I realize this is a couple years old but I thought I'd chime in. Excellent video! As for Paul's Restaurant. You can try it again but it doesn't get any better. We spend a lot of time in the area and we always saw Paul's being crowded so we assumed it was good. We tried it and were very underwhelmed. We always give places a 2nd chance since we could have caught them on a bad day the first time. 2nd time was no better food wise and we also had a huge roach or palmetto big crawl across our table. So we faced the fact that Paul's sucks. Now Peter's breakfast restaurant on the other hand is great. Thanks for taking us with you on your travels!
I love the looks Dawn gets when she taste something she isn't a fan of!
Absolutely hilarious. It's like she tries to like it but cant do it.
@@Girard-it2wt my grandma was like that. If she didn't like it there was no hiding it. Kinda made me nervous to give her something I cooked lol
Her face said exactly what I was thinking it would taste like! Looked gross.
I can remember watching the outdoor drama there in Cherokee called “Unto these Hills” when I was a kid. I’d love to see it again now as an adult❤️
My most favorite side of the smokies. So relaxing.Thank you.
I loved Cherokee back in the 70s and early 80s it looks so different now. Thanks for being back some wonderful memories for me. Lots of love 🌹
I loved it back in the 70s and 80s to, it is so commercialized now it doesn't even look like the same place,
I wish it could be like it use to be and I also wish Ghost town in the sky was still in Maggie Valley but I guess I'm stuck in the 70s and 80 s era time changes everything
We went to Cherokee last year and was so heartbroken how things had changed from when I was a youth. We went to the Pizza Hut and was very disappointed 😔
It wasn’t clean! We did go to the outdoor drama and saw Unto these Hills. It brought back many memories of go there as a child. I don’t know if we will go back, though unless things change.
Sadly, much like Maggie Valley, it's glory days are gone.
My family and I drove up from Florida and camped in Cherokee 7/31-8/3. We fell in love with the area and are now planning a move to NC in the next year. We spent an afternoon right there at Oconaluftee Park, relaxing on a bench while the kids played in the stream. Another day we drove out to Fontana lake for kayaking. So much fun.
My dad was born in banner elk NC and we would go to Cherokee, loved it , hope y'all try to go to grandfather mountain soon. God blessed north Carolina and Tennessee with his love, it's the most beautiful places on earth !
😂😂😂 Dawn is cracking me up!!! The faces she makes when she doesn’t like the food!!!
I think this is awesome it gives people a chance to see the mountains that's never been here and people that is not able to get out that is elderly I live in Melbourne and I enjoying my mountains all the time
I live in Marysville
thank you North Carolina for not only being beautiful but smart.
Cray that it's been almost 15 years since I visited Cherokee. Very nice place
I have a great idea! I heard you talking about when you were little, all the things you did in Cherokee. Why don't you have your Mom dig out some old photos of little William in Cherokee and put them in the video as stills??
William in Cherokee = Billy the Kid
Oh I remember getting pictures with the chief and that old bridge!!! Loved it!!
I was in Cherokee once with my folks. We were at a fast dood restaurant.and
my dad is a veteran and he wears his Midway hat. A little boy that must have been around four or five came over and said thank you to my dad in Cherokee. We were very impressed and then before we left he came back over and said a Cherokee Blessing. He was so cute! We will never forget that experience. Such nice people there in Cherokee. I saw rabbit on the menu and I want you to know my mom made the best fried rabbit ever! Yes, I also had a pet rabbit named Sam. Stay well!
Thank you for sharing your memories Dale
yankeeinthesouth you’re welcome. Sometimes I go overboard but try and sum it up😂
Great memory Dale!
Mr. Mountain Man thank you Mr MM, yes it is.
Thanks for taking us on the trip to Cherokee with you!!
Great video as always Will and Dawn! Cherokee is a fun place to visit. BTW, I too have been having trouble with take out orders being incorrect.
