Hi there, I just bought a ps5 and im about to buy a 75+ inches 4k tv. Im not an hardcore competitive player but im also not looking for "lag". In your opinion, is 60hz good or due to the size i should go for 120hz?
Thank you in advance for any piece of advice
Cheers!
Should be perfectly fine! Most tvs these days have a “game mode” to reduce the lag/ input lag. Just research the tv you’re buying! Rtings does a great job going into depth in their tv reviews. Good luck!
Bro had me Sold when he came in with that Eagles T-shirt on! ;D
😂 Go birds! Next season… lol 🦅
Damn while i watched this nice video i thought u must have billions of subscribers
Ur really underrated in my opinion
I really appreciate the kind words. I know i haven't posted anything in a while. Just have been working on life. Thank you for your support!
Ive been trying to decide whether i should buy a 1440p 144hz or 4K 60hz for about 2 weeks now. I kinda like the graphic guy like you said, and i dont play high pace fps games. So i think i will go with 4K 60hz. Will the Acer NitroVG280K a good buy? Its currently price at around MYR1000 / 250usd in my country?
Hey Laurel!! 4k the details you get are incredible compared to both 1440p and 1080p imo. Since you don’t play fast paced games then I highly recommend a good 4k 60hz panel! 😎
@@UnrealNeal Yeah. Im sure i'll find 1 thats within my budget. Thanks man.
No problem man! Hope you find one. Lots of good choices out there.
Same here. I think I will go for the 4K 60hz
How did 4k 60Hz felt?
Great job! keep up the good work
Thanks, will do Chris! Thanks for watching.
I'm thinking of going from 1440P 144hz to 4K 60hz.
Reason? I don't play multiplayer games much anymore, and the game states are so unfinished that you can't even maintain the 120FPS limit on high details with DLSS.
There are a lot of games where in 1440P together with 3080+13600K I can't even reach 120FPS at high stable, but 4K ultra runs at 70FPS.
I have the same gpu as you and yes, Makes sense to me! I think you’ll be happy with the experience but test it out. If you’re able to, return the 4k 60hz monitor if you feel it’s not a great experience.
I have 1440p 144hz. I haven't bought the 4K 60hz but I'm thinking about it. But I'm still not sure.
The only thing I'm sure of is that game states will be worse in the future and you won't get 120FPS+ games on Unreal Engine 5.
Games will be released more and more often in worse conditions, where you will still have to deal with the lack of cpu and gpu.@@UnrealNeal
@@-Rizecek- This is 100% true.. They are making people have to rely on DLSS or FSR upscaling tech to push higher frames but to this day it still has its limitations. Ghosting and trails.
One question I have an FHD monitor that I use with a gaming laptop but I want to switch to a 4K monitor for games, but a 4K monitor with 144Hz is very expensive. What do you recommend, do you think a 4K monitor with 60Hz is perfect for games or will I need a 144Hz monitor?
I’d say it depends on you.. I feel I still play great on competitive games on 60hz but others will find high refresh rate better and perform better. Do you like graphics more or raw performance. If you can afford 4k high refresh, I’d say go that route. If pressed for cash, go 4k 60hz. 😎
I’m gonna buy a PC for the first time so thinking of getting 144hz 2k or 60hz 4k, I already have a 4k TV so maybe I can use it when playing AAA titles or sthing like a console, tho I don’t know how it would work out. Although getting another 4k at 27 inch would be much different to a TV so idk
Hey there! Hope you are doing well. 4k at 27inches is def sharper than playing on a bigger size at 4k but it will still look incredible. If you dont care about visuals, def go 2k at 144hz. It wont look as good as 4k but depending on your rig, your fps will be much higher!
I recently bought a LG ERGO UltraFine 32UN880-B 32" (with a very nice 250€ discount) and i'm still waiting for a Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 6950 XT Gaming OC 16GB GPU to be delivered. I still run my current setup with a 1080p 120Hz samsung 24'' monitor with GTX 1070 Ti on Nobara Linux (not the best compatibility, I know) .I'm a bit worried about the drop in refresh rate in terms of smoothness but I could not find a better deal without spending . Also LG does not offer 4k 120hz ultrafine monitors with the ergo arm-stand . I can't wait to finally have full kernel integration, Nvidia drivers are still a pain to work with on linux.
