I agree those tomatoes look like they're stressed, and not like they've come into contact with herbicides. I dealt with aminopyralid contamination this spring and it affects new growth only (all the new leaves/stems come out reallllly twisted and spindly), so as long as new growth looks good, you're probably safe! I do the bean test now whenever I get a new batch of compost or straw just to make sure I'm not adding anything terrible.
Aphids have been bad for me, too, this year. They're all over some of my peppers, okra, and eggplant. They tend to attack plants that are already stressed (which, after this summer is pretty much all of them lol), so I let them do their thing. If the aphid load gets too heavy on a plant, I spray them with soapy water or wipe them off, and the plant usually pushes through. I always have a few sacrificial plants I let go, and honestly I've lost maybe one plant to aphids and they haven't spread to healthier plants. Also I get SUPER itchy from the little spines on squash stems/leaves, so that's likely your culprit!
Hoping the cooler temps and rain will help rejuvenate all our sad summer gardens!

It does not appear to be herb contaminated soil. The dead ends on the leafs usually means the tomato plant was watered stressed, with our temperatures it can happen pretty easy. If you are really concerned, plant green beans now and see if they grow and produce. Beans are sensitive to herbicides and will not be able to grow if the chemicals are present.

Great thank you so much! I am going to plant some beans in today and see what happens. I am really hoping it’s not contaminated. The company I bought from has great reviews, so I’m hoping they are just stressed out!

I wish you luck. Herbicide contamination is scary. The problem is some herbicides are stable in the hay, going through the cows or horses, and stable going through the heat treatment in properly done compost. Not sure how prevalent it is. But it does not look to me to be contaminated. The beans will tell the story. Might try the beans in another bed or container for a control.