I miss North Carolina. Was stationed at Camp LeJeune for 4 years and every weekend we ventured out to learn the state. BEAUTIFUL
Hi dawn, have fun you will have great time, enjoy my state its fasinating, thank you for including me on trip!!!!!
I love Dawn and her taste tests. She tries to cover up a bad taste but her face tells the story!
Will I remenber the Trading Post and walking on the old bridge..good memories . Thanks for sharing.
Thank y'all for your honesty. I agree right now it's hard to get good service , probably not even their regular employees. 👍👍👍
I always feel disappointed about a bad meal while eating out. Thanks again for your videos, love you guys .
I also have many fond memories of Cherokee, NC from my childhood.
Went to Cberokee when i was 6 or 7,has in all things it has changed.Never can get back the memories of the 60;s there or in Gatlinburg
Enjoyed the Cherokee awesomeness ty for sharing the sledgehammered that like button stay safe awesome and blessed
I spent a lot of time there when I was growing up too! I used to love the tom-tom drums. I think I got one every time we went there. The bridge was fun too. Now that I have my own kids, both of them have ridden the coin donkey/burro ride (with the cactus) that was outside the Mill there...the same ride I rode as a kid! I'm glad I can still share some of my childhood memories with them.
You are blessed to get to see the elk! Last week, in our way home, all we saw were turkeys in the park! It looked very quiet in Cherokee last week too! It is usually bustling with tourists! 😊👍
Welcome to my neck of the woods! God's Country! :)
Excellent video on North Carolina
I love watching you guys.
Love this area. Clearly you do as well. We were there for July 4th and had a great time. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully we will run into you guys on an upcoming adventure!
Oh thank you for this video it brings back so many childhood memories I also used to take pictures with the chief I remember the shooting gallery those were the days
Love ❤️ your videos so much that’s mostly what I watch anymore. I’m learning so much from your shows. Love ❤️ from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thanks Donna
Cherokee used to be a good place to come to. We always had a good time. Haven't been there in a while. I hope it gets through this crazy so called pandemic.
Actually we enjoy going to Pauls each year that we visit. I love the fry bread. I get the fish basket. Yum. Hope you enjoy it next time.
Dawn's face said everything I needed to know about the food. LOL
Another great video from you both. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures! Keep them coming!
Ok, will needs that spinning belt buckle on whilst he rides that mechanical bull!!! 🤣 love yall💕
Living in Georgia we travel through Cherokee coming to and from the burg. I have lots of memories there as a child too. I think we will pass on Paul’s since there is so much better waiting on us on the other side of the mountain.
Great Video! Very informative and you all covered a lot interesting areas for sure! I was just there in Cherokee a couple of weeks ago shooting videos on the Judaculla Rock and awesome vintage signs of Cherokee, NC!
Rather see Gatlinburg, enjoy what u do, lived up there 8 and half years you have the best videos , thanks for sharing, thank u.
Glad to see you in Cherokee. We love going there but we are staying home this year. Hope to go again soon. Thanks for all your wonderful videos.
Thanks for the heads up on Paul's. My wife will take back anything if it's not right. Drives me crazy.
Thanks for the video. Consider making this loop...Bryson City, to Robbinsville, to Tellico Plains, to Maryville to Cades Cove. Between Robbinsville to Tellico Plains via Cherohala Parkway is a nice Bald River Falls waterfall. It is about 5 miles off the Cherohalla Parkway, but waterfall can be seen from the road. Plus the Cherohala Parkway is beautiful.
I remember back in the day when Cherokee was very busy. I would have been very disappointed in Dawn's meal. Dry fried chicken is very disappointing.
Will and Dawn, absolutely beautiful scenery! Your food looked good! I've had indian tacos and ready like them. Thank you for taking me along with you! Really enjoyed your video.
