OK, I just made up a gallon of Tenacity/surfactant/dye and hit some spots in St. Augustine lawn in SE Texas. Now we wait. :^) I would have done it sooner (got my stuff about 3 weeks ago), but reading the directions, I need to do it in between waterings, and I'm having to water pretty much every day right now. I just bit my lip, turned off the sprinkler system, and put out the Tenacity. I hope it works without killing the grass, because down here, once it gets warm (basically March or April) we can't use pre-emergent anymore. I'll update here in a week. Wow, is Tenacity ever concentrated. I think with one bottle I've got a lifetime supply.
OK, the Tenacity is definitely working. Just about everywhere I sprayed it, the targeted weeds have turned white. Some took longer than others. It's a bit freaky how paper-white they are. I've since read that it's better if you apply Tenacity when it's not too hot (I forget the exact temperature threshold) so when I apply some more this weekend, I'm going to do it in the evening. I did notice that in the sunny areas of my lawn, the grass itself did pale a bit, so it was probably a bit too hot at the time. It's regularly in the high 90's and beyond where I live this time of year. So, this is great. I have something I can use post-emergent on my lawn for weed control. I use Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns in the early spring, which works well but I can't use it once it starts getting warm, which happens around March or April here. I suppose from now on I can keep using that pre-emergent or Tenacity, switching to just Tenacity post-emergent. I don't think I should use Tenacity in my beds in any case, but there I can continue to use Spectracide Weed and Grass Killer (like Roundup but a different chemical) if I'm careful about overspray. Only thing left is something to kill nutsedge in my beds - for that I want to try something called Sedgehammer. Has anyone tried that?
BTW, someone had asked if Tenacity is safe for bermuda grass, and I had promised I would report back what Tenacity did to the bermuda grass in my St. Augustine lawn (where bermuda grass is not wanted!), but I can't find where I wrote that. So, FWIW, it looks to me like Tenacity is killing the bermuda grass in my lawn, which is great for me, but not so good for people with bermuda grass lawns. I think Silver Cymbal posted somewhere in these comments a better product than Tenacity for bermuda grass lawns. HTH.
Not sure if you still monitor questions. I did not see any comments about the right time to fight the Creeping Charlie. I have missed the spring (early June now in NE). Do I really have to wait until early fall which I have read somewhere else.
@@coracora7714 I need to change my comment about my lawn service. Last Fall, I noticed a marked decline of creeping charlie. They are applying Speedzone as their broadleaf week control. This year, the creeping charlie is all gone except around the flower beds they avoid spraying. I'm using Speedzone in a hand sprayer there and have gotten good control in these small areas. My infestation was pretty heavy a year ago so I guess I needed to be more patient to get rid of this pesky weed. Lawn looks terrific now and grass has filled in all the bare spots left by the dead creeping charlie. Yaay!
tenacity is my favorite herbicide... one product and kill most of weeds like a crabgrass, nutsedge, creeping charlie, poa annua... and more more more, also prevent... :) you can use it with grass seed
Very clear and easy to follow video. Thank you very much for your great videos. After tenacity application is it ok to apply a fertilize that comes with weed control+insect control. E.g Scott’s Summer guard. How long should you wait after applying tenacity.
We got rid of our grass and did landscape gravel and yard decor, I do have a couple barrels of flowers etc, but cant afford all the water to do grass, and I am not able to mow anymore, no kids, cats, dogs, grandkids, so I am good with rock!!

I like the small purple flowers throughout my yard and spots. I also do not have OCD when it comes to weeds in my lawn. I bet I have a lot less stress when sitting on my porch looking across my freshly mowed yard. Don't let it get to you too much and try to enjoy nature for what it is.
Great information if it works like you say because everyone who cares about their lawns has these two problem weeds. You are right about if you don’t treat for them they will grow rampant all over the place.

@@coracora7714 You're welcome. Maybe some other folks have posted their results. But I'll keep you in mind when I finally get around to using it. 👍 My entire lawn is a "weed fest", and that's not the "smoking kind", lol! Actually, I call it my "weed yard" containing a few sundry legit grasses lurking "somewhere"! 😁
How soon can I apply Tenacity after using Scott's Weed and Feed? I worry about over-doing it. Your channel is excellent thank you for the content it is truly helpful!
Great video. However, Tenacity should only be used on cool season grasses, not warm season grasses. Still, your videos are excellent quality. Thanks. (I have Bermuda)
Once again excellent video. For my renovation I will follow your plan. I’ll be applying tenacity to my entire lawn after aerating and the weeds appear followed by fertilizer corrrct?
I haven't had too much luck with Tenacity in the transition zone where I have a mix of fescue, bluegrass and rye. It turns most of the grass white where it is sprayed. If it's not heat of the summer then some grass does recover after about a month. If I keep spraying it every so often, my grass is going to have white patches all summer long making it seem like the lawn is diseased. I wish it came in 1/4 size and cost bottle so people can try it out.