Thanks for sharing Hugo! Great monitor and great future gpu! If you enable that freesync/VRR, its gonna be a smooth experience man! Just remember to lock fps 2 under. So 58 fps. Playing at higher fps does feel better due to lower input latency but i find i can still play very well! Hope you enjoy that new monitor and new gpu Hugo!
32 inch 4K 60 hz Phillips monitor with a GTX 1080 playing World of Warcraft with no issues, I raid with 20 other people and it looks amazing, also playing other games with no issues! I can’t go back to my 1440p 144 hz monitor I like the visuals too much, I’m building a new PC, I5 12400 and bought and RTX 3070, can’t wait too get it going!
Hey John! Thanks for sharing! Congrats and I’m happy you are happy with your decision!! Good luck on the new build and happy gaming! 😎
Here to tell you that I’m rocking a FE 3070 with an r5 5600; even with this mid-cpu I’m steady rocking 4k60 bro. You’re gonna have an AMAZING time 🔥
Thanks man, great video.
Glad you liked it! Take care and be safe 😎
Can't find a list of games that are 'better' for high Hz gaming... Been rocking dual 24in 1080p60Hz monitors for a while now. Need a boost for my recently upgraded PC with a 4070Ti. Same question: 1440p165Hz at 27in or 4k60Hz 27in... Go to games are: hollow knight, Borderlands 3, Skyrim, Fallout 4, Farcry 5, and soon to be Hogwarts legacy. Been shopping for the 1440 for the "performance" but I value graphic quality over being a zoomy boi. Thoughts?
Yooooo Noah! Since you’re a graphics. Guy like me and With that gpu I’d def go 4k high refresh or 60hz (make sure it’s a quality panel)! You can use DLSS3 for more performance as well. Dlss will always look better at 4k than 1440p or 1080p imo. Especially with hair. You got good taste in games! 😎
ive been playing games at high graphics with a 4k monitor sometimes using dlss with the rtx 3060 and it is amazing
Thank you for sharing! It definitely is a great experience.
I just got a 27 inch lg monitor 4k 60hz. All I need is 60fps on my xbox and ps5 so good for me. The image looks amazing, my monitor supports hdr 10 but I turned hdr off right away because I like very punchy colors on my games, bright colors. Looks amazing.
Happy for you!! Your preference matters. Hope you enjoy your games and new monitor!
i have the same samsung monitor except i have freesync instead of gsync compatility , i set my frame rate to 58 fps and also enabled Vsync on my games , is it enough or should i enable freesync on my nvidia panel and my monitor menu ? and does it add any value to the image ? apart from that excellent video and a slap to a lot of 4k haters ! peace
Hey there!! You have to enable compatible g-sync in control panel and either enable bench in game or in control panel. As for image quality, it does add to the smoothness of the image but that’s about it. Especially when panning in open world games! No more stutters and screen tear free 😁 and thank you! 💪
hi! can you make a video about hardware gpu scheduling on vs off. ive been wondering which one is better for gaming. also is there any way to lower cpu usage and put more load in gpu instead ?
YOO UDespair! I def can make the videos, it will take me a bit of time though ooor I can also just tell you here lol Let me know which you prefer. If you are willing to wait, i got you!
@@UnrealNeal sure take ur time i can wait. and thanks!
I got you!
My kid can use a TV upgrade. Just got the Xbox series x. Using a 32" 1080p. Only smallest 4k TV I see is 43" 4k. But only 60refresh rate. Is that OK or does it need 120refresh?
Hey John! That’s perfectly fine. I’d recommend 120hz if he’s competitive gaming. I.e Fortnite, cod, etc. other than that? I’d say 60hz is perfectly fine in my opinion!
I have 3 different monitors I only use one at a time depending on what I feel like. First is an Ultrawide Dell S3422DWG 144Hz 3440x1440p, second is a MSI MAG274QRF-QD 2560x1440x165Hz, the third is a 4K 60Hz Acer Predator XB321HK which I've had since around 2017. I'm trying to decide on which monitor to play Ghost of Tsushima when it releases in a couple of days.
4k!!! Although… playing on an Oled with hdr… oh man.
@@UnrealNeal My next monitor without a doubt is going to be 4K OLED, I've tried a 4K OLED with HDR True Black 500 and it looks incredible.
