@Bass_Playa_Two_Point.O Yes, it is a cover, but I think Skynyrd added so much to it that they made it the definitive version. Shout out to JJ Cale, still love the original.

    Many great songs:
"Tuesday's Gone With The Wind", "That Smell", "Gimme Three Steps", "They Call Me The Breeze", "Don't Ask Me No Questions ", "Saturday Night Special ", "What's Your Name", "You Got That Right".

You choose one of the deeper cuts and so many great and better Skynyrd songs you haven't hit yet especially (all A+ songs): "Saturday Night Special ", "What's Your Name", "Don't Ask Me No Questions". Such a talented and actually one of the cooler bands you have listened to lately. Let's do a back to back Skynyrd and get a reaction to a couple more.

    • @jdw5678

"Saturday Night Special" is an especially strong song. Interesting rhythm scheme, great guitar solo as usual, somewhat controversial topic (gun violence). Hopefully they'll get to it at some point.

Such a captivating riff! One of my favorite songs by them. And the message in this song is very modern in my opinion. They are not talking about prostitution. They are talking about a woman that behave like a lot of men,. enjoying life without accepting societies boundaries.

Skynyrd’s cover of an old Jimmy Rogers song called T for Texas is a great song to hit. From an old yodel number to gritty southern rock. Either Live from Knebworth or from the Live Album One More From The Road.

RVZ was one of a kind. He never wore shoes while performing claiming he "needed to feel the stage." Also, every song he wrote was committed only to memory, not espousing the written form, saying only "If I can't remember them, they're not worth singing." And finally my favorite line of his......"I don't care for fancy music if your feet can't shuffle around." Yeah, he was one of a kind for sure.

Just after my senior year in HS got started in the fall of 77, Skynyrd's chartered plane went down. Damn what a drag that was. In my respectful opinion that was the end of a true legendary band. I know they kept playing but they were never the same again. I'm old now but I've never stopped listening and loving their music. No original members alive now.
    RIP Free Birds !

Did you know...I read once that after the crash the Rossington-Collins Band came THIS CLOSE to poaching Rodgers away from Bad Company. And again when Skynyrd re-formed in the late 80s.Dale Krantz was the right person for Rossington Collins, imo, but I think if Paul would've been the choice for the "new" Skynyrd in the late 80s & beyond, they might have come close to regaining all their old glory. Most of it anyway, no disrespect to Johnny Van Zant, but...anyway.

This has LONG-been my personal favorite (track), off of this album (although: Nuthin' Fancy features the legendary and mind-blowing:
"Saturday Night Special"! -among other bangers!)!
The deep groove. The heaviness. The insistence. The killer chug.
It's all in here and perfectly executed!
    🤘🤘
[I, also, believe that THIS is the album where: Artimus Pyle ["Tommy D."] takes over for Bob Burns, on the kit.
Artimus, definitely, hits harder and plays "heavier." 🤘🤘]

You want to hear a song that'll blow your mind so hard it'll have you picking up the pieces of your brain up off the floor afterward? Double Trouble by Skynrd. Don't press play unless you're tied down, else you'll fly right off.

Dudes.... THIS was a first for me. I was never a huge Lynrd Skynrd fan so this was totally a first listen for me too...🙂 You're right, it was kinda bangy.

Lynyrd Skynyrd is so much more than give me three steps or free Bird. If you listen to their Last Album St., Survivor listen to the whole album there’s just no telling how far they could’ve gone. If they didn’t have that plane crashed they were great musicians everyone of them.

Man! I love this! I lucky to see them at the top of their game in 1976!

I think “Poison Whiskey”, and “I Ain’t the One”, are fun bangers, tell ya what.

This song has always been a banger I come back too. I come back to all of it but this one grabs me from the inside.

One of my very favorite lines is from Gimme Back My Bullets.
"Sweet talkin' people done ran me out of town
And I drank enough whiskey to float a battleship around"

You can NEVER go wrong with Skynyrd 🤘. One of the rock and roll bands ever, regardless of genre IMHO.

If you want some bangers, it's time to hit something from one of the greatest live albums ever - Live at Leeds by The Who. The most epic is My Generation, a 15 minute medley with one banger of a riff after another. Young Man Blues is just as amazing and much shorter. Amazing Journey/Sparks shows Moon at his best. Magic Bus has Daultry playing a mean harmonica. The raw powerful songs keep on comin'.
