"Enlightening and scary." Basically a summary of Kurzgesagt. They indeed tend to be really serious when talking about nuclear stuff. If you want something less... Close to home, there are some nice ones like "What happens if the moon crashes into earth" or "Vacuum decay".
This is the actual video I use whenever someone I know (friends/relatives/acquaintances) start tossing around the idea that we should "nuke" countries/people who "wrong" us (the US, the West, whatever). This usually sucks the zeal out of them. Often don't even get a reply, but I do notice they stop taking nuclear weapon use so casually.
@@fabriziobiancucci7702 I feel like your missing the fact that the alternative was invasion, and that would have killed way more people. It's not a pleasant thing, but they had good reasons
@@queen-lilyorjiako268 No, that is just the excuse the US invented to justify it. They can win the war without destroying thousands of innocent lives. They could launch those bombs in military areas, there were a lot of them located in inhabitate zones; or they could warn the population, something that didn't happen at least for the first one, and this is a war crime. There is no justification for such an act. It would have been if the US would try all these possibilities before doing it. But they didn't. It was just a one-sided massacre and justify it means that all those people die in vain. Based on this logic than Putin is justify to launch nukes on Ukraine since in this way Russian soldiers wouldn't die
The fact that these things still exist is just sad. Our species needs to learn to work together, stop all the stupid wars...we are capable of so much without ruining the world. Sadly I do not see that happening.
So, if you survive the initial blast but are still within the radiation dome - it's actually best if you can an hero yourself before melting from the inside out. Got it. I remember vividly watching the nuclear bomb scene from terminator 2 when Sara Conner is screaming at her younger self. Then the bomb goes off and everything is just gone. It was very upsetting to me as an 8 year old. My dad tried so hard to reassure me that yes maybe the bombs exist, but no they won’t ever happen. As an adult I really wish I could believe that.

Fun fact: this is just an average atomic bomb. A Tsar bomb could create a fireball three times hotter then the Sun's core, burn everything in a radius of 50 km at least and generate a shockwave and a series a sismic waves so powerful that they travel around the Earth multiple times
funnier thought - modern warheads contain up to a hundred devices each, that spread upon re-entry of the atmosphere to bypass the counter-measures and also - to cover more ground, so each individual explosion would be smaller, but there would be about 10-15 of them overlapping each other from different sides. and now we think for a sec about WHO wields those nowdays... I don't like it here, tbh.
You don't need a calculator to understand kilometers, and you don't need to convert for your audience either... it distracts you from your actual task of paying attention to the video. Maybe you should try it too... you don't need to be precise to get a good understanding... you can just subtract 1/3 from kilometer value (or divide by 3 and times 2) and you have a pretty good estimate. That means 100km turns into 66 miles (62 is the precise value, but its close enough - the error is only 6%). 60 turns into 40... 30 into 20... 10 into 7 and so on. A quicker, more rough estimate you can get by doing "take half and generously round up"... so without much thinking, i know that 860 km is about 500 miles, since half is 430, and rounding up a bit to 500 (precise value is 537). This only works with distances though... areas like square kilometers or square miles are different, but that is much less often needed anyway.

honestly I hate recation channels because it takes just 3 hours to record and edit these so they take no effort at all and they leech of other content creators it takes Kurzgesagt something crazy like 1200 hours just to edit record voices get all the information to make the video as accurate as possible while this takes 3 hours maybe 5 make some real content
Thank you for that perspective. Honestly I've seen this video twenty times and was nice to see what another living, human being thought about it as well. Imagine a society that didn't care about others thought or opinions were. Kinda like an echo.... Echo..... Echo..... Chamber. Happy holidays!

Man I am so glad that you're getting into this side of infotainment. It's good stuff!
Yeah, these are fun. They're put together so neatly!

this guy gets me, no intro, no bs, just gets into it right a way! I like that
😃🙌🏿
You like it, I love it!
I love your editing style, keep it up man
Awesome! Thanks!!
Very informative, and terrifying. Great reaction.
I still can’t believe we let TWO of these things off the chain😬
And it's even more unbelievable that there are a lot of people that justify that act

I do remember I once saw a headline that says "The U.S. Should Show It Can Win a Nuclear War." It's time to leave earth.
is this your first time reacting too this channel?? omg i need more of these. there’s endless content from Kurzgesagt!
2nd video so far

WE DO need nukes , as a deterrent ,dya really think others will be honest that they also got no weaponry ? thats like trusting CNN for real news lol

ICBM. Only need 30 menit to any part of earth
I'd suggest watching their video "optimistic Nihilism"
😳 well hopefully I'm not around if that ever happens, not that it'd matter I guess lol

Well, US showed us what happen
Why do they need to ask what if since it's already happened
Because an average atomic bomb today is far different of the two that they launched on Japan. Also our cities are also different
Our cities are made of concrete instead of wood, but modern nuclear devices do 400 KT instead of 20
The japanese proly does have a nuclear protocol

Dude, we know what kilometers are...it is YOU who don't. You should learn the metric system. The World uses it. Not your hamburger units
