Am i the only one who thinks that the greatest novelty apple have introduced thus far is Math Notes with the ability to write things by hand and it makes the calculations by itself?. For me it is the right direction to go. Like, there must be some studies on this topic to see how much it can reduce deforestation if expanded as a technology, as well as other aspects. Samsung and competition should introduce it ASAP.

you need to change the language to english us in general -> language & region -> preferred languages -> English (US). As well as changing siri language to English US
im from nz and had the same issue as you. Next Month we should be able to set it back to our version of English when they release more language support.

I’ve been thinking of getting a tablet between the iPad and the samsung 10 ultra after watching this video. I’m going with the Samsung because Apple looks super boring compared to tab 10 ultra which can do way more than just basic commands.
The new photo editing feature is a backward upgrade, it works less efficient than the old one, more harder to use, and less flexible on font colour and custom size changing or selecting.
What the heck, my iPad 8th Generation suddenly had True Tone after I updated to 18.1. 💀 Last time I checked only the iPad 9th Generation and newer had True Tone.
Smart reply doesn't work for me in the mail app for some reason. Also can't even use the create a memory feature as Apple says "Creation Unavailable More photos and videos need to process to create a Memory. Keep this iPhone connected to power until photos and videos finish processing." What a terrible release by Apple.

My iPad Pro is the last of those without an M-chip. I see there’s more features in each release that my iPad can’t do and I get a little envious but then I watch a video like this and see that I wouldn’t use any of the new features even if I had them so my old iPad is good for another year 🎉 The fact that the photo editing stuff is part of Apple Intelligence is just an example of them artificially gating something to drive device sales. There’s many apps in the app store that do this already (some better than others obviously) but you don’t need an up to date iPhone or iPad to use them
I removed the laces from my shoes as well, and the AC from my car. Oh, and I bought a faraday cage for my router. All really sensible things to ensure you don’t get the best use out of everything you have.
Canadians: in “Apple Intelligence & Siri” settings, Language must be set to English (United States) before your iPad can be put on the Apple Intelligence waitlist.
By the time Apple officially launch Apple intelligence, there will be something else on the market. Nothing innovative from Apple except more Ram, a slightly better processor and a waiting list for Ai?
Honestly apple intelligence is a huge disappointment. I’d rather just use gpt or the even better Claude when I need it instead of having my battery eaten alive by this garbage. It’s not even using the NPU for most of this.

for me it sucks because you cant have it turned off by default, it only works for basic calculations, and it misreads everything i write

In Australia with ipad pro m4, ios 18.1 and I changed language to english US and still no apple intelligence for me, no wait list option.
you need to change the language to english us in general -> language & region -> preferred languages -> English (US). As well as changing siri language to English US

You have to join waitlist, eventually you’ll get it and it will show preparing, then once done you still have to turn it on.

Unfortunately your iPad doesn’t support apple intelligence, the only iPads that support it are ones with M1 and above

It will be available eventually. They will have european languages in Siri starting early next year.
