You need to be aware that at 8 baht per kilowatt hour, running your air con alot of the time can incur a bill of 1500-3000 baht per month..The first month I stayed in one of these low end rooms my electric bill was 3000 baht..( I was on holiday with a good budget so it was no problem) But an overhead fan is a big plus for this style of room to keep costs down if your on a tight budget..
Jojo is a pretty lady. I might actually go stay in a place like that my first month over there when I retire. Spend almost nothing and let my investments and social security grow one more month. Then the second month, upgrade to something else. All the time keeping an eye on what I really liked or did not like, my actual cash outlay, etc. I know what I can afford, but still, it is good sometimes to go low, before going higher. It may make you appreciate your next choice more. You can walk to many hotels and pay each day something such as 60 bath to use their pool.

I have almost always lived in apartments in Thailand, I lived 7 years in an apartment reminiscent of the first in this video but twice as big (45 sqm) Nowadays I often live in a newly renovated apartment that is 60 sqm pays 7000 baht a month . Both are centrally located in Bkk. I only need a small portabet stove, a kettle, a microwave and a rice cooker, those things do not cost much in Thailand and are easy to bring in a Taxi if I change apartments.

Great video and very informative, cheap prices and some managers may give VFW, RSL, or military discounts. But be alert before very long leases to foreigners that get roaring drunk and fight with their girlfriends or bars close by where the ladies have been consuming drinks all night long as part of their job and get into catfights with each other in the wee hours of the morning.

Love your channel and adventures. Why not do a separate Thailand real estate channel, possibly working with different realtors. You have a good feel for real estate! Keep having fun! Thanks!
I can see where these would be ideal for a long holiday. Cheaper than nightly hotel rates. Maybe stay in one a few months when you first move while you look at condos. Condos usually have swimming pools, game rooms, exercise rooms and are much nicer for about the same prices but I would rent an apartment for a month while I make up my mind which condo to move to.
These apartments are of a much higher standard than I would have expected! The first one works out at £86 per month, that's amazing value for anyone on a budget
I Can't understand that anyone would go to Pattaya to slum it after paying £500 for an air ticket and 800 + 300 + lady drinks for companionship. They probably get the companionship to clean and make the bed as part of the deal.
@@grahamjohnson4702 Eeeh, still don't get it. To take one or more steps down on the quality of things..? But I'm not native English speaker, anyway. And thanks for the reply!
@@grahamjohnson4702 Yeah, you are right. Westerners pay thru the ass to get here and then cheap out when looking for accommodations. Go stay in a decent small hotel for 400 baht a night and take a taxi to the beach for a few baht. Living near the beach is not important. Public transportation will get you there in 10 minutes. Go upscale a bit and save yourself a lot of aggravation if you aren't gonna stay more than a couple weeks. If you are willing to pay 500 baht plus for a meal in a decent restaurant and spend 2000 on bar and girl fees, why are you worried about the price of a tiny room in an old building? The first night you can't sleep because of the noise will convince you to change your priorities.
Hi Lucus N Ve enjoyed your video. Apartment life for me is over I can't be doing the stairs but if I was younger and fitter then they could be ideal. If your look for quietness forget it maybe two hours between 4am & 7am the rest of the time noise. Go view the property at night so you can judge it for your self. Ideal for backpackers and those on a limited budget. When I come I will rent a bungalow with no stairs and you can cook inside and outside. Take care GOD Bless you and yours. M

Hey fox, thinks so much for this informations about the hotel business indeed these guest houses are really within the reach of tourists who want to stay more than 1 month so it's interesting, thank you very much Lucas.
I would go with the first one ,although the road outside seemed noisy .I definitely dont want to be going through a bar to get to the room.Well done .Few other bloggers look at the basic end .The B8 a unit for electric is extortionate as the building owner will be paying the Government rate of B4 a unit for the whole building .Lots of them though add on that hidden cost which can be huge if you use a/c a lot .I am good with fan most of the time ,so it would not concern me too much .
warning: do NOT take a bathroom that does not have a separated shower. I mean don't take one where like that second apartment the shower water just goes on the floor. The reason is, after you take the shower, the floor is wet al day long and it is icky to go in and use the toilet or the sink with the floor wet. Bring an extra cheap towel or two to mop up the floor after your shower. I don't mind a one use all bathroom, but yech. And of course some of those side streets are awfully noisy until late at night
Great video showing really cheap options. I think they’re not really apartments, but furnished rooms. I’d like to see a video on something between these rooms and condos. I imagine there are nice one or two bedroom apartments with a kitchen for around the 6 to 9000 baht per month, maybe in the suburbs or even downtown.Personally I’d much rather live a bit away from the center and sleep at night ! These rooms must be really noisy with all the partying going on downstairs ! Better to live a bit away from all the bars and take taxis !