Something tells me you haven't been experiencing true 120 hz or above gaming. That whatever monitor you were using, didn't have high enough refresh rates to *actually* update the pixels fast enough. The motion clarity is just too good to pass up. Why would anyone ever trade that for a slightly crispier image, especially when you can just use sharpening filters or DLSS to get the same clarity?
Hey bro
I am thinking about buying 4k 60hz monitor with free sync and hdr10 for older games like DOOM 2016 or some newer games on my PC and future console ps5 or xbox series x. Is woth buyimg 120 hz 4k monitor for these or not? I have PC with rtx 4070 and i5 13500 and 32 gb of ram
And how much inches to feel the quality? 32' or 28'
Hey man! I’d say go with a 120hz 4k if you got the extra money. It’s definitely worth it. You can use DLSS to upscale for more fps. As for screen size, it’s subjective for 4k but I’d go 32inch or higher. Lots of reasons but scaling 4k on a small screen kind of sucks. Although At 28 it really is sharp and pixel density is very high! But I’ve been using a 4k 32icnh Oled and it’s great!
ordered samsung viewfinity s8 32 inch4k but it is 5ms and 60 hz, good for productivty?
Definitely great for productivity! 4k at 32 inches is very nice for space on screen. 😎 and it’s an IPS. Great colors and good viewing angles. I’d say it’s a win!!!
I run 4k 60+ 7800x3d cpu & 7900xt can never go back 4k has saved my life multiple times in Squad lol
I play on a 55” 4k 60hz tv on my ps5 slim and on my pc (rtx 4070) i also have a 27” 1440p 165hz gaming monitor for fps games on pc (cs2 mostly) but tbh i prefer playing on the tv because it’s just so much more immersive especially story games like cyberpunk 2077, witcher 3, assasins creed valhalla, god of war etc. i love how good 4k looks and i can just sit on my couch and play
Thank you for sharing krisu!! Definitely has pros to being able to sit back, relax, and enjoy your games on a big screen.
Hi, can you help me decide which one to get? Im considering getting the lenovo y27h-30 (27" 144hz 1440p) or the HP 732p( 31.5" 60hz 4k). I found someone sellinh the HP at a cheaper price (half the price of the lenovo.
Also, im just a casual gamer. Ill mostly use it connected to my switch to play taiko or zelda botw
Hey there!! That hp looks like it’s pretty good quality! If you’re just casual and not competitive, I’d say get that sexy crisp 4k image and enjoy!
@@UnrealNeal thank you so much for responding sir ! ☺️
I got you!! 😉
Tbh after getting a PC thats powerful enough to push 4k60hz and trying it, I didn't really find it to be worth the hype.
I also came from a pretty small 1080p monitor, so the ppi increase wasn't actually that much for my 4k monitor at 27".
I also feel a bit insecure about keeping up with the latest GPU when going 4k so it might be a bit of a hassle. Like, I only found out that an RTX 3080 works better for 4k than a 4070 because of bandwidth a week after I grabbed a used 3080. So I feel like going 1440p would last longer as 4k can hit so many bottleneck like raw performance + bandwidth limitations, whilst 1440p usually functions fine on most modern cards.
So I think I'll look around physical stores for 1440p 165hz monitors to test them out and see if I prefer them or not.
If I really like them I'll probably switch to that, but I can always keep my 4k60hz monitor for media creation or watching stuff.
Thanks for sharing! I actually went back to 1440p but a Alienware oled ultrawide. 🤫 I did regret it because I missed crispy 4k... but months later I've gotten used to it and at a good distance, 1440p still looks great! And reasons you said is why i decided to keep gaming on the ultrawide and keeping 4k 60hz on the side for console gaming. Hope you find a great monitor that you like.
4k 60hz with dlss may look perfect on stills, but when things move, the image quality falls apart due to temporal blur and 16.67 ms of persistence. I perfer no anti aliasing on 1080p. As long as the game doesn't try to render more detail than the grid of pixels can display, jagged edges are a minor problem in my opinion. Backlight strobing can significantly reduce eye tracking blur, but at 60 hz, the screen brightness needs to be low in order to avoid visible flickering. Thay's why I rather use it at 90 hz or more, on a viewsonic xg2431 monitor. I use v-sync with an in game framerate limiter at exactly the refresh rate. This is enough to reduce the lag by a lot and eliminate stuttering, as long as the gpu can keep up of course (which can be quite hard, as g-sync isn't compatible with backlight strobing as of right now)
I'm waiting for stochastic anti aliasing, foveated supersampling/undersampling and eye movement compensated motion blur. In theory, these techniques can trick our eyes into perceiving 1000 hz with pretty much endless resolution, while only rendering ~4k 100 fps
Thank you for sharing your opinions on the topic! I def have to look into the anti aliasing techniques you mentioned in the latter.