The Indian Chief you’re talking about is Ernest Lambert, he was there last October and we looked for him there two weeks ago. I’m guessing he’s not there due to Covid. We have pictures of him with all of our children and grandchildren I’ve the past 27 years
I have such fond memories of Cherokee as a child. We would always go there every year. There was so much to do as a family. Now it's like everything is focused on the casino. The buildings and things to do are dilapidated or gone. We were there in June and most of the restaurants were pick up Drive through or delivery. We were very disappointed. I took my grandson for his first trip there. And I'm not sure if we will be going back. I think with the bring in the casino it has taken away what once was a great family fun place to vacation.
Many years ago we use to camp in that area. I been wanting to do a trip to stay in that area and check everything out.
I love the bee balm flower ❤️
I like to go up to Cherokee when we visit Tennessee and I am really glad you guys do decide when you don't have a very positive review that you will go back again and try again. Sometimes things happen and people aren't on top of their game and hopefully, it will be better next time.
It would be neat if you did the riding/horse stables, and what the differences are.
Well have to look into that
I had a blast in Cherokee. The casino is awesome, they now have my kids college fund, my house and car. I did manage to leave in some flip flops and a tee shirt.
Thank you for your review. Love them all
We just spent the Weekend in Dillsboro NC. And was in Cherokee a little bit. Love that area.
Enjoyed the trip thanks for sharing the music was awesome
Keep up the good work .People need this right now with all the things going on out there
Be safe keep that camera rolling
That's a rap
We go there every time we are pigeon forge gatlinburg never ate there. Love to see you do a video on the Indian homestead.
I crossed that bridge many many times!!!
Did you play tic tac toe with the chicken? He beat us every time 😂
No we never played tic tac toe with the chicken its sounds fun
We ate at Sassy Sunflower cafe in Oct great place to eat, thanks for all the great places until I can get there in three weeks
We were just there a couple of weeks ago and you've made me want to go back
When we went 2 Cherokee 2 weeks ago we went 2 Peter pancakes that was yummy give it a try have a wonderful weekend be safe out there guys enjoy yourselves and your Vegas trip
Omg Dawn's face when she tasted the indian taco made me laugh!
It is true I ate at my favorite place in may and, it wasn’t the same. Remember these places just reopened and, lost most of their staff etc. we went back a couple weeks later and, it was delicious.
You know Will an Dawn when I was little this was back in the 1950s the older kid’s at school use tell us not to let the Indians see us cause they would scalp us so like kid’s we believed them. So the use to come through our property and use to hide figuring they were going to scalp me. My mom and dad use to take all 6 of to Indian pow Wows was a great experience. And my folks use to feed Mr. Nippy’s horses an give him a meal every once in a while. So us kids had a great time learning about Indians. Thanks 🙏 very much for this video. Love ❤️ from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
🥘Thanks for sharing this video with everyone, looked like your meal was not very good. 🥘 Cherokee has changed a great deal over the years, and not for the better. 🥘 Hopefully one day they can bounce back to where it use to be. 🥘 Have a good night, God bless and take care. 🥘 Love Mrs. Dell 🥘
Hi guys. Don't know if anyone mentioned the music at the intro, l love it. What CD is it.... thanks for sharing NC
Did you know that people ( not Cherokee)had rented the stores since right after world war two, but once the casino started making money, the tribal council stopped leasing the land to non Cherokee people, so people who had been there for forty to fifty years were asked to leave (they didn't renew leases.)I understand the tribe not wanting outsiders (not Cherokee) making money that they could make, but I still think after forty or fifty years of leasing they would be considered part Cherokee. But my family never walked the trail of tears either. But it was still sad to see shop renters leave who I had seen for years, who's children and grandchildren had run these business.
Lot of people up there. Good to see.
Most restaurants are limited staff right now. I always check my food before I leave anywhere.
I can't tell if Dawn is surprised. Confused or ticked off when she eats. Makes me laugh. Bless her heart.
