I was at Hillsborough for the semi final and saw Supermacs two fantastic goals and of course a great ball through by Terry Hibbit.... remember it like yesterday...it will stay in my memory all my life. HWTL.
The goal at St James against Leicester that was never captured on TV - smashed from the edge of the opposition centre circle, in the air for a full four seconds and Mark Wallington was still clutching at straws. The crowd was still buzzing two minutes afterwards.
Agree. Always remember that goal. I was standing in the Popular End that day (which was unusual as I normally stood in the Leazes end) I was practically level where he struck the ball. Talk about flying into the net. Hot the Leazes netting before you could blink. You are also right, it was never on TV, such a shame. I believe the score ended 3-0
I remember Supermac hurtling along on his arse towards the goal post, legs wide open, trying to knock the cross in and just closing them and rolling over at the last second
I was in that corner at Hillsborough when mac wheeled away after scoring his second in that semi final win, and was in centre paddock for his hat trick against Liverpool, great player great memories.
Saw him at Arsenal when cartilage problems had taken their toll, nevertheless he was lightning quick and had the physique of a sprinter. You can see from this footage just how strong he was, imagine him today on pitches that are like carpet….. he’d score 30 a season and be priceless. Legend is an overused term these days, but Supermac deserves the title.
Grew up watching this team in the seventies..some great players and great memories and goals...probably one of the best supermac goals came with his right foot away at Bolton..brilliant...who can forget the fa Cup semi final at Hillsborough and the massive Newcastle fan base in the kop ...shame about the final but never mind great times and watched some great big name players whoever we played...HTL ..DH7 MAGS ..
Me first Toon hero, then I started paying attention to the little lad who was feeding the bullets.. RIP Terry
Was there for his debut, hatrick against the bin dippers, then carried off, instant legend.
Supermac was my childhood hero. A sensational striker.
The best. What memories.
My childhood hero . The best
What a player, proper 70s icon. One of the players who would excel today too.
What a striker a total beast
Was my hero in the 70s, and still my hero today.
180 million in today's money , legend 🏴

Just before my time but would love to have seen him play ~ a classic Number 9 😊
Scored a hat trick on his debut, went on to average 30 goals per season
He was the alan shearer of the 70s no one could touch him he had everything pace strength and goals . He was my hero as a 14 year old SUPERMAC ⚽️
shearer not in same town never mind same street
Was before my time, but damn I can see why people say right up there ... a goalscoring beast

Cracking penalty.
Great video
What price for the man today?
I think it was against burnley , that he had 3 players trying to stop him one hanging on to his shirt, and one on to each leg and he still scored
🎶John Tudor is better than Eusebio, supermacs better than pele. 🎶
SUPERMAC 5 CYPRUS 0......
