It's amazing to see how serious the Monsterverse began with Edwards 2014 Godzilla and to see it evolve (or devolve in some fans eyes) to Gvk and GxK. I'm 53 so I grew up watching the Showa Era and the Godzilla/Godzuki cartoon in the late Seventies. It wasn't until the mid 80's (my teen years) that I first saw the 1954 Gojira so I've seen it all. I love the serious stuff but also the campy, silly over the top films. Loved G-1 and saw it in 4DX. That shit was wild. I can't wait to own it in 4k and I can't wait to see GxK in IMAX and definitely can't wait to own it in 4k.

Despite the world continuing to be a non-stop landfill inferno, I am happy we are also living in a golden age of kaiju material. Never would I have thought there would be a day where both sides of the Pacific would have good Godzilla movies at the same time.

This is why it's an amazing time to be a Godzilla fan.
We got to watch a masterpiece of filmmaking. The Godzilla movie we always hoped to see. That being Godzilla Minus One. The serious horror of Godzilla
We get GxK representing the Showa series where MANY of us started our fandom. A all out kaiju brawl. Destroying cities and rejoicing when Godzilla popped up to challenge the big bad of kaiju.
We have Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which taps into both worlds of Godzilla.
Unfortunately, I had to endure years of being a kid with a father who drank. He wasn't a happy drunk either. For a kid, it's a nitemare. You look to anything to help you cope. Godzilla movies did that for me. Ask a scared kid dealing with an alcoholic father. I imagined Godzilla showing up to help me (I was just a little kid).
