Indeed, it’s a rare sight. The server is still mostly p2w but just the fact they removed crates, many, many children will save their parents money and maybe even never know about the shop.

I don't think I've ever seen someone remove a pay to win aspect of a server. No matter how bad the duping is, they just roll back the server usually and then go back to usual. Great job on getting them to remove lootboxes
I really think they should attempt to hide the stash like few months or even a year to make it impossible to roll back
@@lelxdme Stashes can still be removed manually. If there are any logs where they can check where banned players had previously been, even well hidden stashes could be found quite easily.

@@RealDanteS01 using VPN + an alt with 0 connection with main to secretly dupe could hide very well unless their staff actually somehow check it

Donations with small boosts that don't make everything p2w is good, maybe like exclusive name stuff like "proud donater" or "raddest dude", or a free cookie from villagers, profitable but doesn't ruin the game

this is sadly one of the only ways servers can keep up with the costs as said in the video, as bad as the P2W servers are

I think you're missing the entire point in that servers should not be businesses to start with. Making a server to begin with in hopes that a bunch of random kids come play with you is creepy to begin with, without the added exploitation.

They still sell 10 monthly keys for 40 USD or even better 10 zedarmc keys for 85 USD. So i dont get why its celebrated that they got rid of 1 loot box

@@tados112 kinda annoying how you seem to be the only other reasonable person in this comments section lol, they are still selling lootbox keys which you can buy with real money to kids, yet the creator of the video is shouting out the server owner for removing a single type of lootbox which was already ruined from the duped keys. and so many people are under the false impression that all lootboxes were removed, and the creator of this video isn't bothering to clarify that this isn't the case - going as far as hearting comments which say that they got them to remove the lootboxes. disappointed in this channel
@@BelleMasterGamer10 it's basically a heavier prospect of gambling, you don't know what you are getting yourself into and don't know whether it's worth it
I think it's interesting to see how hard it can be to run a large server without some form of monetization. Even if I can't condone the p2w mechanics, that makes servers going in that direction a lot more understandable. That said, I think it would be alright to have memberships that give perks like having areas or villages named after you or something. Some kind of in-game perk that doesn't give you a material advantage, just bragging rights.
You need to remember that having only those types of things will result in not enough purchases, thus not enough revenue to pay for the thousands in costs per month

Even trying to maintain 15 players can be hard tho for the average servers. Most fail. Whether it be 10,15,25,30,44,50+, where r u going to get those players from? Advertising is the biggest cost with servers unless your in a unique position. Eg. If you have a social media presence, etc.

A niche that might actually be nice for you to fill would be interviews with server owners so players can get the other side of the story too. You probably don't have to dupe for it either.
I will soon be doing this type of thing on a new channel of mine. Theres a lot that gets hidden in all the antip2w videos that everyone sees.

What is there to get their side of the story on? They use scummy tactics to make money instead of getting a real job.
I understand that some of these servers do struggle financially for the reasons mentioning the video, but that Mystery Box is an example of taking things way too far. I'm glad it got removed, thank you guys for pushing for the change.
The fact the server owner was like "Yep," instantly when asked to remove the mystery box, mad respect
I had a friend who ran a server with loot boxes and other stuff you paid for, his reasoning for it was actually good because 100% of the proceeds from the purchases went to helping those pay off college loan debts and paying for lunches at the local elementary school. the loot boxes only gave you food and basic to advanced resources and there was a 24 hour limit to how many you could open

I feel like the best way to distribute keys after you duped them would be to just to put them in chests all around the world at various location, you wouldn't be able to see the results but it would be a mess for the admins to regulate if it's literally everywhere
Gotta give the owner for handling it all quite well and being receptive.
props to them for having the integrity to remove the mystery box. 99.9% of other servers would've just banned you and moved on with their lives
My thought is they will come back to it eventually once the story calms down.
This was filmed about 4-5 months ago and it's still removed to this day. Zedarmc staff are some really good people

@@SalreixVonOtsuu they added bc of the popularity of gacha games. They thought it was a way of gaining ez money to maintain the server alive. But they just thought that it was not necessary. Like, really not.

