Ed Kowalczyk from LIVE said: "Absolutely the most beautiful song ever written by a human beeing". There are so many great songs, but I just can't argue with that... Rest in peace, good man. And thank you verry, verry much.
he was using his body just as a temporary place to have a break from his astral travels... now he is there were he always wanted to be. RIP Vic Chesnutt
I saw him play once and was struck--he wasn't the main act that night, and I'd never heard of him before--by the beauty and simplicity, as well as the playfulness, of his songs. Thanks, Vic. You'll be missed.
The best song writer ever. I went to a show of his and saw Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello and I heard Lou Reed was there. The venue only seated 2000 people. All 20 of his albums are fantastic. R.E.M. The smashing pumpkins, Madonna and many more stars have covered his songs, and borrowed his lyrics.
Merci - et on ne sait plus trop qui remercier - avec Vic bien sur - pour ce concert intimiste dans une arrière salle - et la prise de son est superbe (au passage bravo). Une émotion exceptionnelle.
I've just discovered it and i'm getting dehydrated from continuosly crying to almost every song i listen to. Can't control it. It's like his voice is tearing my heart apart.. I just want to thank you for uploading it and share it. Merci beacoup . P.S.: I can't understand the 4 people who dislike this video, i think they need to grow an heart.
Thank you so much for your words. We are so proud to have the chance to filmed Vic, and so so happy to see so many people who love the videos. Thank you....
Bless you Vic,Beautiful,Eternal Soul...Shame on the people scuffling about the room when you are in Session on this Song....They are disgusting rats...

please youtube delete all those stupid comments and give this peace of art the recognition it deserves. what a soulful interpretation and a great musician!
likewise for me - that tribute album is brilliant . i am going to see him in newcastle , england tomorrow night ! didn't even know he was playing until seeing it in a local paper today . he is certainly a one off and unique person. lookin forward to it .
Cargo video: You've got a video by Vic Chesnutt exclusively performed and shot by/for yourselves. If there's any justice in the world, you have entered history. Lots of love and glory to you!!!!
I know next to nothing about Chesnutt but I really enjoyed 'North Star Deserter'. Shame he and old Bill Burroughs never got together to do an album or some other collaboration.
Does anyone know what kind of guitar Vic played on? Of course it has the [very cool] custom alterations, but anyone know the brand, or was it specially made for him?
"Let the dead bury the dead." To sit in judgment over Vic; to be certain that he is 'going to hell', or even made the wrong choice, is the height of hypocrisy. To me, also an atheist (but a pretty happy one), it is a sign of a dead spirit (figuratively speaking). Have some respect; all of you!!
@codyhill06 Because it was that mans life not yours, and it's not for anyone to say how much better he could have lived it. He chose his life and he chose his death. So it understandable that those who loved perhaps only his ghost might have a problem with you questioning a man that can’t answer back.
no one just wakes up one day and decides that they want to take their own life just because they have nothing better to do. i know that living can be the most beautiful and fulfilling experience but depression takes you to a place so dark and hopeless that DEATH seems like a plus. DEATH seems like a plus. depression is worse than any physical pain anyone could ever inflict, i know this! if you have not experienced this then you have no right or ground to even have an opinion!!!
The guy could play at the drop of a hat. Not doing shows. it's the plan of most to discover that magnificent ghost when did I get perverted and my innocent eyes diverted from the view so grand imbued with distractions
it's good for you if you're not afraid of death, anyway i don't understand how can you blame someone who decides to take his own life without doing any harm to anyone. it's sad to see christian believe they can judge everyone. hope my vocabulary is better this time.
I'll take the time to be 100% honest here with both sides. Going around blowing Atheism out of your ass is just as disrespectful as someone forcing their religion on someone else. Let everyone believe what they want to believe and stop being so critical, and disrespectful.

If it were not for the band +Live+ I would not know of this man or his music. RIP
Hit me in the heart, RIP Vic Chesnutt, an amazing man.
Truly, Vic was one of the greats. A genuine one-off. Such a shame he's gone. x
One of the great songwriters. You are missed, Vic.
Y-aurait-il quelque vertu à applaudir un mensonge et à y voir je ne sais quelles merveilles "célestes" ? Bravo Vic !
Thank you
The few seconds after 0:35 is just the most delicate sound I've ever heard produced by a human voice.

I am so sorry about the loss of Vic. He had a wonderful gift that will not be forgotten.

Its things like me not trying to start a fundraiser for him to pay off his medical bills that I truly regret. Rest in peace Vic Chesnutt.

The guy laid it all out on the table all of the time. Even backstage or sitting in a room. White Heat White Light?
Da läuft's mir noch heute eiskalt den Rücken runter.
Could not agree more.
I flew around that Athens Regional hospital room
Merci

If heaven exists........
I got an advertisement featuring a car wreck before the Vic video. Not cool.
OK...now I see officially that you're loopy. Not surprised.
March 13 1978 my late son's birthday
Thank you
It's lovely to hear the original, but I do prefer Live's version of it. But ofc they had a great written song to perform.

i'm still in love with you.
Wish I knew you better.
rip...
So I am trying to figure out why Ed from Live said they was the most beautiful song ever written. This doesn't hold a stick to "overcome".
@codyhill06 Because it was that mans life not yours, and it's not for anyone to say how much better he could have lived it. He chose his life and he chose his death. So it understandable that those who loved perhaps only his ghost might have a problem with you questioning a man that can’t answer back.
@samesamething Hey man love is never having to say you're sorry, or that the dog did it
no one just wakes up one day and decides that they want to take their own life just because they have nothing better to do.

You obviously have been reading it wrong..
@codyhill06 :
And if "finding Christ" would have made Vic more like you...we can all be glad he didn't.
@tdottim :
Of course if you could have managed to climb in the skin of Vic codyhill06, you wouldn't have been able to do any walking.
Er war der einzige der supernatural war
Merci

We can only hope your faith falters.
it ain't supernatural
what a shame, what a waste. R.I.P!
