I also heard that Luke's tears when he discovered that Pen was Whistledown were unscripted and real because of the emotionally charged nature of the scene.
You are right-Luke Newton confirmed that in an interview. After the first take (with tears) the director said, “Do you think you can do that again?!” and Luke said he could, since that was the emotional space he was in! We don’t know which take was used, but definitely the tears were spontaneous.
@MindiB Luke also said that it was the end of a very long day, and everyone was tired. The emotions just overtook him and they fit, so he rolled with it.
@@marywilliams-marter3697 You’re right; I’d forgotten. This sort of background information is fascinating to me. . . I’m always curious about the “process” and the different ways actors approach their craft. Luke Newton seems remarkably emotionally available and authentic in his performances.
@@ginahouston9352 And this is why I have decided that Luke Newton is now and forever will be my Internet boyfriend. You missed the one at the end when Colin was meant to lean down and kiss his son but when he saw how Pen was looking up at him he leaned over and kissed her instead.
The hair clip also created a continuity error. She had it on at the ball, she ripped it off and tossed it before leaving in the carriage and yet the original was bac on her head once she was home and penning the next Whistledown column.
@@canuck3169 You’re right-but Cressida is the sort to have her shoes custom made with sharp little stiletto heels for just such an occasion! The best, most spontaneous unscripted moment of all, you chose to omit. Why? Anthony kisses Kate during their dance and you don't show it. That was a delightful moment. What was so special about Penelope removing a hair clip?
@@Nazaba09 Jonathan might be gay, but Anthony Bridgerton isn't. And have you watched their interviews together. Simone and Jonathan have so much chemistry it leaps off the screen. I think they have more chemistry than all the others put together, even the choreographer commented on it
The info given on the carriage scene is 100% false. The actors have given interviews describing being in the carriage for several days to make sure every moment was perfectly choreographed. There's no way the actors "didn't hear the director yell cut due to the movement of the carriage". The carriage wasn't actually moving as this scene was completed in a building so that they would have privacy. The carriage "movement" was created by people on the outside moving the carriage. Antony's kiss was scripted as well. He did not just "feel the time was natural"; the actor is homosexual and did not feel natural to kiss a female at all. PLEASE watch the casts' interviews to get REAL information.
But the actors in carriage scene confirmed that they didn't hear the director- because the carriage was basically sound proof, they couldn't hear much outside
I disagree about Jonathan Bailey. Just because the actor is himself gay in real life doesn't mean he can't actually envision certain ways his character can act. Jonathan is a tremendous actor who can immerse himself in his character and having played this part for 3 seasons we can believe he can really know how his alter ego would act. I have gay friends who kiss members of the opposite sex at certain times.
A rude piece of cardboard? Wow. We weren't watching the same show. I'm an autistic woman who watched an actress deliver a wonderful performance. Francesca is a more subtle character. She is not like any of her sisters or other members of the ton we have seen but that is very intentional. Her neurodivergency requires a use of body language, expressions, tone and preparation from her actress. Hannah will be delightful to see as the main female lead. Especially because her own season will allow her more screen time to show her talents.
