Hong Kong 1963 Victoria Harbour

Taken from a deck of HMS Hermes, youngsters are seen diving for coins thrown for them by crew members, while a nearby sampan keeps an eye on proceedings.
On the flight deck two Wessex helicopters from 814 Squadron are seen, while the squadrons engineers seem to be taking a break.
There is also a good shot of the cruiser HMS Tiger, who was decommissioned in 1978.
This rare footage shot by my father who was at the time serving on HMS Hermes, is of a time long gone but thanks to his film will not be forgotten.

Thanks for sharing. I don’t think there are sampans like these in the harbor anymore.