Covid has made really nice rooms in modern condo buildings very affordable. 8000 baht rooms are now 5500 to 6000. I watch the real estate ads in Pattaya all the time and prices are way down. Desperation. Thousands of rooms empty. The Chinese and Russians invested a lot of money here in the past 5-6 years and they are getting no return. 3 month leases and good deals on longer terms are easy to find. Why stay in an old building on a noisy busy narrow street when you can stay in a decent hotel or condo for only a couple thousand more a month and have better neighbors, a pool and a gym? Not to degrade what this video shows. Some people are willing to stay in a small room for short periods just to come and party on holiday. Up to them.
@@Rides4Kickz I am planning to Move to Thailand, and your information is very much amazing. All the trips with your wife are very interesting, you both look good together. Thank you
Ok lucas, great job on variety of lodging in Pattaya, please do some exploring on the dark side for affordable older houses. Some of us like the house aspect of life, hahaha. It can be fun, we might all be surprised at what you will find under 300$ a month for a decent house. Thanks, Skippa from Kauai
I once rented a monthly apartment up off soi Yumai, not far from the now Big C (previsously Carre 4), near the Pink Rattakit. 7,000 baht a month. Water and electric were very little. The unit did not get direct sun as the balcony faced North. For the price, these are the ways to go. No pool but I could walk down the street and pay by the day to use the pool elsewhere.
I think this time u truly gave out some good information as I have known has existed for quite some time. Because u are Canadian, I frown on your use of US dollars as most want to be Americans do that live overseas.

Another helpful video Lucas. Perfect for the single guy not intending to cook at home. Getting your deposit back immediately upon checkout is a big plus, especially if you dont have a permanent address and are living Nomad style. I noticed the Oyo bed sheets on the one apt you toured so I assume it is part of the chain? Also would be nice to know which website you used to find these bargains. Thx JC
I forgot to mention I think these Thai apts are going to fill up quickly after this whole shutdown is over with. Lots of us old duffers in our early 60s have 401k money saved. Like many others I have no desire to go back to a crappy job for a few years, when I have enough saved to live Cheap Charlie style until my social security kicks in. An apt in this price range you showed here allows for the extra cost of health insurance too. Great solution for early retirement.
great informative video.the bathrooms in the first 2 seemed to be a lot smaller than you get in a condo.they were the type that your knees are knocking on the bog and you soak everywhere and everything including your bog roll when you get a shower.i thought the 3rd one if it had aircon?was the best .it had a larger bathroom, shower curtain and was in a quieter location.the noise on soi 13/2? the second one would drive you mad if you lived there .the fist one was great for the price and not too bad a location.
I'm a retired 60 year old and was wondering if you could do a segment on getting your medications refilled in Pattaya. Last time I was there was in 86-87 as a young U.S.Marine on float with MSSG -11.
Don't need prescriptions for any except steroids and sleeping pills. Prices are cheap and you just go in an tell them what you need. Try Fascino pharmacies and get the gold card. You get a discount every time and the big one on Pattaya Nua has a huge stock. They are guaranteed to have what you need. There are lots of employees and one or more are actual trained pharmacists.
Wow. Its worth knowing about these so you could have a second base to use for shorts. To be honest I personally don't think I would want to live somewhere lie that on a long term basis.
Thanks for the great content! Are these rates available only when you walk in? It doesn't seem like these rates are available online. Also, what's the best way to find which apartments/hotels offer these deals?
Not terrible for the first month but there are a lot nicer places for 4500-5000 + gov rate utilities some with pool, etc. I'm a lot happier in a sub 30m studio condo with pool, basic cooking facilities (mostly to just bring food home but can heat up etc), off street parking, etc. Can easily be had for 5k. And not above or next to a bar noise is big for me.
Lucas, you have changed my accommodation mentality 😊😊😊 .. Definitely, on the next trip to PATTAYA 💔💔💔 I will stay in a CONDO instead of paying tons of money for HOTELS ... Question: When Vee's sneeze. Is this a sign of HUNGER? 🤣🤣🤣.
