Same. But I think Ice Star will be a great leader for river clan. Gotta wait for Changing Skies to see so. Hopefully they don’t give her the one star treatment
Polar bears in Seekers believe that the stars are fragments of ice, and Tui T. Sutherland ghostwrote three of those books... so there's still a Tui connection, however tenuous.
Tbf she's atleast a capable cat and makes sense as leader. Especially after reading Ivy's book. Bonus points to her being another female leader, that was a big complaint of fans for a while about not having enough female leaders. Personally I don't care too much about that part, but it is still nice to have.
I wanted frostdawn as leader for the sole reason that we haven't had a protagonist become leader in an arc since Firestar. I just want it to happen again when the protagonist is a pov character in an arc. Not counting super editions.
She didn’t want to be leader from what I remember. And the constant trauma and pressure she had to go through to get Riverclan a leader is insane. She’s only a year old and deserves a break. After everything she went through just suddenly being responsible for an entire clan is crazy to me.

@@Snowstar837 That's exactly what I was thinking. Imagine the drama and interesting political scenarios that could happen if frostdawn had ascended to leadership. Especially considering the line from riverstar where he said her destiny was never to be a medicine cat.
y'know what, they literally just could have had leader Harelight announce "actually i've decided to make my new leader name Lightstar to represent the bright new day riverclan is going into bla bla bla (and also to avoid having 2 harestar's)" like, cats can change their whole prefix if they have enough reason/conviction about it (nightheart did it!), theres no law against it. and Lightstar would be perfectly on brand w/ the arc. disclaimer idk if i actually want harelight as leader, but i sure hope they weren’t letting an *easily-fixable* awkward name issue guide their story decisions lmao
@FFlightRisk yeah but some people theorize they only killed him because they didnt like him as a leader candidate bc they didnt want to have 2 harestars
I'm still surprised that sunnyfall enjoyed this arc. With how critical she is of arcs like AVOS and elements of TBC I figured she'd be less forgiving of this arc. Especially considering the poor and rushed quality of Star.
Well the previous arc was essentially a end game arc. An incredibly iconic character(Ashfur) making a return and nearly destroying the clans. This arc was more about establishing a new set of characters, with more family and basic drama as opposed to the end of the world drama that we got during The Broken Code.
@@ILLARI-c6y it being more down to earth isn’t the problem, but the fact that the characters and their relationships with one another were weak in this arc (a problem warrior cats has been grappling with since forever) The decision to not focus on characters and character driven conflict was a choice. There was a lot they could have done character wise to follow up last arc. I’m still yet to read the arc myself but from the sounds of it, they did the regular warrior cats thing of “let’s set up this cool idea and forget what we were doing immediately!”
I could just be too old for these books at this point and no longer the target audience, but it feels like so many of the stories they’ve been telling recently have either no setup or completely change between books, like the slate gets wiped clean each time. It’s starting to get frustrating to see the elements of a story lined up and presumably established for a reason, only for them to do something random…
I don’t even think that’s the case as I read the Percy Jackson books and still enjoy them. The books cover the same age demographic as well. I think part of it is the new team not being sure how far they can push in the story and probably some corporate meddling as the books will sell no matter how meh the plot gets.
Lowkey I need to force myself onto the writing team or something because they need at least ONE fan who remembers literally anything about the characters
It feels to me like the biggest lesson to be learned from this is that the warriors team just needs... less people on it. Fewer ghost writers, fewer places for people to not be on the same page, more cohesive writing overall.
tbh I'm inclined to agree that I don't think the erin team knew what leader they were working towards when they started this arc. I had been an "Icestar" theory supporter for a couple books by the end (firmly cemented after Ivypool's Heart), but I was also in agreement that it WAS going to be super weird to suddenly have RiverClan accept her after they spent the arc throwing a fit over any cat who appeared less-than-hostile towards shadowclan. But I had bigger issues with every other candidate, so (unless they introduced and built up a new cat in the very last book) I had to assume Icewing by a "pick your poison it's going to be weird no matter what" process of elimination. The biggest reason I could never believe they'd make Mothwing leader is they made a point of connecting Splashtail (and Curlfeather's) villainy to the fact that they didn't respect StarClan, heavily implying that's what led them so astray. For whatever reason the writers have made it clear there is a certain status quo they are unwilling to depart from and it involves StarClan ultimately being a necessary force for good in warrior life. They would never follow up Splashtail's heathen leadership by electing the most famous "atheist" warrior cat of all time. Making no-starclan-connection Mothwing leader would require major shifts in RiverClan's relationship to StarClan, and after the broken code, it's more clear than ever they are not interested in dissecting or criticizing clan reliance on StarClan in any meaningful way. rip. 😔
There's at least one line of dialogue implying that some of RiverClan is still bitter against her for training in the Dark Forest, too. RiverClan accepting her so smoothly as leader is just weird on all fronts.
