I found 2 Cherokee XJ's locally and bought them as a package deal. This video follows the process of getting the green 4 door road worthy as a winter vehicle and then prepping it for a hopeful sale once spring ended to help fund the restoration of the 2 door that came with it.

Great video. I needed to see it to work on my 99 Blue Patriot Pearl 2.5 TD Cherokee. Greetings from Argentina!

If you see this.. you may try covering that spot on your seat with baking soda. Work some in then cover it with baking soda... It may draw out the grease over night.
    Then vacuum...

Thanks. I'll give that a try when I clean it up in spring. My plan is to get a Bissel spot extractor vacuum as well.

Nice video man. At some point I want to get a 4-Door 5-Speed 2.5 Turbo Diesel XJ. Is one of my dream cars, keep up with the good job.

Thanks. I'm glad you liked the video. I'm always on the hunt for a 5 speed myself. I'm partial to the 4.0L's myself, although a turbo diesel could be fun.

It’s almost always a broken wire in the door boot, not inside the door it’s self. But, sometimes it is a broken solder inside the switch panel itself.

I reheated the solder on the old switch controller allowing it to flow onto the pins with no luck sadly.

I have the same problems with my locks I didn’t know the passenger side controls all the locks I will get a new switch and see if that works I thought I needed new actuators on all 4 doors

Supposedly also the wires on the doors chaff and then short circuit because the wires are not long enough. I will soon be inspecting my wires as I also have a auto lock issue.

The door locks and keyless entry clicker, on my 98 Jeep Cherokee stopped working. After watching your video I went to EBAY Motors and got a cheap chismo passenger door lock, window switch for $20. Now everything works. Thanks for the info.

Once the control panel is removed solder all the old soldered spots and your control panel is like new,

I tried that off camera and it didn't work. I agree with you as it works most of the time.

Nice video there 6PercentRecycled. At some point, probably in a year or so, I want to track down a 2-Door 5-Speed XJ. I like their compact size and the longer doors of of the 2-Door version means I'm not looking at door pillar when looking left.

Those stains on the carpet look like rust stains coming up from underneath in the footwells 😄

I'm in Michigan and rust never sleeps in the rust belt.

I don't think he is that concerned about the small issues. It's for the new owner to worry about. More importantly all new XJ buyers should know about rust. It's the biggest thing. Especially around the front window.

The rusted passenger seat bolts suggest the carpet is getting wet from a bad windshield seal or the seal wearing out in the blower motor of the AC assembly. The floorpans under the carpet might be really really rusty.

@@BFPolarBear I had the windshield replaced when I got the Cherokee as it was cracked. It was leaking into the roof line along with the leaking sunroof giving me a double wammy of leaks. I sealed the roof line at the windshield and fixed the sunroof. This Cherokee has mild rust by Michigan standards. The floors would need to be patched in some areas, but those areas are minimal compared to most of the Cherokees of this age and price range. The salt they put down each year to fight the snow destroys vehicles here. If you drive anything in the winter, it's going to rust in my area.

@@6percentrecycled It's hard to find every leak. If you are going to keep it for yourself, it might be wise to pull up the carpet and sand/por15. If you're flipping it, touching up the bottoms of the doors and the rockers might increase interest. Hopefully, you net a nice profit.

It has some normal Michigan rust so I'm not sure Cally would like it or not.