I play on a 4k smart TV. It is 60hz but has GAME MODE and boasts thats it has a 240 MOTION RATE. My experience is smooth and good for gaming. Im usually capped at 120 solid.
I have a tv that does the same thing in my living room! input lag isnt noticeable either, which is incredible. Thanks for sharing!
it is actually fine, if i am playing on a huge monitor and i am like ~2 meters or more away from the screen. it would look stupid if i am playing on an arm's length distance
Agreed. I had the LG 42 inch C2 😂 had to move it back quite a bit.
For gaming on a xbox series x do you recommend 1440p or 4k, I mainly play games like RDR2, AC odessey and SOT. Not sure becasue I have heard some people say 1440p is better and because it plays much smoother its a better experience.
I’d have to agree with the latter. 1440p will be smoother because the Xbox will be able to push more fps than when playing at 4k. But! If you don’t play competitive and are single player or just casual, 4k will be noticeably sharper. I hope this helps.
Sir - If you can suggest which is better for normal work 4K 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz vs QHD 2560 x 1440 at 75 Hz? Thanks!
@@piyushsinha9698 hello there! Definitely go 4k as text will be much sharper (depending on panel type and pixel layout). And scale it appropriately to how you like it. 😉
@@UnrealNeal Thanks a lot, Sir. Both are from Dell S2722DC vs. S2722QC. Sorry as I don't have any knowledge about panel and pixel layout. If you can help.
@piyushsinha9698 No worries! there are many different panel types. Main ones used are IPS, VA, OLED, TN. All have draw backs but I find IPS to be great between all in my experience. Pixel layout could be RGB, GRB, etc. it will effect how the text is rendered on screen. Safe to go RGB always.
@@UnrealNeal Thanks a lot Sir for nicely explaining the things!
@piyushsinha9698 you’re most welcome! Thank you for supporting the me by watching my video ✌️
would it be possible to run triple A games on a laptop with 3k resolution and rtx 3050
Hey there! It’s gonna be pretty rough.. but I think you can get away with it if you lower graphic settings and use dlss or fsr upscaling methods.
@@UnrealNeal ok, I could also lower the resolution right? Will that help. And how much fps are we talking?
It will definitely help. But for a 3050? Try to find videos of benchmarks. Plenty on RUclips. Search with your cpu in the laptop as well
I have a 65" Sony Bravia a80cl. It can do up to 4k 120hz...also, if you're gonna go to 4k, dont cheap out. Get an OLED TV or monitor. Well worth it!
I have a console ps5 which limits me to 4k 120hz
I dont have that kind of money
The best i can buy is 1440p more 144 or 165hz
Or i can get a 4k 60hz monitor
And i mostly play story driven games cant decide
Also the 4k monitor i founded is a smart lg monitor with the web os 😅i see u have been replying to comments even after a whole year would love ur opinion
I so sorry for replying so late!!! Life got to me lol but i know your pain in searching for a new monitor and you probably already made your decision by now. Although my two cents is, if you love graphics and only play story driven games, a 4k monitor with VRR will be just fine!!! I personally went back to 1440p and missed the crispyness of 4K lol Save your money with 4k60 and then when prices come down for 4k high refresh, jump on it! In my opinion.
@@UnrealNeal i actually bought a 1440p 144hz benq mobiux ex2710q 27inches
Great choice! How are you liking it?
Tbh it’s still pretty smooth and looks really good!
I can totally FEEL your experience...I went to a Mall and asked them can i play a video on 4k and 1440p monitor side by side? They arrenged me that...I played a 4k video of red dead redemption 2 from RUclips on both monitors and every single person was nearby said "amazingly different" And I got shocked to.. the 4k monitor was LG 27UL500 and the 1440p one was LG 27GL850 ...4K one was way more noticeably better in sharpness and overall picture quality.