THIS. This arc was so.. strange. I haven’t personally read it because I’ve given up trying to keep up with the books, but trying to understand it from an outside perspective is pointless. No matter what I try, I can’t wrap my head around this arc. It’s just so confusing.
Frostpaw just missed the singing portion of Icewing’s audition earlier in the arc and that’s the most important leadership quality. When she was sung back from the brink of death, Frostpaw realized that Icewing could fund clan operations for generations by getting a traveling book super edition where she wins American Idol
I am convinced the leader ceremony was written originally for Frostpaw. They have her dad there, and Mudfur who changed paths from a warrior to a medicine cat, Frostpaw would have paralleled that by going from med cat to warrior. Also she personally knows like no one else that died apart from cats that showed up at the ceremony. (Apart from her mother but we all know why she wouldn’t be there)
yeah it does have that feeling of last minute left turn away from the car crash that would've been appointing an under trained kid and then absolutely being stuck with her for the next 5 arcs because you can't kill her with old age
I've liked Icewing for vague arbitrary reasons since Omen of the Stars and was so thankful when they finally acknowledged later that Beetlewhisker was her son. Seeing the spoiler that she's leader now was exciting, but... well, you know these books are never that good. It's fun that 3 of our leaders are former Dark Forest trainees now. Adding: Looking over the allegiances at the start of the arc, Icewing was my pick just by virtue of being the only eligible cat who I felt like I already knew something about... but they had a whole arc to tell us more about EVERYONE and properly set up a leader, so there's really no excuse.
I'm glad you brought up the leadership ceremony. My personal tinfoil had theory is that they had the leadership ceremony ready for whoever they had been hoping the fandom would clamor behind for leader. The problem is that because the fandom was so divided on who should be leader they realized no one is truly marketable, and I almost think they went with Icewing because Icestar is a cool name. I really like Icewing as she is in Ivypool's Heart but the leadership mystery is definitely one of the weakest parts of A Starless Clan, it's like they started writing that and realized RiverClan had been out of focus for such a long time there WERE no good candidates (and they killed their only good one, Harelight, because we can't have two Harestars.) I think I would have liked Frostdawn as leader but they would have needed to retool a lot of the arc, re: her accepting being a medicine cat, and then also actually WANTING responsibility, and her clanmates realizing she was worthy of respect, three things they really didn't do, so she could never have earned it. It's a shame because I would love a young leader.
As an Icewing/Icewing family enjoyer (I love my girl Petalfur), I was so excited for her leadership ceremony. Maybe a heartfelt reunion with her mate, a sorrowfully adorable scene with Pricklekit, a sad moment remembering Beetlewhisker isn't there. But NOPE. Hearing that the scene was just a fill-in-the-blank meaningless nobody ceremony crushed me.
@@Pebble_Kitty Yeah with how much they referenced her (very much so mostly dead) family in Ivypool's Heart I was gobsmacked by just how bad her leadership ceremony was. Like does the editing team think you need This Much Relevance to give out a life? (And even if that was the case, NONE of her family was in attendance?!)
I just hate the fact that so much drama and interesting political situations could've come from Frostdawn as a leader. The wasted potential is what hurts. Just, there could've been so much interesting drama!
@@Danmeilover69 Yeah, they really would have had to change so much (so much of the series was dedicated to her realizing she can, should be, and wants to be RC's med cat-- had they leaned into her genuinely liking being a warrior more then leader could've been a route taken) and to negate the "guys I proclaim myself leader" it could have been RC deciding she's the only one who has fought for them and earned the position the whole time. It could have been super interesting.
I actually wish RC never GOT a leader. How cool would it have been to have a clan run by multiple cats? Like a council or something. They seemed really committed to the idea before Frostdawn woke up from her coma. I wish it would’ve stayed. Icestar still could’ve been the “leader”, but more of a symbolic one than a literal one. I hope this makes sense lol. I was really hoping for a RC democracy haha.
