Man, I was in 5th grade when this was filmed. The classic NWA livery, Continental still doing its own thing...
    The nostalgia

I have so many fond memories of this airport growing up! My family and I flew on Continental Airlines a lot for family vacations! Sometimes, we would spend the weekends at the in-airport Marriott hotel to watch the airplanes during our weekends in Houston! Thanks for the nostalgia tour!

    Just noticed G-VIIO at 18:55
15 years later, the same aircraft was involved in a fire before takeoff in McCarran airport in Las Vegas with no fatalities fortunately

Dallas has a slightly larger metro population, but I’ve always wondered why IAH has far less passengers and overall movements. According to the latest numbers DFW hit 75 million in 2019, while IAH is still somewhere in the 40’s. That’s quite a big difference, especially considering Houston is the fourth largest city in the U.S.

I'm going to stab at an answer for you (i.e. My best guess) as to why Dallas/Fort Worth is more popular. Essentially, Houston is a very late bloomer when it comes to metropolitan areas. I started going to college there back in 1977, just after the oil crisis hit. If you look at a map of the Houston area, virtually all of its civilization lived within the confines of I-610, its innermost loop. Outside of 610 was virtually nothing but countryside and farmland. But given Houston was the major oil city, with the crisis came folks by the thousands - LITERALLY! The population grown was exponential, which caused development outside of 610 to bloom. It was in the late 70's that talk began about construction of another loop much further out. By the time I graduated in 1980, Houston had become a rather nice city through which to drive to being packed with cars 24 hours a day.
Anyway, to keep this short, Dallas is the most established area by decades in comparison to Houston. I hope this helps. But, if someone out there can contribute any help, I'd love to hear what they have to say (even if they think I am completely wrong).

One question, but why does aramco operate its own airline?

So many airlines and airplanes that aren't in the air anymore...
And most of the airlines that are still around today in this video are shells of their former selves sadly...

Love the TA A320 to San Salvador. Now Continental is married to United and TACA married AVIANCA - both marriages could have used some couples counseling.
