My kind of stitching!! Play, have fun, and it usually ends up being pleasing. If not, I have a container for it under my machine table. Hah! Happy holidays.

I want to create a wool penny stitch mat....what do you recommend using for the base fabric? What works best? Wool? Linen? A double layer of a good flannel?

Melinda Fisher hi! If you are using it as a mat I think wool would be best. ❤️

May I ask which of your long arm machine brands do you like better? I have been researching both brands. Thanks

Rebecca Renner hi Rebecca , deciding on a longarm is so difficult. It’s the same as buying a car. It’s a hefty investment and everyone likes and looks for different things. So I like different things about both brands. What I love about my innova is that there is a 800# for free customer service that is good 24/7...literally. They always answer and help you work through any issues. I’m hard on my machines and I have to replace things frequently ...however the dealer in my area I am not a fan...so if I can’t fix it myself I have to work with him. So a big factor in my preferred choice of machine was that I really like my local Gammil dealer. He is very nice, easy to work with and helps with anything I need. My innova(s) has an oil -less head...and I quilt more quilts than the average bear so I have to replace my motor every year. Which is expensive. My father In law has learned how to take them apart , buys the replacement parts from China and fixes them for me so I don’t have that yearly cost. But I’m blessed. Gammill doesn’t have an oil-less head...so I don’t have to replace the motors. In fact they said I shouldn’t have to until maybe 13000 quilts. The innova I get about 500 quilts and it needs to be replaced. So if you are just quilting for yourself...and you don’t use it for a business...I think any machine is fine. It just depends on what your personal needs are...clear as mud? I prefer my Gammill because I like my dealer, it’s more oiling but less fixing in the run and honestly it’s a great community of people. There’s lots of support. Classes, cruises, seminars ect. I don’t regret my investment at all. You can email me if you have any other questions.