Sorry to hear that something doesn't sound right. Just be sure to use the surfactant (not soap) and check your mix but I have the same grass as you and it has worked really well. You will get somewhitening at times but you shouldn't get it everywhere. Also you could try a lesser tip on your sprayer.
I used the tenacity for my crabgrass and it worked very well after 2 applications. Didn’t do much for the creeping Charlie though. I’ll try again next year.
Hmmm...I used once 3 weeks ago so beginning of April...I'm going to do another spray around and fingers crossed it gets rid of my nemesis "creeping myrtle!!" Ugh!

Great video I've tried several things to control the creeping charlie with very little luck. Just had a lawn service quote me $50 a treatment requiring 5-6 treatments to get rid of it seemed a bit costly. Going give this a shot.
Excellent video. Our lawn is overloaded with creeping charlie. Not sure we have that much grass left. Can we reseed after we have treated? If so, when?
You're awesome! We just bought a house on 1.5 acres in Dallas, and the lawn is covered with weeds, patches of dirt, and very little actual grass. Is there a preferable time to do a big blanket of this across the lawn? Is it ok to do now, still in "winter," or should I wait till Spring?
Product looks good. Where are you located because one quickly figured out.. different products work differently in different parts of the country. I’m in PNW
👋 hi! I have treated my lawn as you said. It had lots of crab grass and clovers. It is now turning white those areas treated as you said. Since there is large areas with these weeds do I have to add more dirt and then seeds? Or the good grass will take over? Now the weeds are all turning white. I am kinda stuck now. 😬
Unfortunately because this kills clover, which is essential for fixing nitrogen in the soil, I can’t use it on the larger back lawn. Is there any information on its effect on insects-bees in particular, and worms? I’m very concerned about the environmental impact of what I do.
Love your videos. Totally going to heed your advice and instructions. Is tenacity good for weeds that grow up between the bricks/pavers of your walkway? Just dont put in the dye is what I would assume. What do you thinkm
So, per your recommendations, I bought this exact same sprayer and these products to apply. But a crucial part you leave out with that sprayer is what tip do you use? Do you use the brass one, the blue one or the other one? Also can you apply tenacity right after mowing? Somewhere I read supposedly you have to wait two days. Just wondering how you do it?
I use the yellow tip with the sprayers plus for best results. Remember 2 & 2 rule. Don't mow for 2 days prior to spraying and wait 2 days after. Hope this helps
@@SilverCymbal excellent! I almost sprayed with the tip that came on it. Thanks for clarification on it all! I bought the stuff at the beginning of the year and haven't put it down yet and now my yard is in desperate need of saving LOL
Put some tenacity down in a few spots last week to test and man is it working! How long would you wait to mow after putting down tenacity? Want to make sure it reaches the root system as well before mowing. Thoughts?
Hello, I have Centipede grass, I'm not sure if I can use Tenacity on Centipede. I have the Surfactant and the Lazer blue colorant on hand. Just not sure about the Tenacity. I researched the use of Tenacity, but nothing solid for centipede since it's a warm-season grass. Thanks for the many great videos. By the way, your lawn is just plain gorgeous.
I have all these recommitted products... and have used them , I may have owner used be used I sprayed Entire lawn now the lawn looks as though there less a brownish color to most of the lawn , but the grass is still growing, as for the weeds they have changed colors but not sure if they are completely dying , it’s been 2 weeks ,koi’s as though the weeds will require another application ... But my QUESTION IS how long after spraying will it be ok to over seed with grass seeds ?
I live in Kentucky and creeping charlie is everywhere I don’t want it, more specifically, in my gardens. In my strawberries this stuff is growing faster than I can pull it out. Do you think using the formula in the video will work and not damage the strawberries? Thank you for the information in advance.
Great video! I don’t have it in my Bermuda lawn, but Creeping Charlie is huge chore in my beds!(comes through my fence from neighbor’s lawn) Is this safe for beds?
It really depends on how many weeds you have, you should always spot spray and not just blanket everything. With 2 gallons for me I can treat about 15k sq feet of lawn with some weeds. If you have a ton of weeds you can mix more, this bottle goes a very long way. With my lot I get about 3 years of total weed control with 1 bottle which is pretty amazing. Everything you need to be weed free: Tenacity Weed Control: amzn.to/2JM4APm - Surfactant: amzn.to/2Xz6dod - Dye/Colorant: amzn.to/2XRUT6V 2 Gallon Sprayer: amzn.to/2xBJP3k
Found this video late last year, and I wanted to wait until I had tried the method, and seen results before reviewing. This video is amazing, and the method he lays out works perfectly. I have a TON of creeping Charlie in my backyard, and I did my first round last fall right before things got cold. It took a little longer for the stuff to turn white like described, but it did work. This spring I had to hit some of the back yard again because there was just so much creeping Carlie back there, but like clockwork, a couple days after spraying, it turned white and died off again. I want to point out that the reason I’m having to hit the yard multiple times isn’t because the mixture isn’t strong enough - I just have so much in my yard that it is easily missed while spraying. Probably will need to hit the yard one more time this fall, but then I will be able to plant new seed in the spring, which I’m super excited about. If I was to have one piece of feedback it would be on the dye - the blue dye can be kind of hard to see sometimes, so a neon color might work better. Not sure. Overall, highly recommended this video and method.