$125 a month for a roof over your head if one is in a financial tough spot can be an option for some while you get things together. I point out that while most of you probably thumbs down it, that first apartment may be a better living hut than 1/2 of the world's population has. As for a swimming pool, one can walk to several nearby hotels, pay 60 baht or something and use their pool for a day. I have never cooked a meal in my hotel room in all my years going to Pattaya so for a few weeks a basic room could be an option for some. One more thing: I am not being judgemental, but the cheaper the place, the more likely your neighbors are going to be struggling financially and you may have problems
Wise words, indeed. The very cheapest options tend to draw the "unwanted" people. Otherwise all of those 3 options look very good. And how often people really use the pool? If you are eager to swim every morning, then of course this is not your stuff.
No, that's not the difference between a condo and an apartment. The difference is that a condo is privately owned where as an apartment, all the rooms are owned by one person or LLC. It has nothing to do with the size of the room or amenities.
Good options for a starter place you might realise pattaya isn't for yourself once full again and you haven't committed to an expensive condo for a year
Just about the time when I think I would love to live in Asia, I see a scene with thousands of crisscrossed electrical wires, and I think to myself, "Their building codes must be non-existent". A little disconcerting. Even still, I can't wait to get there. Somewhere.

I just want to say that I enjoy your videos & this one has very helpful information. You'd be a great neighbor. Thanks!
Good video and thanks for the info. I hope to some day make it to Thailand but with COVID and my own personal situation nothing is certain.
thankyou for that insight Lucas they look great value ..But i would suggest that the 1 on Soi Post office will be very noisy with traffic music and short time bus
this is the information I need. Thank you
It looks like a good option for the 2 or 3-month Tourist Visa guys since condos want long-term leases. Thanks, good info.
your vids are the real deal . its good .
@@grahamjohnson4702
Ok, but where is the slum..?
@@timokautto9815 To slum means going down market in this sense.
Awesome Lucas! Needed this.
Excellent video - very informative - thanks
Hi, from your fan Peter in Sweden 🇸🇪.
You are a truly inspiring person. Would be quite nice to meet and have a chat or two, when time allows for another visit there. Hopefully soon, considered the quarantine dilemma outcome.🙄
PS ! I've lived in Columbus , OH 🇺🇸 for a year as an intern with a Juvenile Court, besides study at the College of Social Work, OSU. I'm inspired by the easy-spoken mindset of you american guys. Keep up the good work.🎶🤸♂️‼🤗
👍👍👍
Great information for a 1 / 3 month stay . Thanks
Good info.....Thanks Lucas 👍
Cheers Mate 😊
Really thorough and informative as usual. Good to see a safety box in one of the rooms but not sure I would risk it!.
Hey fox, thinks so much for this informations about the hotel business indeed these guest houses are really within the reach of tourists who want to stay more than 1 month so it's interesting, thank you very much Lucas.
My pleasure!
Good info and you get what you pay for, all good priced rooms .. spot on.
I noticed the prices are plummeting just now. It's good for us. I enjoyed that video Loucas 👍
Thanks 👍
I would go with the first one ,although the road outside seemed noisy .I definitely dont want to be going through a bar to get to the room.Well done .Few other bloggers look at the basic end .The B8 a unit for electric is extortionate as the building owner will be paying the Government rate of B4 a unit for the whole building .Lots of them though add on that hidden cost which can be huge if you use a/c a lot .I am good with fan most of the time ,so it would not concern me too much .
Thank you for the great information
Well done Mate...Thank You!!!!
IMO the last room @ 4600THB was the best out of the 3. Thanks for showing us what's available Lucas, cheers 👍
Yes if I was selecting one for myself, that would be my choice.
warning: do NOT take a bathroom that does not have a separated shower.
It's called a 'wet room'.
Up to them.
Yet another great video, lots of information, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
@@Rides4Kickz I am planning to
Move to Thailand, and your information is very much amazing.
Thanks, Skippa from Kauai
great video thanks for the info
A very good option for me. I need to be in the middle of it all. I like that one on 13/2 the best.
Thanks again and continue staying safe.
Right on 👍
Yes, but sorry - that one will be for me..
One of your better vlogs Loucous.Great information what we all want to see..🍺🇹🇭🍺
Glad you enjoyed it
I once rented a monthly apartment up off soi Yumai, not far from the now Big C (previsously Carre 4), near the Pink Rattakit. 7,000 baht a month. Water and electric were very little. The unit did not get direct sun as the balcony faced North. For the price, these are the ways to go. No pool but I could walk down the street and pay by the day to use the pool elsewhere.
