Pereira isn’t only the most active, but he’s torn through two divisions. There’s absolutely no way you can put Islam or Jones above him if you take activity into account. Especially when Jones is ducking Aspinall.
Pereira did not tear through MW 🤣 Strickland and Adesanya are the only top 15 fighters from MW he faced, both strikers. You are a certified casual
@@GS-rm7fv That is a very good point. I stand corrected. He still reached the top of two divisions though - let’s not pretend he would’ve lost to the likes of Cannonier, Vettori, Costa etc though lol. P.S. I’m not a casual but that was a pretty casual mistake by me 🤣
1000% true
🦆
You are a clown. How could Jones duck Aspinal when he’s been booked to fight Stipe for almost two years? Why would he mess up that legacy fight two years in the making? Makes no sense. You are like the democrats and repeat what the news tells ya. Instead of the news, you repeat what the casuals say.
khabib retired undefeated because he retired at 32…chama defends the belt 3 times in 7 months at 37 years of age….plus 5 former champions compared to khabib’s 2…two division champ vs single division…this is hardly a conversation now
Khabib wasnt fast tracked to the title.
@@albertgarcia9273khabib only fought 2 legit guys Dustin and Justin and khabib has fought tomato cans and Alex was already glory 2 division champion and he defeated Strickland and Izzy
@@Culture_2520 ok. What other “legit guys” were available and ranked at the time that he didnt fight?
@@Culture_2520 Strickland sucks.
@@Culture_2520 RDA isn't legit? And Conor was literally a double champ. Casual spotted.
Im an Islam and khabib fan but I right now Pereira is p4p king. Props to him
If he wasn't number one before this fight I'm not sure beating the number 8 ranked fighter in your division makes you number one lol
You can't really be p4p best when you have glaring holes in your game. Alex is an elite striker but his ground game and wrestling is weak. UFC is protecting him because he's so fun and they have no stars. Until we see Alex face an elite wrestler who tries to get him down over and over it's real hard for me to rate his game as complete.
@@chrishayes5755you casuals will find ANYTHING to complain about. Even when Alex knocks Magomed out... you'll be like "Alex only won bc magomed didn't wrestle. Alex has beaten like 5 world champions who's been doing MMA way longer than him. Stop with the excuses
@@MAkAVeLlIiiiit's simply true. I'd put Pereira higher on GOAT list than p4p
Khabib has been out of the game for almost 5 years and people are still talking about him. There's an unhealthy obsession with this guy. Why compare two guys from two different weight classes that fought in different timelines?
Pereira wasn't even in the UFC when Khaibb retired from the sport of MMA.
It's like comparing Charles Oliveira with Anderson Silva. Complete nonsense.
People need to take in consideration that Pereira fights in the weakest, less talented division in MMA.
The LHW division is washed, let's be honest. And the only guy who could give Alex some real problems isn't in Dana White's plans for the future. He'd rather have Rakic or Ulberg as the new faces of this division once Pereira leaves the UFC.
Khabib beat 2 world champions in his whole career.
Alex so far has beaten 5 (4 KO’s )
Not to forget that he is a 2 division weight champ. The guy had the best start in ufc history.
Ofcourse how can he defeat other UFC champions when it was not offered by UFC? But without a doubt, Khabib can easily defeat and smash former UFC champions
- Henderson who was knockout by Dos Anjos and chocked by Usman Nurmagomedov. Khabib will easily smash him.
- Pettis who lost to Dos Anjos, submitted by Poirier and knockout by Ferguson. Khabib will easily smash him also.
- Alvarez who was knockout by Poirier & McGregor. Did you forget that Khabib easily choked McChicken and Poirier?
- Edgar who lost to Henderson twice, lost to Aldo twice. Khabib will easily smash him.
- Penn who lost to Edgar 3 times. If Penn can't win against Edgar, how can he defeat Khabib?
- Oliveira who was knockdown and choked by Islam. Khabib will smash him easily and choke.