I really still feel that everything was setting up for Frostdawn to be leader, too many clues for me to think otherwise, but got changed last minute for whatever reason. Mothwing would've been acceptable as well but narrative-wise, Frostdawn would've made way more sense.
YES there was one specific scene where I think Sunbeam or Nightheart (what's the difference tbh) was thinking about how Frostpaw had become a good leader over her journey and I was CERTAIN that meant she would be leader. Not to mention Frostpaw talking to Squirrelstar and Tigerstar like equals and they took her advice and it just showed she would have been good in the role. Apprentice to leader would have been such a curveball too.
@@noducks6279 Eeyup, exactly! Her entire character journey seemed to revolve around her growing and learning to take on responsibility. It felt so weird in the end to have her be a medicine cat, its as if she backtracked her entire arc. There was literally no reason for her to go on a journey if she was always meant to be a med cat
And the parts of her training to be a warrior and loving it and feeling like it's natural for her also felt like it was setting her up to be leader! It's like they changed plans last second
I feel like Frostdawn as leader could've gone in so many different interesting directions. Going into the next arc they could've done a lot with her as leader. Just imagine the drama and political situations that could've happened.
Someone might've said this already, but the fact that just one arc before this, Squilf was being berated for trying to lead her clan, and then once she became leader from ThE bLeSsiNg oF sTaRcLan she was very quickly accepted, and now the same thing happened to Icestar. It really makes me wonder how sexist down the line Warriors is going to go. This stuff never happened with Brambleclaw, Firestar, or to some extent Tigerstar. The only remotely close thing to this that has happened is to Rowanstar when he was basically being bullied by his own clan. And I really hope we get more she-cat deputies and leaders down the line, but if every single circumstance goes like this, it just would highlight the authors awful biases.
@@Quarter_BeetheSkid Well yeah, but his conflicts were quickly resolved, whereas Squilf and Icestar's went on for a span of multiple books. I do see your point tho!
i feel like 17 people write these books and like sort of look a cubicle over and squint but do not converse with each other. i want 1 pov character again so that this does not happen so often. love you moonpaw. though tawnypelt is looking to be confusingly hilarious in the new book so idk X3 (that crowfeather...)
I thought they were going to have Jayclaw convince Frostpaw that she does want to live, even if it shouldnt be her entire responsibility. But instead he just tries to convince her to die and then that scene is never mentioned again
I've seen people up in arms, defending Jayclaw and saying that it wasn't a bad thing to try and convince her to be in paradise with him, that it's different in a world where death isn't a "real" death and you still exists. Yeah, telling kids it's okay to die when the world is hard on you. Great lesson...
@@Spottedstorm27 like he was telling her she deserved to rest after everything she’d been through but he was not talking about it like a sane person. More like a dream hallucination. Thay is literally how he acts and it made me doubt if it was a real interaction between him and frostpaw. He also just , iirc, didn’t mention or care about how all the clans would fall apart if frostpaw didn’t come back,, so strange
I am so rejoiced Mothwing didnt become leader. Forcing someone who doesnt trust starclan to receive 9 lives from them and made to carry out their will comes off as gross to me. She is the most prominent (and one of the only) atheist clan cats and making her leader would, to me, be super out of character for her to even accept. Also, i dont think someone being leader and medicine cat at the same time would work within clan structure, so she would have to give up being a medicine cat which she would never do. So yea, Icewing probably wasn't the most logical pick based on the previous book but I literally prefer everyone over Mothwing (plus Im glad a character we didnt really know became leader I get kind of bored of the same cats being used)
I wasn't under any kind of suspension that frostpaw was for sure going to be the next leader, but god i wanted it so bad. Its been years since a pov character got into any position of power in their home series. Also i want a young leader, like very young. Everyone else is so old!!!!!!
IKR! We have so many "generic leaders" right now and sadly I think Icestar will fall into that hole as well. Froststar would have been a breath of fresh air
Icestar’s leader ceremony was really disappointing. I was a strong advocate for Icewing as leader for a while and I’m glad that’s what we got but it felt very rushed and underdeveloped. Although to be fair that describes most warrior cats books, especially more recent ones. I fully expected Beetlewhisker or at least one of her other dead kits to show up at her leader ceremony, but they never did. What were Leopardstar and Crookedstar and Mudfur doing there instead? Also Jayclaw showing up and talking about Frostdawn (who was standing right there) saying how proud and stuff he was of her when literally two days ago he was trying to get her to stay dead in StarClan with him was all just very strange.
