In Cuba they call the mamey, El Zapote, in Mexico and Central America, mamey
is one fruit and zapote another one different, and then there is the chico zapote.

Yes tapachula can be very Sketchy at night. Careful guy, you’re in the other border town. Most border towns are dangerous. So glad and happy the southern people of Chiapas have embraced y’all. Im going in Late February to early March for a week or two. Family, mountains and ruins. Chiapas has over 10 different ruins. “Izapa” is a pyramid close to Tapachula. Best of luck. Message me if you need any details. I travel from Los Angeles CA to Chiapas for a month, every year. Been doing it since 2009. Peace!!!!

Great video! I have also been to many small towns and cities in Mexico where we are the only gringo travelers. You experience the real Mexico and not the fake touristy Mexico. Tapachula is as real as it gets! It is my understanding from a Guatemalan friend that Tapachula has really inexpensive prices on lots of things and many Guatemalans cross the border and things in bulk in Chiapas and then re-sell them in Guatemala. I look forward to more videos.

Goyo in Southern Mexico Chiapas and Central America (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras etc.) they call those pan dulces “quesadillas” It is funny because in the rest of Mexico and the States you associate a quesadilla with tortillas and cheese. Algo diferente in Southern Mexico and Centroamérica.

If you get stares from Mexicans, don’t make the mistake in thinking you’re not welcome or they don’t like you, they’re just curious people and love to know what’s going on around them. Lots of times they see the same locals, and even when Mexicans from other areas visit they notice. It’s almost guaranteed they’re willing to chit chat a little if you go up to them, we’re just curious people 😝 please don’t mistake it for negativity or feel that you’re unwelcome. It’s quite the opposite! They love to see tourist and I’m sure they have tons of questions, they love to socialize.

Finally she walked past again.... still staring. That's when I figured it out, it wasn't me she was looking at... it's my blue eyes. She may have never seen blue eyes before.

My favorite area is Uniom Juarez amd on the way the casa Braun. There are a lot of beautiful plantation houses. The Ruta de Cafe is a must. My family is from Huixtla and Tapachula. Familia Corlay. The rivers and nature in the area is beautiful but very hot! Hope you got to see the ocean too.

What is the coastline like down there on the Guatemalan border? Obviously there aren't any beach resorts so I'm guessing its rocky or something?
Edit: On Google maps it appears there are beach towns but the sand looks a bit dark. Also there's a bar called "Micheladas Sexo de Gato" that surely is a must visit.
