They are are also required by water regs on washing machines, dishwashers , etc and most would a double check valve (also a non return valve is a different beast) as they are judged to have a class 3 fluid risk . .
@@dereton33 thanks for the reply. Sorry I did not explain fully. Hi Al, wanted to ask if this valve would be suitable to put connected directly before, say, toilet/kitchen tap to stop water hammering? I have put one SIOUX CHIEF WATER HAMMER ARRESTOR connected to my washing machine, but the hammer bang is still there
I had a double check valve fail. It was fitted to an outside tap and had a built in lever shut off. I replaced with same model bought from Screwfix and it’s lasted less than a year!!! Went to turn the outside tap on yesterday and this one’s failed as well....no water coming through. Is it just my bad luck or is this a common failing? Best wishes to you btw for a speedy recovery, always enjoy your videos
It's a mystery to me how this 'contamination' could ever happen. Does the dirty water leap up out ot the basin or the cistern and force it's way into the tap/ballcock against the flow of water?
Best of luck to you and your family.

Thanks for the info.
Great video! One question: can I fit this valve at the very end of the tap - I mean at the point where water exits the tap? Many thanks
I guess you could. It just would not do any good there.

No afraid it will not stop a water hammer.
@@dereton33 I will have to find the source then. Thank you
Glad you are feeling better, you look like you live in a sunny place, what city or town do you live in?
Hi, it`s Dawlish in Devon.

Bad luck I am afraid, Thanks for the good wishes.
Good video, so these are installed close to the source or just underneath the sink?
BTW. Best wishes and speedy recovery!
Yes that`s right Steven.

If you had a tap attached to a hose outside which had been left with manky water in the hose for a while then this may be possible as an example
Thanks B scooter.
Get well my friend your a tough old bugger
Thanks Vernon. Keep well mate.