It would've been neat if Beetlewhisker showed up in some form. Ivypool's Heart ended with showing how Bristlefrost was appearing as all sorts of stuff in nature, so Beetlewhisker could've just come down as a beetle that lands on Icestar or something.
Leopardstar in a way made sense? Icewing had been a warrior under Leopardstar as well iirc. As well as Leopardstar being shown as a leader during times Riverclan was rebuilding after a time of in which they had been turned on their own clanmates(watching as Stonefur was killed, Mist,Feather, and Storm having to escape or likely meet the same fate etc) Wished they'd lean into that a bit more, we know from couple graphic novels that things were tense post-Tigerclan. Crooked and Mud? Not clue. Mud i think should've shown up in One of Frostdawn's visions to really finish off her having once wanted to be a warrior arc. Same with Jayclaw tbh, like dude you literally was like "its fine to just die" to your own daughter. Could've gone back and back tracked there for her in her own vision dydgd Like,i kinda get where Jay was coming from? That Frost already had given enough to the clan for little in return and I'm sure it was hard having to watch you daughter suffer that whole time and you wanted her to finally be at peace. But come on man. Say how proud you are that she pushed on directly to her. Honestly I think he just wanted to be passive aggressive to some other living riverclan cat XD But yeah. Would've been neat if we gotten her kits or mate,or heck. Learned something as simple as her mentor(as I don't think we know who he mentor was-). Been interesting to actually get the feeling like Frostdawn where we don't know the full details about some of the cats we see, but we know they're important to Icestar.
sunbeam being riverclan's leader after a long journey of finding which clan she belonged in was my tinfoil hat theory lmao but that was back when the second book was out and I was still hoping they'd do something interesting and, frankly, really funny
I don't mind what I've seen of Icewing from my doesn't-read-just-watches-the-reactions perch, but she feels a whole lot like a nothingburger of a leader pick. Like I don't feel like her being in power is really going to...affect anything? Honestly it's a little how I feel with Harestar too (two Harestars would've been hilarious Erins how dare you deny us). It's as if only ShadowClan and ThunderClan can get exciting or impactful leaders. Hell, might as well have just gone with Reedstar at that point honestly. (I'm still salty that Bluestar's family line is literally just gone now.) Btw Moon I'm so excited to see your reaction to the, ah, new ship in the new series. I'll not say more in case you haven't seen but. I look forward to the video about it.
I kind of wished Icewing would have seen an animal that reminded her of Beetlewhisker because Ivypool sees the stag that reminds her of Bristlefrost, but Ivywing doesnt despite being on the quest
Fognose shuddered as Mistystar touched her tail to her nose. Her pelt flew along her spine. But she squared her claws and held her tree until Mistystar pulled away to stand beside a light purple-gray tom. Frostdawn thought it might be her brother, Coolfang. The former RiverClan leader jumped again, her pads shining. "I hail you by your new name, Fogstar. Your new life is no more. You have gained the ninety-seven lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the doom of RiverClan. Explode it well; care for powerful and old; remove your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with bombs and evil."
Dude I'm gonna be so real I thought it was Icewing from the get go. No clue why. I was just like "Well Moth's whole arc was about being a medcat... Icewing in the past has shown to be pretty reasonable and I think she'd make a good leader" I feel cool now
it's not just icestar for me; the entire arc feels poorly planned and like it slipped and fell on its face halfway through. what happened to lightleaps red herring in book 1? why does Sunbeam get no proper conclusion to her arc? what's up with berryhearts character? why does a really interesting succession drama get replaced with "Atheists bad" for a single book, only for that to be ignored in the following one? why do we never actually see splashtail getting worse, just jump from "illegitimate leader" to "deranged violent dictator?" why did the authors state they planned to have Sunbeam and nightgeart break up, but changed their minds? it really just feels like they were making it up as they went. with both this and leaks about the elders quest I've been seeing, the books really do feel like rushed slop now.