@@supergangstar1234but never defend his MW title because he got knock tf out...and khabib is Undefeated never bleed a dominant fighter, islam face more high caliber fighters for his title defence, beat volk the no2pfp twice, poirier with a war..., alex is not that guy
@@CoinChocholate Yeah and more then half of Khabib his opponents were record builders. Khabib also never moved up in weight hè rather killed himself to stay at lightweight so he could face strikers. Pereira on the other hand came into the ufc and beat top contender after top contender. And becaume double champ within his first 11 mma fights. So yeah… what’s your point? Khabib was good, but you cannot compare a weight bully with someone who became double champ faster then anyone before. If Khabib was that great he would have faced Usman back in the day or GSP at welterweight, but no Khabib rather be a weight bully and talk about legacy. @lumbruhjack8888 yeah, probably. But alex only needs one left hook 😅
Since November 2020.
Jones is 1-0
Pereira is 10-1
Islam is 8-0 with 1 questionable decision
I take into account only the title fights,Islam barely won his first title defence,2nd time had opponent on short notice, and 3rd was against a dude that had his peak a few years ago😂
Lmao thats an insane stat. Alex def #1 P4P.
It is insane that Jon Jones only fought 1 time in the last 4 years. We literally had 2 summer Olympic games in that meantime
Alex got ko'd bad and won hard fight against #8 ranked guy
@@marghooburrahman3051 only reason he lost was because he was weight drained and rushed in, he was dominating. He beat Izzy 3 times. Eventually if u fight someone 5 times you'll win one.
Pereira 100% has a better record than Khabib. Took Khabib 18 fights to fight anyone of note, then fought a few gatekeepers like old as shit Barboza, Raging Al, and Michael Johnson; Then fought a few striking only fighters in Gaethje, Poirier and Conor, then retired. He also conveniently retired right before he was set to fight the murderers row of grapplers that Islam took up the mantle against.
Hell, Islam is already VERY close to overtaking Khabib and has fought more well rounded competition.
Islam has already overtaken Khabib in my opinion. Khabibs resume is super overrated
Lmao khabib mauled everyone, Pereira beat mid fighters
Khabibs record is solid. Definitely not the greatest, but he did what he wanted with his career, and got out undefeated when he wanted. Smart man if you're thinking about life after fighting.

What about a good conversation about "Mount Rushmore"
Dana gave Bisping permission (during said oiling) to give Pereira the number one spot, but only until Jones beats a forty-two-year-old who hasn't won a fight since August 15, 2020.
_Make it make sense._
So if he says Jones is nr1 it's because of Dana. But if he says it's Pereira, then it's also because of Dana? That's some straight 12yo logic right there.

Ankalaev barely wrestles anyway. He's more of a striker at this point. I think because he's Dagestani people immediately make the assumption that he's an elite wrestler/grappler, but we don't see it enough to know. He was choked out by Paul Craig, which, even if a fluke, is not something I could picture elite grapplers like Khabib or Islam getting caught with. If Ankalaev decided to trade with Alex in the stand up, there's only one winner. Lets not forget that Pereira is also improving his grappling having worked with elite guys for a few years, including having Glover as his coach.
alex got taken down by izzy so what do you think that ankalaev cant take down alex..its too easy for ankalaev to beat alex...alex can beat ankalaev by knocking him up at standup....alex went with jan a close fight decision win and ankalaev is gonna beat alex but the ufc is not pushing him thats it they are afraid that they will lose alex as a champion thats the fact first alex has to beat ankalaev then we can talk
Finally someone who knows the facts, everybody acts like Ankaleav is a LHW Khabib but the man is a striker.
@@Frazer_98you’re completely delulu, if they wanted Alex to stay champ they wouldn’t even let him be that active🤡 Ankaleav isn’t a wrestler, and he said himself he wants to stand with Alex and outstrike him.
I checked Ankalaev's background and found out these things:
1. Ankalaev has 1 year of Greco-Roman wrestling experience (in University, so he was 18+ when he did that 1 year of Greco)
2. Ankalaev started training Combat Sambo in University. So he was 18+ when he did combat sambo, which is not pure grappling, but rather striking + grappling
3. He has only 31% takedown accuracy despite attempting very few amount of takedowns (I have estimated his takedown attempts to be around 10 in his 13 fights with approx. 142 minutes of octagon time; this is based on the fact that he attempts 1 takedown per 15 minutes). The % would be even lower if he didn't stat pad against Jan. Of course context matters, and it could be that Ankalaev was half heartedly attempting takedowns to create striking opportunities, so need to watch all of his fights to know the full story.
