This is my first time watching one of your videos and I can already see what's so special about you: it's the authenticity. There's no pretense about you, and I can see why people love that, because I love that. On the technical side, the story also flows nicely, with crisp editing. But really, it's the picture of your beautiful family that endures. You have a new subscriber. All the best to you.
Happy to see you again had a great time in the US with your family and friends, and that you were adjusting well once back home in Japan. Jet lag is such an interesting phase you have to endure 😁 We were travelling ourselves! This time it was the US actually - NYC, to be more precise. It was amazing!
Jatlag and school… still routine will help overcome jetlag. Also love the pool or fountain the kids played in! I just have always been so drawn to water you’re basically allowed to play in/with/just casually around walk in (good too) ever since I can remember and still love it. Only thing holding me back would be if I’m too cold, or feeling a little unwell, or just simply sadly not dressed for waterfun (that’s an unfortunate reality sometimes too isn’t it?) Uncle looks like he had a fun birthday. Happy 40 🎉
Right now the weather where I live can't make up it's mind. It's freezing at night sometimes, then we're hit with hot sunny days, or chilly rainy days. 😊
I take for granted that I can buy American things at our Commissary while we’re living here in Japan. Glad you all made it back safely and hope you’re settled back in to your routines! 🤗
When I was in Saitama participating in an exchange program, I experienced my first typhoon. It was a blessing in disguise. Japan in July and August was just brutal, but once the typhoon came through, the weather dried up quite a bit and made it a bit more manageable!
I wish your videos are longer like 25 min, you guys are awesome I always can't wait for Fri , missed you guys I've watched the old ones like sushi or daiso , thank you congrats on your new place..still pizza still there my dream visit Japan one day and my place okinawa my mom just died she's from there..she was 84..bless her... 🙏, thank
I totally can relate. I came from Switzerland and the company that I worked for relocated me to Tokyo and I only got 3 weeks to prepared. I remember when I got to Tokyo I thought I would never last a year (esp with my zero Nihongo skill except Arigatou). But Japan really grows in me...and 9 years later I'm still here in Tokyo and even bought two houses !
@LIJ check out Anton in Japan - he renovates Akiya (abandoned houses) and some of them look AMAZING even before he starts. My husband and I are looking at buying one when we move to japan. Might be a great option for your beautiful family ❤
Oh my. I am not sure how long it has been since the last time I watched a vlog by you guys, but I am sure it has been long enough for you to travel back to the US and come back! I am also noticing that you have moved into a new place? I hope you are enjoying it :) .. Everyone looks a bit older ... especially Joshua. Life has been difficult for me as my mother has been diagnosed with cancer for the 2nd time. It is not promising and the chance of survival is very little. We've been busy with that, hospitalisations, trips to ER and all the complications that come with it. My mom was very unlucky because her body is weak as she is well in her late 60s. Nothing feels as hopeless as watching her in pain [because her morphine isn't enough to do anything] and unable to do anything. I feel it is too much to ask but it would be generous if you would kindly keep her in your prayers. God bless.
While the time difference isn't quite the same , it's always an adjustment when I fly from Germany back to the US and vice versa honestly. I have lived in the US for so long that I feel like I don't quite fit in, in Germany any more. Happy Birthday to Paul! Your videos are such a blessing and make my Friday mornings. Thank you for all you do.
Wow, that lotion bottle mess! I wouldn't have thought about plastic bags! I had a shampoo bottle spill out on a long trip once. Luckily, it was soap and everything only had to be rinsed! 😂
I suggest to tape the lid of the lotion bottle (I use duct tape or transpore) and fill the container, so the little air left can't expand as much. Works for me. The plastic bag helps also.
Reverse reverse culture shock, hahaha! It’s always a good alert for your brain when you see things in the other country that you had forgotten about. One of my favorite things to bring back besides deodorant was pepperoni slices. So hard to find in Japan! Glad you survived the typhoon. It’s always hit and miss with the storms.
@@peko7446 I never had any issues taking pepperoni into Japan. It is sliced, packaged, and cooked. I don’t know about the legal parameters. When I read through the information, I understood that this style of pepperoni was OK. I usually get the five or 6 ounce sliced pepperoni pillow wrap packages. I think what they get concerned about is the unwrapped uncut long salami or jerky or pepperoni.
How does mamachan keep up with feeding 6 family members? I only have my husband and I, and I struggle for every meal! I try to do only home cooked but it’s hard to get chores done and cook AND try to get some video editing on the side!!

We love our whirley popper. We have had ours for over 15 years.

Love the cinnamon rolls ! Also mama if you have a recipe for pickles that would be awesome! I often like eating pickles with steamed rice
Awesome guys! Have a great weekend!

How much family does Ruth have living there in Japan? What a blessing to have her family near.
A brother (and his family), a sister (and her family), an uncle (and his family) as well as a cousin (and his family)!

You've been here about as long as us! Any tips on buying homes here?
@@LIJ So easy. My company helped me to get connected with a great realtor. And I even managed to get a loan from the bank.

家のお手伝いする子どもたちで立派ですね!
同じ神奈川県人ですが、私が住む三浦半島以外雨で大変でしたね。😢
I'm from Kanagawa prefecture, but the rain was terrible everywhere except for the Miura Peninsula where I live.
It was bad. Even though it's quite hot right now, I'm glad all the rain stopped.
The kids are likr "How come the typhoon couldn't cancel school altogether so we could catch up on sleep?"
For real, right?

Mmmm pepperoni... :)
I thought you can't bring any meat products in Japan. Been wanting to bring jerky or salami for my friend there.

Great video! Did the kids miss any school while they were gone? Is Summer vacation in Japan as long as it is in the US?
We missed a couple of weeks before summer break started in Japan. It's only 5 weeks long in Japan.

Welcome! We like so many others moved here because of work :) We work in a church called Paz Church.

It is more natural to write "越る" in the video title as "越える" in Japanese.