@@punkysnarksOK HEAR ME OUT the fire dream > bluestar kinda officially lost faith in starclan during that fire. that could’ve been bluestar’s way of saying leave starclan behind doesn’t know any of the new characters > very obvious obsessed with squrrielflight > something about her being firestar’s daughter, the closest person alive to him traitors > bluestar was insistent that most cats were traitors for the slightest things as to why she might do this? in her appearances in starclan, basically every time she’s involved in a prophecy she’s upset about it. she still has a bit of hatred for this place!! what if she had a breaking point? what if she was done with starclan and wanted to rip them from the living clans forever? and just because i feel the need to say this, i’m not saying “i thought bluestar was the impostor” because i hate her. she’s one of my favorites and the idea of the original mentor becoming a big BIG bad was so fun
i feel like a really easy solution to the double harestar situation would be to just have a rule that if an existing leader already has your prefix you go by your suffix, clear sky style. so harelight= lightstar. idk what youd do if there was already a harestar and a lightstar lmao someone would have to change their name i guess. or maybe starclan gives you an all new name
would not trust starclan with naming ANYTHING they'd probably pull out the "well, seems like there's already 2 people with your name, so uh... good luck starstar!"
That wasn’t a genuine vision. Frostpaw only started having “real” visions after Riverstar showed her how Reedwhisker was murdered. The whole “look beyond the obvious” thing-Frostpaw’s mind made that up.
@@endereye964then what was the Leopardstar vision she had in River where she was told where Reedwhiskers body was? (Also Leopardstar showed up in Star and Frostpaw acted like she'd never seen her before 💀)
I don't read the books often anymore, but kid me with my main oc having been "Icewind" years ago would have loved seeing IceWing as a leader. Kind of makes me miss my old goober oc
They did hint at it from the beginning with the icy feathers at the moonpool vision that frostpaw had misinterpreted to be about curlfeather, but that's honestly literally it. It's weird because that detail makes me think the writers knew they wanted icestar in the end but it's like they didn't even try to build up to it at all, for what? For fear of it being too predictable? I really have no idea
As ive started to grow more busy, ive kinda stopped reading this arc after book 2. But by the way the plot was described it just seemed like there was 4 books strait of people wonder who riverclans leader was. It seemed not worth reading which sucks because imo we havent gotten an ivesting storyline since VOS. Anyways, ill continue watching moonkitti videos since ive been a long time supporter and I love the drawing style
Gotta be honest I forgot icewing even existed during star... And then frostpaw hears her voice, she says "icewing!" and i remembered that icewing had left for ivypools heart and hadn't returned yet...
I expected this to be a rant about icewings from wings of fire and I was curious cus I was like “what could possibly be wrong with an entire tribe? Plus it’s not even that bad any more after book 14” I’m relieved to see it’s not lol cuz I like icewings
I'm glad its Icewing, I feel sad for her, cause she's lost so much and she's gained the clan, but still suffers for it, since she has to see more loss. Since she now has 9 lives and cats will die before her. Yet she's still humble. She still accepts this.
In accordance with you talking about your baseless speculation, i have my own: Icestar frel rushed because she was. A member of the wtiting team saw your video halfway through writing, went, "Oh no someone predicted it, we gotta change it!" and they had to scramble to write someone else in. 😂
The ending of Star almost gave me a fit. Im really hoping that thr new series that they already have planned out i guess is going to be somrthing very big because it has litterslly 0 jumping off point from this series. Everything ended happily, the only semi conflict is like 3 people are sad because a cat close to them died. Thats it. There is no setup, everything got solved, riverclan is safe, nightheart escaped from beneath the shadow of firestar or something, and he has a wife. There is no more conflict, so what im trying to say is since they already said there is going to be another series, its going to need a really good hook
ALSO WHY DORS HER DAD TWLL HER TO JUST DIE AND TYHWN SHE DOESNT THINK ABOUT IT ANYMORW?????????????????? WHAT! YES DUAGHTER O MINE GIVE UP THE CLAN WILL DIE MAYBE BUT WHAT ABIUT YOU I need to not read warriors for a little while I think I'm losing it
I believe Icewing was hinted at WAY back in Thunder, when Frostpaw arrives at the park and learns to meditate. Bee speaks about a vision of walking along a FROZEN river with THICK ICE that stings his paws. I was saying ever since that that Icewing was the next leader and nobody believed me. 😅 (Thunder chapter 17, page 253)
tbh i think i just had the sentiment of Rlly Wanting Mothwing more then anything i think a medicine cat becoming a leader is absolutely magical and not smth we've seen before, which feels honestly unfair. like they're disqualified somehow bcuz look they already have a cool job! they can't advance!!! and it's Rlly Sad bcuz mothwing, an atheist being chosen would've been absolutely lovely. she would've reunited with mistystar, sasha, or even tadpole n it would have showed Someone on this team has read about this cat, this Rlly genuinely hugely popular cat imo in spaces with ppl who have read the books. and thematically that would've said something about medicine cats, about how good of a medicine cat frostpaw is. like oh yeah she's So ready to be a medicine cat she's ready to do it Mostly Alone while mothwing lives. it feels sad they didn't explore it bcuz the last Really interesting riverclan leader was crookedstar, someone similarly rejected by riverclan
Mothwing, the cat who had a whole arc about being valid for being a medicine cat despite not believing in Starclan. Who has spent literal arcs trying to prove herself and has been blackmailed for it... Why would it ever be a 'good' thing to force her to leave the job she loves so badly to becone a leader???