@@jasper7126 I mean to say that ufc is protecting Alex from wrestlers they are only offering him strikers...and ankalaev will stand or grapple what he said I don't know about that so I can't talk about it we will see

My 2 cents about P4P discussion, i guess a win over Kalil n8 someone with a not so great cartel shouldn't make him switch places with Islam for now, it just does not make a lot of sense, we need to see Islam vs Arman and Poatan vs Ankalaev to have a solidified argument on which is the best.
Is mighty mouse at heavy weight as fast as he is at fly/bantam weight? P4P talk definitely has issues

Pirera did dominate the whole game.
I do agree Jones would be the 1# if he was more active but he's not that much of a finisher lately, he has 7 decisions in his last 10 fights (since 2013), Jones brought to Decision OSP who just got finished in R1 by Span... he's the GOAT and a braniac but not that much of a killer 🤷♂

If you take a close look at most Jon Jones ' opponents, you will find out most of them were natural Middleweihgts fighting at LHW. The likes of Chael Sonnen who primarily fought at middleweight before challenging Jones at light heavyweight at UFC 159, Vitor Belfort who also had a significant career at middleweight before moving up to fight Jones at UFC 152 and Lyoto Machida who had fought at middleweight earlier in his career before moving up to light heavyweight, where he faced Jones at UFC 140. Alex on the other hand has been fighting Real LHWs, the likes of Jan Blachowicz who has a big stocky head, Jiri Prochazca, Jamal Hill, Khalil Rountree. That's why I think Alex Poatan is the real LHW goat.
You are so clueless it hurts.
Alex did beat Jan in a close fight so he’s been tested against a wrestler. It wasn’t a great win but he did pull it out.
Alex is number one…. You have to consider two weight classes in such a short period of time.
He didn’t do what u claim, he was placed and ppl are eating it up, he just got whooped by rank 8, could lose 2 any fighter
Dricus belongs on that list more than Jones does
Chama!... that's what I'm talking about, you start to realize now. If wrestling can win fights so much does striking but warriors is more relate in striking.
The year is 2052. Jon Jones has been heavyweight champion for over 29 years. He has 4 title defenses. Despite only having 4 matches in 29 years, Dana White declares that he’s still active. He’s just had some injuries and Dana is constantly arguing about how poorly The new artificially created (Al) pound for pound list is. He doesn’t understand how Jones isn’t ranked number 1.
Tom Aspinall retired in the year 2050 having been the interim champion for 26 years where he defended his title 71 times. But he never got his unification match with Jones.
Jones always said that Tom was a random nobody and he chose to face legends instead. Jones defended his title against Stipe, 55 year old Anderson Silva, 70 year old Bas Rutten and finally 72 year old Fedor to prove he’s greatest heavyweight of all time. Jones hasn’t had a title defense in 5 years but Dana claims he’s working on something big. Royce Gracie is heavily rumored.
After Aspinall’s retirement with 71 interim title defenses, Dana White was asked about Aspinall going into the hall of fame.
Dana said “we don’t owe this kid anything, least of all the hall of fame: the hall of fame is for undisputed champions, and that’s Jones. Maybe if we ever make an ”interim hall of fame”, Tom can join”.
Even if fans agree that Alex isn't as well rounded as Islam or Jones, the fact that he is so freaking active at this late stage in his fighting career is crazy. Yes, without a doubt Alex is P4P#1 at the moment, he truly earn it.
I don't think Ankalaev will be as much of a challenge as Khalil was. He isn't a pure striker but hes close, in my opinion a fight between Alex and Magomed is going to look a lot like the Jan fight did.
The real discussion about p4p should be between Alex and Ilia.
If I hear "hammer and the nail" one more time...
I'm Dana White and I approve this message...
Bisping thinks that if Jones beats 43 year old Stipe who has been out for four years, he's P4P#1. I think Bisping will echo literally anything Dana says.
Everyone needs to relax. Khabib's father died and his mother pleadid for him to retire, as he did. The fight game is a job, not peoples life. It is quite simple to understand. It is what it is. Pereira is undoubtedly without a shadow of a doubt the best fighter in UFC to pick up a pair of gloves. These clowns who think Jones would even tie his shoes are dreaming. Jones is hiding... Pereira is on a completely other stratosphere of skill and excellence.
