all act as though this information does not exist. That these events and this behavior does not exist, or that it is ...... What? Wrong? Misguided? Biased intellectual misinformation? No matter...... my 83 years of watching human beings suggests that no meaningful actions can or likely will occur, given the nature of the human animal. We flatter ourselves thinking we are divinely inspired and created, myths of which abound according to each individual cultural millieu...... and our 'holy' books are filled with such wonderful stories. Yes, yes indeed, I perceive the thousands of gods and goddesses created by mankind.... but to what end? To save mankind? Hmmmm.......... Yes, this too shall pass!

This reminds me of someone who once gave me a list of things I didn't believe and then convinced me of all of them. You are right, Martin Featherstone. We are lucky to have such people.
Total insanity how Humanity is the destroying the biosphere, utterly depressing, I couldn't give a f--k about Human survival, but the animals and all other life I feel so sorry.
I understand that people best learn by telling them stories, but I personally would like to see and hear analysis of the best and latest available data. Most of this presentation goes towards establishing his sincerity via emotion. I believe in what I can trust to be true, and that requires more than an appeal to my emotions. Show me statistics and show me how the data that supports those statistics isn't corrupted by "spin", i.e., selective/subjective data mining. America is going to collapse economically soon. There is going to be a planet wide human population die-off before 2050 due to economic/energy/resource restraints so climate change predictions based on current models assuming trajectories extrapolated in to the future from past and current data sets are more or less not very relevant. The reason why there isn't "political will" in America to address climate change is because the people that control the American economy, and public opinion, know that it's too late by decades to ward off societal collapse. Maybe because I'm an atheist free of the emotional BS that goes along with religion, I understand that the Tower of Babble fable is a story describing that infinite growth to paradise ends in chaos. In consideration of the preparations for complete totalitarianism being developed in virtually every aspect of life in america, I would be a fool to believe that the most powerful and influential bankers in the world don't understand the exponential function, or the consequences of climate change. They know as I do, and you should too, that the problem will solve itself because we can't. Human die-off is inevitable, and the best those in power can do is keep us ignorant of their preparations for their own survival. Duh.
Well spoken Daniel Jones, my thoughts exactly. You and many others likely have noticed that anthropology isn't taught to children, and that each religion instills its' 'truth' into a population, generally desiring to replace anthropological reality with pleasant religious scenarios, very short sighted cultural adaptations to be sure.......