I love y’all guys 🇺🇸 enjoy ur videos
Love your videos and love cherokee! I always look your RUclips channel up and rewatch your videos before we go on vacation to the mountains because y’all give us lots of ideas of places to visit. I didn’t even know about Mingus mill before I saw it on one of your videos. We went there and loved it. Also, Your review of Paul’s is pretty accurate. We had lunch at Paul’s restaurant before and the food was not good at all and staff was rude. This was before Covid.
Have a wonderful time in Vegas!
Thanks Jenny
I remember buying real switchblade knives at some of the gift shops in Cherokee about 25 years ago. They sold them right out in the open.
Will Dawn thanks you are so right nothing can be explained with how the world is
God Bless All
PaK
Hey y’all I have been in the hospital again I’m now in rehab trying to get my strength back I love the video’s
Well keep you in our prayers thanks Bethie
Always when I was little to meet Chief Henry!!!!
Hey Y’all!! We are up here in your neck of the woods -Pigeon Forge, till Wed. Wanted to say Hi to y’all! Even looking for that yellow hard top jeep of yours. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Cherokee is a beautiful place to visit but i have noticed lately since all the chaos of covid19 most places that I've eaten out at doesn't taste the same or the people cooking the meal doesn't do a good job .My opinion since all this covid 19 I'd rather cook my own food and it taste better. The quality of food has went down and fast food seems like it's gotten nasty. Probably the best thing their was the local raw HONEY😁always appreciate your and Dawns honesty.👍👍
I’ve noticed that some restaurants that I really liked are not up to par from before Covid.
Haha Dawns expressions are too funny
A beautiful ride I always enjoy the drive to Cherokee it's so Peaceful I love it I know it's very hot but it's a Beautiful day I wish we were there You guys have already made my Friday a Great day💜 The last time we were in Cherokee we got ice cream in a little shop I can't remember the name of it but I had Black Walnut and it was so Good😋
We will be coming to the area the first week of November and was wondering have you ever done a review on the Casino
I’m so sad that the swinging bridge and traders world is closed. I loved going there and crossing the bridge as a kid
Used to love going to Cherokee it was so exciting. Went there a couple times a year camping and enjoying all the festivities that was going on then. Now there isn't anything for the kids to enjoy and that is a shame. They really need to do something to bring back the excitement . The last time we were there the only thing left there was santaland and it wouldn't surprise me if it isn't gone by now.
Thank you for sharing Rose
Nice to see and thanks for sharing!
I remember the chief, the bridge, the trading post. Have pictures of my kids with him. I find it very sad that Cherokee isn’t what it once was.
I love watching your videos 🙂 you all are so real and I probably would get along with you great 😁
Thank you so much 😊
@@yankeeinthesouth you are welcome 🙂
I knew from the look on Dawn's face.....she didn't like it! lol! We use to go to Cherokee when I was little too. It was a bustling place back then. I bet the outdoor drama being canceled this summer has really hurt tourism in Cherokee. Hope they can bounce back from it eventually. Thanks for the reviews! 😉
Dawn's face does not lie!!
I love Paul’s, although when my family and I go we normally go for the more exotic dishes but yeah It sucks that they aren’t providing dine in service that’s the best way to get the full experience of any restaurant!
I rode my motorcycle from Ohio to TN yesterday and I went to Cherokee today as well@
Be sure to go ravenhawk gift shop..home made fudge awsome things dolls plus owners are awsome
You never have to wonder if Dawn likes what she's eating!
Her face when chewing it said it all
So that's where I left my flying saucer!
Lol thanks Marvin
Love y'all video's will and dawn
Keep up the informative reviews.
I went 4 to 5 times a year. I have crossed the bridge, seen the bears, and got my pic with the chief. Great memories! It is sooo sad seeing it go down like it has. I grew up going to Santa land and so have my children. The last time I went you had Pizza Inn and Paul's and that was it to eat. I use to trout fish so much where you sat to eat. Paul's is always a long wait...Sorry guys
Thank you for sharing your memories Dan C
Could you guys do smokemont camp ground
Dawn's face told me everything!!!