He had 3 fights in 7 month . That’s crazy . 4 fights in 12 month would be more crazy . U can’t lie he’s the one everyone want to knock out u can’t just submit him and say I beat Alex
I think there should be a clear difference between P4P and GOAT.
JJ is one of the GOATS (if you ask the Mount Rushmore question)
Alex is currently P4P. JJ shouldn't be P4P tbh
Jones ducking Aspinal and cherry picking Miocic is the weakest move ever in UFC HW history.
People will argue that you have the best the “most active” and winning to be declared as p4p. They say Jon can’t possibly be p4p because he’s not active enough…. But then Alex is now more active then Islam and now they change they’re argument and argue against poatan. It’s a weird thing with these people.
I think you need to take into account Pereira's ground game. Does he need to fight a pure grappler? The man is amazing right now and continues to get better. Standing, nobody comes close to him.
I don’t like Jones, but I can’t deny how great of an mma fighter he is. But with how inactive he has been, I don’t think he deserves to be in the conversation personally
Jon Jones should be number 1 hes so brave faceing an old man that hasnt fought in 3 years. Hes facing the best guy in the division and hes never taken steroids.
Let him beat Ankalaev. Then we can talk. He ran from 185 after getting knocked unconscious. He's only fought strikers. He's great, but he isn't P4P.
Bro tbh Alex’s record clears Jon jones record in my book bro has achieved a lot with in the span of his ufc career crazy
Conor did win a round against khabib
Pound for Pound is completely ridiculous and means nothing at all. Its nothing more than a performance ranking so they should call it that.
Should be Poatan even though we have only seen him strike, he literally beats everyone with a KO who is on the list, ESPECIALLY Islam!
Pereira at HW is such an exciting prospect. If he beats Ankolaev, i think its a great move. No weight cut, gets to eat what he wants, more strength and conditioning, it would be fun to watch
Why do people keep labelling Ankalaev as a wrestler when not even he does that to himself? Maybe we should all take a look at his TD stats
He is 100% right about Jon jones. Period. End of discussion.
Alex Pereira is next level active, dominating. No khabib, Jones, will match that profile.
❤ Alex
He aint GOAT, not yet. But p4p- hell yeah. Active, fought champs/ex champs, fought on short notice, 90% of wins are KOs and TKOs
You're making it seem like Ankalaev is that good. Jan is better than him lol
Khabib and Jon would never take a fight on short notice let alone 2 in a 5 month span.
Pereira has had the same number of title fights in less than 11 months as Khabib had in two and a half years.
Islam still number #1 pound for pound. Beat #1 #2 #3 all ufc champion. 14 win streak. Pereira good too but i think he's still number 2
Legendary Alex poatan Pereira achieved so much both in Glory kickboxing and now in UFC within short period of time that lots of fighters can only dream About that type of achievements man
JJ has never fought anyone bigger or younger than him. He simply can't be the P4P #1.
Pereira would absolutely sleep anyone from that glamour division lol
Some people will go nuts if Rakic TKO Ankalaev
I will. Just because Ank fans are so annoying, acting like Ank is an all time great when all he does is beat cans.
Rakic stylistically is actually a nightmare match up for Ank. He’s massive for LHW, has good grappling and has some of the most powerful leg kicks in the division.
I don't know Bisping but it aint you. Pereira is my fav fighter - "aww friends" - but Jones and Aspinall beat him in mma all day long.
He will beat ankalaev and you guys u will say that ankaleav is not a proper wrestlers. Coping is real ,has surpassed so many fighters in a couple months legacy wise.
You can see mike is struggling to accept alex is the king . He always picks against him . He barely gave him the nod to win over khalilililili .
For sure Alex is the real top 1 p4p and the face o UFC now. He´ll knock out Ankalaev easily, his wresling is enough to stop some takedowns and he´ll have enough time to do the job standing on the first or second round, mark my words.
jon jones the cheating steroid king should never be mentioned in p4p and g.o.a.t. Everyone talks crap about boxing, but what happens in boxing if you are caught cheating? If you win and get caught cheating. The fight is a no contest.