You make very informative videos every time. Thanks
My pleasure!
great to see a cheaper side, good for the pet part too
Great job pal 👍
Great info for exploratory trips!
Glad you enjoyed it!
9:26 I like the Corona Bar - must be the most popular bar right now.
I think this time u truly gave out some good information as I have known has existed for quite some time. Because u are Canadian, I frown on your use of US dollars as most want to be Americans do that live overseas.
Lol, not Canadian
Thank you Lucas ☕️🙏
Outstanding Video. Was A Nice Surprise That The 3RD 1 Allowed Pets ( Say ONLY A Fan NO A/C No Way ) The Deck / Porch Was Different In ALL 3, Best Deck / Porch Was Apt 1 Hands Down No Pets Would Like To See A Few More
I find apartments a benefit to start a life in 🇹🇭❤️🙏🏻
Another helpful video Lucas.
Perfect for the single guy not intending to cook at home.
Getting your deposit back immediately upon checkout is a big plus, especially
if you dont have a permanent address and are living Nomad style.
Like many others I have no desire to go back to a
crappy job for a few years, when I have enough saved to live Cheap Charlie style until my social security kicks in.
An apt in this price range you showed here allows for the extra cost of health insurance too.
Great solution for early retirement.
I love those places with a balcony looking down the street and many places look much nicer inside than the shown ones but cost a bit more.
great informative video.the bathrooms in the first 2 seemed to be a lot smaller than you get in a condo.they were the type that your knees are knocking on the bog and you soak everywhere and everything including your bog roll when you get a shower.i thought the 3rd one if it had aircon?was the best .it had a larger bathroom, shower curtain and was in a quieter location.the noise on soi 13/2? the second one would drive you mad if you lived there .the fist one was great for the price and not too bad a location.
These seem perfect. Was looking at a condo for 3 months but i think an apartment would mean i could do a year easily at that price.
Thanks for the info. Nice work.
Glad it was helpful!
Great information
Wow. Its worth knowing about these so you could have a second base to use for shorts. To be honest I personally don't think I would want to live somewhere lie that on a long term basis.
GREAT Video!! Thank you... 👍👍
Our pleasure!
Very helpful, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Love your videos but I'd sure like to see more of the girl that was on the boat with you about a month ago ;-)
Thanks for the great content! Are these rates available only when you walk in? It doesn't seem like these rates are available online. Also, what's the best way to find which apartments/hotels offer these deals?
Great deals, especially the one near the beach.
I think so too!
Sitting here on 60mb in the UK, 326mb in Thailand, I would move to Thailand for the internet speed alone :-)
Thanks for this interesting Video , now Thailand just should stop their ASQ requirements and I will be there soon.
Where are they please?
Lucas, you have changed my accommodation mentality 😊😊😊 .. Definitely, on the next trip to PATTAYA 💔💔💔 I will stay in a CONDO instead of paying tons of money for HOTELS ... Question: When Vee's sneeze. Is this a sign of HUNGER? 🤣🤣🤣.
Yes, she was very hungry 🤤
First apartment ( jo jo) was a steal for that price. You also get a balcony.
More like B100 now to use a pool which would be B3000 a month .
Wise words, indeed. The very cheapest options tend to draw the "unwanted" people. Otherwise all of those 3 options look very good.
And how often people really use the pool? If you are eager to swim every morning, then of course this is not your stuff.
Thus another important difference between a condo and an apartment is that you cannot cook in an apartment.
Yes, one had a microwave but that would be the extent of it
No, that's not the difference between a condo and an apartment. The difference is that a condo is privately owned where as an apartment, all the rooms are owned by one person or LLC. It has nothing to do with the size of the room or amenities.
depends on the apartment
Excellent point! Thanks.
Very informative, good to know, thanks 😁👍
Quite welcome
good job. great.
great video ! more realistic kind of place to stay for a lot of viewers i guess, so how is the honda doing ? does it run alright around 90 km hour ?
Waiting on your tour of the full love inn and then type establishments
Thanks be there soon
Good options for a starter place you might realise pattaya isn't for yourself once full again and you haven't committed to an expensive condo for a year
useful.. 👍 knowledge
Just about the time when I think I would love to live in Asia, I see a scene with thousands of crisscrossed electrical wires, and I think to myself, "Their building codes must be non-existent". A little disconcerting. Even still, I can't wait to get there. Somewhere.
