Recovering an IBM Aptiva Desktop PC from 1998

Let's take a close look at this memorable home computer from the late 1990s.
In this video I demonstrate an IBM Aptiva Desktop PC from 1998. Model E96 Machine 2138. I try to perform a software recovery using an official Aptiva recovery disc.

i upgraded my Ibm aptiva whit a pci card a geforce 2 mmx 200 card and some sdram upgrade to. love the socket 2 on the cpu to is it a mmx intel pentium 2 a 333mhz ore was it 233 . loved that pc hade nice memory whit it. Thank you for the great video.

I had the same system and found that using a voodoo 2 over a voodoo 3 fixed the issues with games detecting the rage as primary since the voodoo 2 is just a 3d card and the rage is treated as a 2d card. I had several games that would not utilize the voodoo 3 even after much tweaking.

I have this computer and it was one centimeter away from being my 90s end-game all in one since I don't need much power. I cannot get it to work properly with a voodoo 1 + voodoo 3 configuration. It will happily boot a voodoo 1 game but when I exit 3d mode, the computer shits itself. I believe this is due to the integrated gpu since it works fine if voodoo 3 is not installed. I have not figured out how to disable the integrated gpu. (I don't think you can, can you?)

I'm currently restoring mine, upgrading from 300 to 333 mhz (the maximum this motherboard can handle) as well as installing a Voodoo 3 3000 PCI.
Can i ask where you found the recovery discs?

ATI 3D Rage Pro is not available. You can emulate Pentium II 333, Voodoo 3 and Sound Blaster 16.