Thumbs up to the people actually advising others not to take the keys and in fact burning them. That's the kind of honesty I like to see in a server.

I left a comment on a Duper Trooper community post explaining my disappointment with dupes being essentially wasted by simple rollback changes. Seeing the results of this video now, I'm really surprised, and I've just gotta say good job. You've outdone yourselves with this video.

I don't play this game at all and sometimes can't tell what's happening, but it's still very satisfying watching these videos.
Please expose SuperSMP. The owner is Chxrlie aka Glenn MC - he originally made a p2w server called melon then sold it, made another server called skycube which was a scam, money grab and go and now he made supersmp which has a sale since the day it opened he clearly hasnt learned from the other 2 p2w servers he made and needs a lesson
I honestly might check out the server since they removed the loot boxes. You know, to show them there's more interest when there's less gambling
they didn't remove the lootboxes. they removed ONE lootbox, that one that was already ruined by the immense number of keys duped (so they were probably going to remove it anyway...?)

that would be a great topic to cover, finding the funds to keep a server up. wouldn't have to be directly related to minecraft, as a lot of games that have community servers need to find ways to keep their servers running.

Imagine if you duped a bunch of items, hid them, and then distributed them about a month later so if they do a rollback, then you could just do it again.
People have done this before, I always feel like it would be the funniest solution haha
Avoids patches too, and lots of hidden stashes across a while is hard to break completely. I've always wondered what a full force long con would look like, only dropping a handful of duped resources at a time, not enough to raise alarm, but enough to slowly spike the economy. It would be slow and natural feeling but would still be problematic
It just would take ages. Its a lot of work
Have you thought about duping on a P2W server and leaving the items on it for a week or two so it gets stuck in the back up build and impossible to sort with server roll backs

Given that there's two owners and one of them is chill and the other one named the whole server after themselves we can probably guess their roles in running the server and how the dynamic between the two plays out
Not a very fair comparison, zedar had a youtube channel/tiktok and his name was well known, it made sense for him to name the server after himself.
I’d like to say, it may be my fault for the fly perk, as I begged for it back in the early days of the server, hope you see this, never expected the server to get so popular 😢.

I tried out this server to see how it worked. I think I might've seen you on the Player list. This was at least between 3 weeks and a week ago. I'm going to check out the server again to test it out.
If your server can't stay afloat without p2w, it's not a viable server. It's not an excuse to add p2w.

Me and a friend had a small server. We also had a crate system like this. Not as pay2win as this, but you could get some advantages. Might be morally questionable, but it was the only way to make money and maintain the server. We also had ranks, but the crates were way more profitable. We never actually wrote black numbers, but the crates helped us, to run the server a bit longer.
Haven't seen the video yet but I recognized the server in the thumbnail and can say that the community is actually pretty nice there, I just left due to playing on other servers :)

I have a server, and the only thing you can buy are that sometimes we have special events with actual cash prizes. Let's say 1 euro to enter, cash prize of 50. Usually the money given and earned are around the same, but its really fun and it doesn't ruin the server for others
This is the best server owner reaction I've ever seen. As a server owner myself, I'd never even do such a thing though. My server is invite-only but completely free. I only take voluntary donations from my players and 100% of the money goes to server upgrades.

As fun as some P2W servers can be as a free player, I LOVE seeing the economy of a P2W getting crushed. Glad to see it make a change though, hopefully not the last one. Sure, still P2W, but less so without a mystery crate. Hope to see some things about some P2W servers I've played once someday!
No way, i was actually just a copule months ago planning on doing something in this server also, I had a 3 mystery keys and started to plan the dupe but after a couple days i got bored of mc and dropped but its good to see that someone made a change in this server
omg i actually play zedarmc to "borrow" kits from peoples bases. i remember seeing thedupertrooper player head at spawn and i was so confused. nice to see some servers actually taking action properly now
