love these vids, Its great to see behind the scenes.
Brilliant video!
Really interesting, more more more please Al.
Swedish mechanic has the best voice.
Love these behind the scenes video's! Got any spare tickets for Assen laying around ;)?
What a gorgeous 959! I have a question if you could help. I've got the NWR filter installed already, with an Austin Racing exhaust. I do not want to spend the money on a full Akra system (maybe I can find good second hand prices). Do you think installing the NWR air tubes will make a big spent difference? Thanks!
It’s the Swedish chef mechanic 😂
Nice one,most interesting...
great video more like this please!!!
great video Al, I like the maintenance vids
@4:55 play time
am seeing the last clutch plate installed wrong ?
please advice... Thanks
I've just watched a few of your old-ish TT vids... I've enjoyed BvG for a couple of years or so now... I have thoroughly enjoyed this and the TT vids. Thank you! Mxxx
Ps I rarely comment ;p
That's the most work I've seen Mitch do! 😂😂😂
I wanted MWR at first because I love foam. BUT after some research and technical data from a college; a Sprint AF is the way to go with dynos, fiiltration, and above all practicality with it snapping in, and then blow it clean design....
A question have you flashed the bikes engine management system to develop more torque and power as with the R1 for BVG. If so what software did you use to do this. And what results dod you achieve.
I know this is a bit of an old vid....but Al, please could you and Chris #44teeth arrange for more "behind the scenes" bike mechanic stuff maybe with JHS or someone that doesn't mind having a camera in their face and can explain in simple terms what they are doing and why. This was such a cool vid!!!
Top vid!
I can't get my head around the idea that Ducati thought; we know that people will have to change or check the clutch "with like racing and stuff...." let's make it as time consuming as possible..
It's to try and put people off doing at at home, forcing people to take it to a garage who don't want or have a whole day to faff around with an over engineered motorcycle, just a way of making money
the bike isn't that bad to work on, its just compact which is good for mass centralisation and once u have the other clutch casing on its a doddle. should have been done when the exhausts were changed from stock.
Interesting stuff, thanks Fagan. Would have been better if the mechanic had a mic, he was heard to hear..
what was the fluid in the exhaust at 3:26?
at 1:42 they are washing the bike. I assume it's from washing with the muffler off.
Could be! Surely the would put a bung in it though!
leaking muffler bearing
I've seen the same thing, i found that strange too !
this is 44teeth... so its jizz, obviously!
Is it common practice to use plastic for gear cogs? If I heard correctly that is what the 899 uses.
It will be something like fibre glass reinforced polyethylene, so it's pretty decent for what it's used for.
All panigales do that. 1199, 1299, 899, 959. All use plastic gears.
Yes, it’s actually smart engineering because those gears only run the water pump which does not require much effort (little stress on them). Therefore, it makes more sense to use lightweight high strength “plastic” than heavy steel which would only add rotational inertia to the engine and not provide any needed benefit since the steel would be overkill for turning the pump.
in what class do they race the 899?? it's not in any class so...
whats the torque setting for outer clutch case (engine case) cheers
keep the vids coming 😎
greggan100 just get a service manual and you can have the torque settings for every bolt on the bike 👍
As sexy as so many Italian bikes and cars are, that is kind of thing that probably wouldn't find on a Japanese bike. Who in their right mind is sitting around designing that bike and decides you'll have to strip off the entire side of the bike to replace the clutch pack? I'm currently lusting after the new Ducati Supersport S, but these are the kind of things that make me think an S1000XR, or something like that, is the way to go.
Perhap's , but you will be frustrate at long term... the wet clutch of ducati are very reliable, not necessary to open the cover.
giff74 Supersport S has quickshifter up and down, you shouldn’t ever need to change the clutch unless you don’t know how to ride the thing or keep it for over 50,000 miles and at that point is it really an issue to remove the side once every several years?
What cleaner did mitchell use on the termis? Mine are pretty bleak!
Would also love to know!
I want an 899 or 959 so bad 😃
Fabric is shut mate. No chance of going there now.
Why...why didn't you weigh the stock one and the magnesium one and tell us what the weights are? Why oh why? I really want to know :(
What was the liquid coming out of the exhaust under pipe ?
Condensation
Or Water from them cleaning the bike earlier?
Leave that in when you start and anyone standing behind will get a proper shower. :P
***** Any half decent race team would put plugs in the pipe. 99% chance it was condensation.
Evan Davis Ah, okay.. Is there any real danger with it in there?
***** Nope.
Come do my old vfr exhaust,i wont charge.Tea and toast on a conveyor.
You should have shown the lucky bastard that got to scrape that gasket without any sound editing.
what a absolute brutal bike, even when its naked, pure jizz machine!
45m to the clutch? That's a bit of an issue for racing, yeah?
Steve C well not really. As now they have a new clutch cover that you can buy from Ducati performance. If you are riding on the road you don't really need to change the clutch every 5 mins do you for fuck sake
STOCK ONE PIECE ~1513g
MAGNESIUM ~ 1170g
Weight savings = 343g or 3/4 of a lbs.
That pink Samco hose looks like big massive Desmo intestines 🤪
You need to learn how to keep the camera steady.
Rather than going to Fabric ? Fagan don't you watch the news ? Fabric is no longer.
It was a current affairs comment!
hardcore bike porn 😵 keep up the good work lads 😉
Just one more reason not to buy a Duc. If they can't make the clutch cover separate from the engine side cover, they don't deserve to sell bikes.
I will pull for them in MotoGP, but no way in hell will I ever own one unless it's a Desmo RR.
MrIh8hondas man you talk so much shit.
His mechanic is a mute?
considering that he is responding to al's questions...
I couldn't hear a thing.
Plastic gears... are they for real lol. Also taking al that crap off just to get to the clutch...wow Ducati.
Electrics Nut and now they won't have to. No it does not have plastic gears you idiot that was a joke obviously
polyacetal (POM) or nylon gears... very good for gears no importants , lightnes, smooth, little noise