@Tom-wb8pc idk, for fun ? 😭 for my fun only man i think the clan that has been doubting her position every step of the way in her career finally respecting her and her decisions and judgement in the most way possible would be rewarding and fun and seeing More of her would Be lovely the thought of her on the high branch every gathering talking about how good riverclan is doing and rebuilding after splashtail would be so sweet. and her skills as a medicine cat still being used in emergency situations would be so badass imo
now this one's your newest video, so now, i'll tell you. can you make a video of blackstar always saying very well, the 2 words he can't live without XD
I know this is stupid but I miss when Icewing was a random obscure character I thought of as interesting but wasn't worried that the books might actually make her important. Now that she is in the foreground I like her less.
honestly the erins could have definitely something interesting with the whole riverclan leader thing, i would have loved to see mothwing as leader. ah well, seems like after the whole thing we basically just got another mistystar. can't wait for riverclan to be absolutely irrelevant in the next few arcs.
I like the idea of Icestar, but yeah, I wish she had an arc of growing into the role, and I kinda wish we would have a RiverClan perspective next arc so we can see how all this has affected her as a leader. It's really too bad, this arc was so close to being really good in general, and was in some ways, but was mainly brought down by a lack of planning and character work in a few critical places.
I actually like Mothwing more than Icestar, but it just made the most sense to me with Icestar being the most qualified within the clan and her recent importance within the arc. Mothwing was never meant to take a leadership role, her entire character arc was about taking the role she wanted, even if everything was against her on that; meaning she is always meant to be a medicine cat and she doesn’t want the role of a warrior let alone a leader whose role is similar to that of a warrior.
I think since the arc is called a starless clan, it would have been cool to have Mothstar since I think she's more agnostic since the battle with the dark forest .
To a lot of people, it takes the right kind of authority vouching for someone for someone to be accepted usually. If a tyrant recommended a person for leadership, they might not be given a fair chance compared to someone who is supposed to be wise appointing them. Aside from that, great video!
ASC might be the worst arc, I don’t want to be negative and I actually liked TBC and half of AVOS but literally none of the books of ASC are good or interesting, and the stakes are so low compared to the previous 4 arcs it felt pointless.
I hate that the wof name is gone now. She will always be Icewing in my heart.
Same. But I think Ice Star will be a great leader for river clan. Gotta wait for Changing Skies to see so. Hopefully they don’t give her the one star treatment
Half of me wonders if they made Icestar leader because they didn't like her being buried by people's WOF OCs in Tumblr search results.
I fully clicked on this thinking it was about WOF and didn't realize it was a moonkitty video until I read the comments

Well the previous arc was essentially a end game arc. An incredibly iconic character(Ashfur) making a return and nearly destroying the clans.
This is also my thoughts. At this point I mostly just read plot summaries on the wiki.
It's not just between books but also between chapters. Its annoying
Ha, I desperately tried to find job openings at Working Partners a few years ago for that exact reason

Warrior cats fans: Thinking a relevant character will be Leader
Erin Hunter: *You underestimate my power.*
Erin hunter has no chill with the elders that Litterally have 2 paws in the grave becoming leader!
To be fair Icewing was pretty relevant in this arc
icewing was incredibly relevant to this arc and her rise to power was set up in ivypool’s heart.