That’s awesome Creed! Glad you got to see a live comparison. I actually got the 27gl850 in the past and returned it! The high refresh rate was amazing but if you use dlss or taa in games like red dead, 1440p is blurry compared to 4k! It’s all personal preference. I prefer a crisp image. If I can’t get high refresh due to budget constraints, then 60hz is just fine 😎 imo. I know 4k is hard to drive but once worth it if you can spend the money.
@@UnrealNeal oh yah, i played the game on 1080p but i am gonna play again. On 4k this time with no upscale technology. Bcz i already paid half price of 4080 in advance and just tomorrow my card will arrive to my nearest shop. And I just need to buy a 4k monitor. I can buy one in next 2 months of saving.
That’s awesome man!! Congrats on the new card! But yes!! Upscaling tech is nice but ghosting and dark trails can be a deal breaker with dlss.
@@UnrealNeal yes upscale technology is good but i am going for 4k so i can enjoy that sharpness, right? So for me if I turn on dlss or fsr so that would be a waste of money on the monitor...
Yes, you’ll be fine! 4k is amazing
Anything between 60 and 120 fps is super smooth... especially if you are not a pro gamer playing fast paced multiplayer shooters. And it looks soooo much better in 4k.
Nobody that ever played at 4k@90+fps would EVER go back to 1440p@200+fps. That's a fact
What’s better 120hz 1080 or 60hz 4k
@@covector47874k 60hz better than 1440p 120 for single player games that isn't Doom or a boomer shooter.

On the colors setting rgb I leave red 50 green down to 45 and blue down to 48. That’s pretty much all I changed 😂 Less green tint.
I prefer 1080p at 144 Hz or even 120 Hz for PC but consoles at 4k60 are really nice. I do not own a 1440p monitor and only have 4 GB of VRAM so I don't know that I could easily drive 1440p.
@@pip5528 hey pip! Thanks for sharing your opinion. But yeah.. definitely need at least 8gb of vram for 1440p. Textures add up, unless you wanna run textures on low medium though!
1080 - 60hz. why?, becuase i am too poor to afford a better one or gpu
No shame in that Giannak! Imo 1080p is still great to play on and 60hz isn’t bad! 😎
3080 ti but why you use AMD Free-sync monitor not a G-Sync monitor..?
Hey Umar! The monitor is gsync compatible and works really well! Of course the vrr range isn’t that great but still great
@@UnrealNeal SAMSUNG U28R550UQNX / LU28R550UQNXZA / LU28R550UQNXZA 28 4K UHD Monitor with AMD Free Sync (Renewed)
I go to the link but the spec doesn't say about G-Sync compatible, just AMD Free-Sync compatible, I'm a bit confused.. I'm planning to buy 3080 Ti and same monitor like you..
Ohh! It just means it isn’t certified by nvidia but from my testing it works very well with my 3080ti. Just make sure you use DisplayPort. Free sync doesn’t work through hdmi on this monitor due to limitations.
@@UnrealNeal So I can enable G-Sync in any 4K monitor by using display port..? Sorry I'm new in this, just use Macbook Retina before.. I wanna built one 4K multi use PC.. Not a very high end.. Just enough like yours..
Don’t be sorry! I’m happy to help. But no, some monitors function well with gsync(free sync) but others can have issues like flickering or stuttering. Always research before buying. The monitor I have works great with gsync/free sync though like I said 😏 official gsync monitors are more expensive, about $200 to $300 dollars more because they have a actual module/hardware built into the monitor.
I want to buy an i9 12k 3090 machine for rendering 4k vids and playing single player games like Assassin's creed, RDR2... 4k 60hz or 1440p 165hz monitpr?
I have a 10850k and a 3080ti and rendered 4k videos without a hitch! Although you’d want to proxy the files before editing still. And perfect for those games at 4k 60 or 1440 high refresh!
6:09 I've played 1080p 120hz and now play 4K 60hz with freesync. No going back! Yes I do play competitive fps.
Playing at high refresh has its perks.. but if you’re no competitive player, it’s definitely an enjoyment playing games at 4k!!! Game on Jose!
Hello from Greece...I bought the exact same monitor with you 3 months ago.Very nice experience. I play only e football,Forza horizon 5 and assassin's Creed Odyssey -valhala. Do you believe that these games are ok with the 60 hz ? For me it's perfect but sometimes I think about upgrading for more refresh rate but for 4k 144hz with ips panel I must spend at least 600 euros here in Greece.Your answer would be very appreciated.
