I have a Passat GTE, and it has a 1.4 TSI, but pulls and fells (and sounds because of fake noise) nothing like one. Its the “GTE Advance” so has just as much if not more spec too it too compared to this one. Handles like its on rails too, perfect car.

I had the VW CC 2.0 TSI so a generation older than this Passat but the front axle hop when it lost traction was so annoying. This put me off FWD cars of similar power. As much as I wanted an Arteon I didn't want the weight and complexity of 4wd so bought a G30 530i which although isn't quite as spacious it is a more sophisticated car.

Excellent reviews, maybe get a decibelmeter for the interior sound levels on the motorway?

I know boot space and space in general would be compromised but it would he interesting to see how this compares to an arteon

Do you get the 206tsi (206 kilowatt) Passat in the UK? Same engine as the Golf R I believe.
I’d be interested to hear your feedback on the biturbo diesel, they go very well too.

The 272 passat is the 206tsi in other countries. Would love to drive the bitdi as well

@@ParagonCarsLondon I’m looking around for a new family bus, and tested a bitdi Alltrack last weekend (I want to try a C7 A6 Allroad and F series X3 30d next) and it really impressed me. Good throttle response and punch for a diesel I thought. Lovely car in general, the seats are ace.
The diesels we have here in NZ are mainly in utes and they’re nowhere near as refined or punchy, which you’d kinda expect, so the VW was a pleasant surprise.
Thanks for your reviews by the way, they’re always great!