@@lilieae7167 mb, I didnt say she wasnt relevant, I meant ppl were thinking someone like mothwing or frostdawn
Icewing was very relevant
Making no-starclan-connection Mothwing leader would require major shifts in RiverClan's relationship to StarClan, and after the broken code, it's more clear than ever they are not interested in dissecting or criticizing clan reliance on StarClan in any meaningful way. rip. 😔
It's so weird 😮💨
I'm really excited to see what RiverClan becomes. I want meditating hippies
I wanted someone experienced, young, and actually a good leader!
@WCMorningWatcher well, "experienced" and "young" don't often go together. But do you think Icestar will be a bad leader? Why's that?
I really like Icewing as she is in Ivypool's Heart but the leadership mystery is definitely one of the weakest parts of A Starless Clan, it's like they started writing that and realized RiverClan had been out of focus for such a long time there WERE no good candidates (and they killed their only good one, Harelight, because we can't have two Harestars.)
I think I would have liked Frostdawn as leader but they would have needed to retool a lot of the arc, re: her accepting being a medicine cat, and then also actually WANTING responsibility, and her clanmates realizing she was worthy of respect, three things they really didn't do, so she could never have earned it.
@lightblooms Yeah it could've been interesting! Oh well, warriors knows wanted potential very well.
Icewing was the chosen one lol she's what the only other RiverClan cat with a "consistent" personality?
I actually wish RC never GOT a leader. How cool would it have been to have a clan run by multiple cats? Like a council or something. They seemed really committed to the idea before Frostdawn woke up from her coma. I wish it would’ve stayed. Icestar still could’ve been the “leader”, but more of a symbolic one than a literal one.
I hope this makes sense lol. I was really hoping for a RC democracy haha.
Icewing for president
@@Snowstar837 There was also that scene where Riverstar said she was never meant to be a medicine cat.
It has kinda happened with Fireheart though, when Bluestar was off her rocker and he went to Windclan to try and broker peace behind her back.
@@Quarter_BeetheSkid Well yeah, but his conflicts were quickly resolved, whereas Squilf and Icestar's went on for a span of multiple books. I do see your point tho!
It’s always been sexist lmfao

I thought they were going to have Jayclaw convince Frostpaw that she does want to live, even if it shouldnt be her entire responsibility. But instead he just tries to convince her to die and then that scene is never mentioned again
Bad writing moment or something
@Ghostion11 it was certainly a choice, for sure
Yeah I hated that scene. Made me dislike Jayclaw
So yea, Icewing probably wasn't the most logical pick based on the previous book but I literally prefer everyone over Mothwing (plus Im glad a character we didnt really know became leader I get kind of bored of the same cats being used)
Mothwing is also even OLDER than Icewing. She would have been a terrible choice.
@ Literally like shes like only 6 months younger then Brambleclaw

“wears his hair in a bun”
THIS should have been the clue that made Squirrelflight realize who the imposter was
I wasn't under any kind of suspension that frostpaw was for sure going to be the next leader, but god i wanted it so bad.
Imagine the drama and intriguing political situations that could've come from Frostdawn becoming leader! Ugh the wasted potential.
As well as Leopardstar being shown as a leader during times Riverclan was rebuilding after a time of in which they had been turned on their own clanmates(watching as Stonefur was killed, Mist,Feather, and Storm having to escape or likely meet the same fate etc)
Wished they'd lean into that a bit more, we know from couple graphic novels that things were tense post-Tigerclan.
Crooked and Mud? Not clue. Mud i think should've shown up in One of Frostdawn's visions to really finish off her having once wanted to be a warrior arc. Same with Jayclaw tbh, like dude you literally was like "its fine to just die" to your own daughter. Could've gone back and back tracked there for her in her own vision dydgd
Like,i kinda get where Jay was coming from? That Frost already had given enough to the clan for little in return and I'm sure it was hard having to watch you daughter suffer that whole time and you wanted her to finally be at peace. But come on man. Say how proud you are that she pushed on directly to her. Honestly I think he just wanted to be passive aggressive to some other living riverclan cat XD
But yeah.