Hey there! I’ll tell you my opinion on the matter. I have experience with both 4k 60hz and 4k high refresh rate. The high refresh rate is great for competitive titles like Counter strike, overwatch, or call of duty to name a few. The responsiveness you get is great and will help you be a better player.
But I switched back and forth from 60hz and 165hz and I honestly played and had a great experience and was still competitive on both. Being so use to 60hz, it only took me a little bit to readjust to the input lag and I was able to compete! You get a much clear and smooth imagine on 165hz though.
I think 60hz is still perfect for you. The games you play don’t require high fps to have a great experience. Call me crazy but I finished God of War with 30fps lock 😂 It saves on power and heat and I still enjoyed the game! Takes me to my next point.
You need a great cpu and gpu combo to push high fps at 4k. Dlss can help with this and lowering graphic fidelity. You can see my rig in description and it’s no slouch, but with newer titles it’s tough for me to consistently reach 120fps and up in heavily graphical games. If you have a great rig already, I’d say you can go for it. Or save your money and stick with 4k 60hz till better monitor technology comes out and gets cheaper like oled. Or another option is to get the 4k 144hz ips and play around with locking fps for non competitive titles. It’s all down to personal preference.
I hope this helps! 😎
@@UnrealNeal Yes you helped me a lot. Thanks for your answer. Although I am an Radeon user,so no dlss for me!! Only fsr.I will keep my perfect monitor... Greetings
Fsr 2.0 is just as good as dlss! It’s only gonna get better for team red! I’m happy to help! My advice would be to enjoy what you have right now. It really is a great monitor! Keep till it breaks, then upgrade 😎
@@UnrealNeal 🙏
getting a 1k gpu and then not a 200$ monitor seems backwards to me
Just got a 32 inch 4k60 monitor and I'm pumped I found this video. I'm definitely more of a graphics guy than frames, too.
Quick question about the 58 frames you use for the render latency example you did. Why did you choose 58 and not 59 or even 60?
Hey Tom! You won’t regret it!! 4k high refresh rate monitor prices are going down but still need a good gpu and cpu combo to power it.
You can but the reason why I chose 58 is when using VRR(variable refresh rate) or free sync/gsync you wanna lock your framerate under what your refresh rate is. Sorry if I’m getting a bit confusing lol but VRR has a hz range. If you are outside that range you won’t get the benefits. 😎
@@UnrealNeal sounds good! If I locked it at 59 would that be okay?
Should be fine! Just watch the render latency and make sure it’s not high
@@UnrealNeal Thanks! Just got my PC built and about to dive in. I noticed in your video for the latency example that you had your resolution at 1440p. Do you normally do that for all your games, or just some?
Congrats on the pc Tom! 1440p was my monitors max resolution is all. So I just used that. But for the most part, yes, I do use it in all games. I globally set 58 fps in nvidia control panel.
The only time 60 hz isn't enough for me is competitive shooters.
Lol 😆 subscribed
You’re officially awesome to me lol! Not that you already were haha! Thank you! 😎
I've been playing cod for years at 60hz on a 1080
As long as you’re still enjoying your games, that’s all that matters! 💪
I bought AERO LAPTOP which came with 4k@60 amoled display.
And I would say that I had much better experience than 1080p@120 ips.
Note: I like story games more than fps games so I have no problem with 60hz display 👍
@@Hussein_mari amoled is gorgeous!!! Great screen. And it being 4k is icing on the cake. Glad you’re enjoying it!!
@@UnrealNeal Thanks bro♥️♥️🌟
I don't necessarily agree with everything presented here, but this is a juicy debate as of late. We do have the 144hz+ 4k monitors now as of 2023. The Gigabyte M28U, for example, is 144hz 4k and $550 here in the States. Another question is, how will the superior contrast and hdr capability of oled panels affect this decision? 4k oleds are available in larger screen sizes and will hopefully soon be available in more standard monitor sizes. But is an ultrawide 1440p oled superior than a 4k 144hz ips with poor contrast? That's what I personally wonder.
tldr; There are so many factors to consider when evaluating the quality of a monitor and the gaming/desktop/media experience they provide. Raw pixel count is one of them, but so is motion handling, contrast, color gamut, hdr capability, etc.