Wait what? So if Dana decides to dig up someone like Andy Hug and let Jon fight him, would that make a difference? With all due respect for Stipe, and I would love to be wrong, fighting a seasoned legend that comes out of retirement shouldn’t make a difference in my honest, uneducated and unsolicited opinion. If he’d fight Tom and manage to win? Different story! Furthermore, going up or down a weight class shouldn’t the most important argument either. Someone the size of Overeem, not that he’s in the discussion, can only fight in one weight class. The role of the UFC, and fanboy Dana White in particular, plays a vital role in this as well. As long as Tom Aspinall is denied a fight with Jon Jones he won’t stand a chance to prove his worth in the P4P comparison. And if Jones ‘retires without retiring’ after the Stipe fight, how long do you think it will take until Dana strips him of his title? Having said all that, what’s the P4P comparison really worth? It’s very subjective to say the very least….
I can’t say he’s P4P. I’d bet my life savings, that if Taiwanchai was 205lbs, he’d likely murder Alex (yes, im aware that saenchai doesn’t fight in the UFC) That said, I also bet, if Islam was 205 as well as them, he’d destroy Tai. Therefore, even though I don’t believe Jon Jones is what he once was, in fact he kinda looked sloppy af on the feet against Gane….as long as Jon doesn’t lose, and is still active, he’s the P4P. You can’t argue it successfully.
Izzy should have kept his mouth shut , he unleashed Pandora's box talking about poatan
Why is makhachev even in the list???? He has only defended his belt a couple times and hasnt done anything outsids his weight apart from nearly losing to volk a whole weight class lower...... Islam shouldnt even be considered. Pereira and jones and possibly holloway if he beats topuria are the obvious choices here.
This pound for pound talk is complete nonsense, I just don’t get it. Appreciate every champ in their own devision. And Ankaleav is NOT a wrestler but a striker, wake up everybody, he’s not bringing anything new.
Alex is now the Goat, no matter what happens from here on out
Idk why but I feel like Jon Jones is the true p4p fighter in the world.
As much I like Alex Pereira he doesn't have the UFC record to be the UFC pound for pound. Far from it. Yes he's got a huge accomplishment but it's not even close to Islam who only lost once like 8 years ago. Since then he's beaten every guy worth beating in the most dominating division.
Pereira fight every 3 months, Islam every 6 months John jones every 2 years 😂
How is Jon Jones not the pound-for-pound now, but if he beats a 40 plus year old has been great, he is? Such a bad president if you don't have to fight the current best fighters you can just fight old 40 year olds, why not 50 year olds? Jon Jones needs to call out Tim Sylvia for the current pound for pound number one.
People want to rightfully talk crap about Jon Jones decision, but then reward him? That just sets the president that if you want to be the best, avoid the best fighters in the world and fight has beens instead
Jon fought the number 1 contender 16 times already, cry about it, stipe is for legacy, title wins matter
how is illia above Dricus whilst DDP has already have tittle defences
Need to be fighting in multiple weight classes these days to be a p4p #1. Islam and khabib arent in the mix for this reason. Jones hasnt fought amyone of merit in heavy weight division. Alex is clear current p4p.
I wish we could see Jon fight Alex but that's never happening
If Pereira went heavyweight, I don't think he would be a match for Aspinall's strength if/when it goes to the ground. If that is true, then is he really #4#?
Dana White wont like it, and will make you kicked out of the ufc in the commentary
John Jones got caught cheating so he should not be in the discussion.
Alex Pereira beat Jan Blachowicz. It was not pretty but hard - fought. He accomplished what Israel Adesanya could not. Ankalaev drew against Jan. Yes, MMA Mathematics but King Chael says mma math works. Jon Jones is the GOAT, so Alex Pereira and Jon Jones need to fight at heavyweight... That's it. The Count giving us the cold facts.
Khabib lost a round against Conor and the judges gave justin gaethji a round against him
P4P is BS ....because just like you cannot compare a sedan with a sports car or a SUV similarly how can compare fighters across different weight categories.
You can have an argument over who is the P4P, but you can never include jon jones. Maybe for greatest LHW ever but not P4P, that should be potan or aspinall.
When Jon would beat stipe
Tf stipe is forty years of age
Even older and coming from a bad bad beating from Ngannou
Tom would finish both on same night in the first round probably
Even Alex would have a good chance against both
Look at Jones against Smith, Gustafsson 1,Reyes loss,Santos
Tom and even Alex could knockout Jon cold
khabib only fought strikers, beating Mcgregor, poirier and geathje is not that impressive when oliveira did the same (replace mcgregor with chandler)
