When you see it going backwards on the ground, that is the ground crew, that are holding the gondola, guiding it. But the Goodyear blimp is also equipped with Continental IO-360 engines and like any other aircraft engine they can reverse. The same engine can be found on a multitude of small aircraft such as the Cessna Skymaster.