Thanks for sharing max! I respect your opinion. You’re right about the factors that come into play when choosing your monitor. I myself now have the Alienware 1440p oled. The deep blacks and contrast is amazing but the sharpness, blur (games with taa), and jaggies that show can be annoying at 1440p. I find myself at times missing 4k. I just enjoy the crisp visuals it provides. High hz is also nice. I tried the 42inch lg oled but felt it was just too big for desktop usage. Wish you luck on your future decisions!
@@UnrealNeal another one that is interesting is the lg 240hz 1440p oled. That’s a 27” but res is not 4k
Definitely and it’s not an ultra wide which can be a plus for some. I’m not sure if I’m a fan of ultra wide yet 😂
@@UnrealNeal well how long have you had the Alienware … I have one and it’s been growing on me more
Aboutttt, six months now. I love the monitor! Don’t get me wrong. Has more positives than cons imo. To help out my missing of 4k sharpness, I’ve been using dldsr.
I use a 32in 1440p with 165hz
Not a bad choice at all! I went to 1440p 175hz OLED and i do miss the clarity of 4K...
Mann I’m on a 1440p 27in. 120hz only because that’s what i assumed was the best for the Xbox s🤦🏿♂️
1440p is still great at 27 inches!!! You don’t like that it’s only 120hz?
60hz was not the only option back in the day u had the option 30hz loö
Here are the list of games that I play:
Portal
Portal 2
Portal Stories: Mel
The Talos Principle
Final Fantasy 1-6 Pixel
Dragon Quest XII S Definitive Edition
Flux Caves (a fun 3D puzzle game)
Bioshock Infinite (haven't played it in a while)
The Witness (open world puzzle game; man these grid-based puzzles are hard, especially Tetris puzzles!)
Final Fantasy VII to IX
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy XV
The Witcher 3
QUBE
QUBE 2
Bioshock Infinite
Quake II RTX
Quantum Conundrum
So yeah, I don't think I need 120Hz for those games that I played, but is 120Hz really that much of an improvement for games such as Quake II RTX, Final Fantasy XV, and The Witcher 3? Speaking of Quake II, I used to play that old game back when my family used to have an IBM Aptiva computer. It's got a Pentium II 233MHz with ATI Rage Pro at 2MB of RAM. The monitor's refresh rate was set to 85Hz. I honestly think 120Hz won't make me a better gamer when it comes to single-player games.
Update: Oh, you are playing Cyberpunk! Nice!! :D Maybe I should get that game. I have an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X and RTX 4070 (non-Ti) GPU.
Hey there!! High refresh definitely improves the gaming experience but in my opinion doesn’t matter in the games you play! Especially single player. But in games like quake, you’ll definitely love the 120hz for those reaction times.
In short, If you love graphics, 4k60 is great. If you wanna give yourself a better advantage and care about being on top of the leaderboards, lower res with high refresh is the way to go.
@@UnrealNeal Nah... Leaderboards and competition is not for me. I'm more about having fun rather than having an advantage over other players and like I said, I only play single-player games. My question is, how am I suppose to tell a difference between 60 and 120Hz even in single player games such as Quake II and Cyberpunk 2077?
@graysonpeddie ohhh! My apologies. from my experience, you will notice a smoother picture and more responsive feel compare it 60hz to 120hz.
@@UnrealNeal Thanks. I for one wish there are some games that might do a blind test to see if I can notice any differences between 60Hz and 120Hz without involving my loved ones or friends. Because sometimes I might guess 60Hz but then the correct answer would be 120Hz and I might even guess 120Hz but then the correct answer would be 60Hz.
@graysonpeddie no problem gray. Dawiddoestech (I think this is his name) does a test to see if his girlfriend can tell the difference.
If only there was a popular resolution between 1440p and 4k. 1440p is too similar to 1080p
Hey Pat! I agree 100% I recently went back to 1440p for high refresh rate and it’s just not close to 4k. I’m a kind of guy that gets a kick out of the detail and less jaggy picture that 4k provides. To each his/her own.
in the video you said that ps5 and xbox series x can go 120hz at 1080p. no, they can do it at 4K!
Yeah, but whoops on my part! Sorry about that.
48" 1080hd TV😂. Couldn't afford a nicer TV after the 3090😢
You afford what you can afford Lucas! My pockets hurt after getting my 3080ti too 😭
In my research, (higher refresh rates/hertz) are much better than (higher resolutions). This is the reason why:
I mainly play (non-FPS games). Fallout 4 for example. I played (Fallout 4) on two different devices.