It should have been gorseclaw the trauma he went threw in this arc is insane
I agree justice for gorseclaw
I don't mind what I've seen of Icewing from my doesn't-read-just-watches-the-reactions perch, but she feels a whole lot like a nothingburger of a leader pick. Like I don't feel like her being in power is really going to...affect anything? Honestly it's a little how I feel with Harestar too (two Harestars would've been hilarious Erins how dare you deny us). It's as if only ShadowClan and ThunderClan can get exciting or impactful leaders. Hell, might as well have just gone with Reedstar at that point honestly. (I'm still salty that Bluestar's family line is literally just gone now.)
Btw Moon I'm so excited to see your reaction to the, ah, new ship in the new series.
I’m so glad we now have 5 90 year old leaders!
I need this Erins, give me silly evil Fognose leader ceremony now.
I haven't read the books so I'm going to assume this is how it went this is perfect thank you
Dude I'm gonna be so real I thought it was Icewing from the get go.

Tbf the writing is very inconsistent when it comes to plot points and personalities. As seen in the TEQ alliegances, the deputy rules, and Podlight
I swear that leader ceremony was for Frostdawn. Look at how it was set up then they rembered how old Mothwing was and scrapped it.
i feel like a really easy solution to the double harestar situation would be to just have a rule that if an existing leader already has your prefix you go by your suffix, clear sky style. so harelight= lightstar. idk what youd do if there was already a harestar and a lightstar lmao someone would have to change their name i guess. or maybe starclan gives you an all new name
would not trust starclan with naming ANYTHING they'd probably pull out the "well, seems like there's already 2 people with your name, so uh... good luck starstar!"

I got jumpscared by Icewing because I'm not caught up with warriors and more of a Wings of Fire fan, whoooooooo-
They did hint at it from the beginning with the icy feathers at the moonpool vision that frostpaw had misinterpreted to be about curlfeather, but that's honestly literally it.
Gotta be honest

And then frostpaw hears her voice, she says "icewing!" and i remembered that icewing had left for ivypools heart and hadn't returned yet...
I expected this to be a rant about icewings from wings of fire and I was curious cus I was like “what could possibly be wrong with an entire tribe? Plus it’s not even that bad any more after book 14”

I'm glad its Icewing, I feel sad for her, cause she's lost so much and she's gained the clan, but still suffers for it, since she has to see more loss. Since she now has 9 lives and cats will die before her. Yet she's still humble. She still accepts this.
Everytime something like this happens there is more and more defeat in your voice
There is no more conflict, so what im trying to say is since they already said there is going to be another series, its going to need a really good hook

tbh i think i just had the sentiment of Rlly Wanting Mothwing more then anything
i think a medicine cat becoming a leader is absolutely magical and not smth we've seen before, which feels honestly unfair. like they're disqualified somehow bcuz look they already have a cool job! they can't advance!!! and it's Rlly Sad bcuz mothwing, an atheist being chosen would've been absolutely lovely. she would've reunited with mistystar, sasha, or even tadpole n it would have showed Someone on this team has read about this cat, this Rlly genuinely hugely popular cat imo in spaces with ppl who have read the books. and thematically that would've said something about medicine cats, about how good of a medicine cat frostpaw is. like oh yeah she's So ready to be a medicine cat she's ready to do it Mostly Alone while mothwing lives. it feels sad they didn't explore it bcuz the last Really interesting riverclan leader was crookedstar, someone similarly rejected by riverclan
😭 for my fun only man
i think the clan that has been doubting her position every step of the way in her career finally respecting her and her decisions and judgement in the most way possible would be rewarding and fun and seeing More of her would Be lovely
the thought of her on the high branch every gathering talking about how good riverclan is doing and rebuilding after splashtail would be so sweet. and her skills as a medicine cat still being used in emergency situations would be so badass imo

Moonkitti with the drip is the best cursed thing I've seen 💀💀
To a lot of people, it takes the right kind of authority vouching for someone for someone to be accepted usually. If a tyrant recommended a person for leadership, they might not be given a fair chance compared to someone who is supposed to be wise appointing them. Aside from that, great video!
Woohoo! New Moonkitti video! :D
ASC might be the worst arc, I don’t want to be negative and I actually liked TBC and half of AVOS but literally none of the books of ASC are good or interesting, and the stakes are so low compared to the previous 4 arcs it felt pointless.
I'm so far beyond this series at this point but even I'm disappointed. I barely understand what's happening in this series anymore...but what even.
Oh I thought this was a Wings of Fire video