Device 1:
-Fallout 4: played on (Xbox One S)
-Monitor: Monitor that supports 4k UHD
For playing (Fallout 4) on device 1, everything was optimal. Great (still pictures/slow moving pictures -> because of 4k). Great (fast moving pictures-> fast moving pictures were non-blurry -> because of 60 Hertz).
Device 2:
-Fallout 4: played on (Xbox One S)
-connected (Xbox One S) to a high end desktop pc.
-The desktop pc only supports (1080p and 60Hz).
When I was playing (Fallout 4) on the (desktop pc). The (fps/resolution) of the game wasn’t even that bad. It was in 1080p though. I even watch RUclips videos in 1080p.
However, the bad thing that I experienced for (device 2) was the (MOVING PICTURES/MOVING FRAMES). If I were to go (walking/running) in (Fallout 4), my surroundings would be (kind of blurry/kind of grainy). This is what happens when you play at (60 Hz).
So, what would be better for you to use?
-A (4k monitor--> that supports 60 Hz)?
-A (1080p monitor-> that supports 120 Hz)?
A (1080p monitor-> that supports 120 Hz) would be better, unless you like to look at (MOVING PICTURES/MOVING FRAMES) that are (kind of blurry/kind of grainy).
Hertz > resolution
I respect your opinion 100%! I went back to 1440p @ 180hz and man… you’re right but I still believe 4k60hz has a place for people who want a crispy image and don’t wanna spend a lot of money on a high refresh rate 4k monitor. Like casual gamers. Would need to spend big bucks on pc hardware to run as well.
Thank you for sharing!
@@UnrealNeal use a (display port). Display ports) are more superior than (HDMI cables)
Yep! Faster data rates. But if hdmi is 2.1, it’s pretty close.
@@UnrealNeal no, check the specs of a (DisplayPort 2.1 cable). It blows (HDMI 2.1) out of the water. I will try to post the Amazon link. However, it may not show because of RUclips.
@@UnrealNeal These are the specs of (DisplayPort 2.1)
-(Display port cable) 2.1
4K@240Hz 165Hz 144Hzc
8K@120Hz
16K@60Hz. ($13.99)
i have 4k 60 hz but set to 1080p 60 hz😆
till you can upgrade? lol
I game in 1080p at 60hz. Anyone who whines that you can't has never played on a CRT.
Yeah, high refresh rate is great!! But 60hz is definitely playable and a cheap and cost effective way to enjoy your games. Keep rocking with what you got! Happy gaming.
Ps5 supports 4k 120 not just at 1080p
Yeah! i screwed up there. I believe Sony had to update it to support 120hz and i got it wrong. Apologies.
@@UnrealNeal no worries brother
I stay with 25" 4k 60hz dell
Idk 25 inch it's the perfect spot for me
And there's no 4k 144hz less than 27 inch
Yoooo Okky! Oh man! That display must be sharp at 25inch 4k. Pretty high PPi. Lots of people on the internet would recommend 32 inch for 4k. I got a 28 inch and it looks incredible. Text and graphics are so sharp with no jagged lines/aliasing.
I went to a 1440p 165hz and while it was smooth, I missed the graphical fidelity you get from 4k! Was driving me nuts. Games that use TAA are worse at 1440p and are blurry.
I’d love to grab me a 4k 144hz but even my 3080ti can’t reach 144hz at 4k in a lot of titles maxed out. So till then, I’m sticking to 60hz 4k like you ✌🏼 thanks for sharing!!
FIGHTING GAMES!!!
60fpa is not stupid, it's a basic necessity, but 4k is uninformed nonsense
120 and up is better
Definitely feels better Danny! Just still expensive atm.
60hz and 120hz is the same thing just maybe the 120hz is a bit cooler
60hz is just cheaper and not a big difference
And you don’t need a beefy gpu and cpu combo to push high fps at 4k. 4K gaming is gorgeous!
@@UnrealNeal i game with 4k 60 hz and its NOT Stupid
Speak it Rundessel! 😎
@@UnrealNeal i am gonna use a ps5 soon
Nice!! Congrats! I don’t have one but a PS5 is awesome.
Just get a 4K 240hz monitor 😂 future proof when you can afford the frames
And Oled 😉