I really appreciate the nice comment & more so that it really helped you improve your lawn. We are all so busy these days and can use easier ways to get great results. For the dye comment you can always go heavier on that also for more visibility, especially on darker soils. Thanks again
Good to know! I tried this method 5 days ago or so and still waiting to see changes. Hopefully in the next few days. At what point should I spray again?
@@paathimself Don't spray again until everything happens. I know it feels like it didn't work. Wait a few more days, if you look through the comments I get this a lot and everyone comes back a few days later and is like wow!
Silver Cymbal Wanted to check back in and let you know that at exactly 7 days, the creeping Charlie has started to turn white! I’m really impressed! Still waiting to see if I sprayed the appropriate amount to leave the good grass happy but that’s user error on my part if it does happen. Thanks so much for this video! How often would you day you spray in one year? Is this like a “start of spring” and “end of fall” type deal? Or just as needed?
@@paathimself Let it do its thing if areas are missed you cam spray those anytime but the areas that were sprayed I almost never have to respray. Maybe once I did, but the stuff is very effective. The time of year is just when the weeds are bad. You will usually spray what you see in early spring and early-mid summer, crabgrass, etc. Fall is not usually needed as many die off by then but you can spray if they are there. Most years I spray 2x, and it's easier every year by a large margin, so even year 2 you will spray 75% less than before. Works very well.

HTH.
My entire lawn is nothing but weeds. Looking forward to spraying it all down and starting fresh
Not sure if you still monitor questions. I did not see any comments about the right time to fight the Creeping Charlie. I have missed the spring (early June now in NE). Do I really have to wait until early fall which I have read somewhere else.
This is what I've been looking for. My lawn care service has been very ineffective on my creeping charlie.
did it work? my lawn is covered in creeping charlie
Hi. Did you try the tenacity for your creeping Charlie weeds?
@@coracora7714 I need to change my comment about my lawn service. Last Fall, I noticed a marked decline of creeping charlie. They are applying Speedzone as their broadleaf week control. This year, the creeping charlie is all gone except around the flower beds they avoid spraying. I'm using Speedzone in a hand sprayer there and have gotten good control in these small areas. My infestation was pretty heavy a year ago so I guess I needed to be more patient to get rid of this pesky weed. Lawn looks terrific now and grass has filled in all the bare spots left by the dead creeping charlie. Yaay!
@@prsearls thank you so much! I will look into the speedzone.
tenacity is my favorite herbicide... one product and kill most of weeds like a crabgrass, nutsedge, creeping charlie, poa annua... and more more more, also prevent... :) you can use it with grass seed
That's why I like it so much
Do you know if it works on Chamberbitter, also known as Gripeweed?
Very clear and easy to follow video. Thank you very much for your great videos. After tenacity application is it ok to apply a fertilize that comes with weed control+insect control. E.g Scott’s Summer guard. How long should you wait after applying tenacity.
We got rid of our grass and did landscape gravel and yard decor, I do have a couple barrels of flowers etc, but cant afford all the water to do grass, and I am not able to mow anymore, no kids, cats, dogs, grandkids, so I am good with rock!!
Thank you for this information. I showed it to my husband and copied the information for him. Ann from Va.
If I spray this on my lawn, I’ll have nothing left to mow!
Same here
I used to think that same thing, Watch my project video where a dump turned into a pretty nice space with Tenacity: ruclips.net/video/VT73LKxPiWo/видео.html
Are you saying it killed your grass?
@@TommyG5585 I think he means that his lawn is all weeds so if he sprayed it there wouldn't be anything green left. BUT watch how bad my lawn was ruclips.net/video/VT73LKxPiWo/видео.html before weed control. There is grass in there trying to make it!
Hilarious!!!
Hey sir! is there a certain time frame to wait to reseed after using this product? great review and thanks for your help!
Tenacity can be used before, during, and after seeding. It's one of the few weedkillers that can be used immediately after seeding.
Super excited to try this. When dead, do you recommend to leave in lawn and allow grass to move in, or remove?
I like the small purple flowers throughout my yard and spots. I also do not have OCD when it comes to weeds in my lawn. I bet I have a lot less stress when sitting on my porch looking across my freshly mowed yard. Don't let it get to you too much and try to enjoy nature for what it is.
Great information if it works like you say because everyone who cares about their lawns has these two problem weeds. You are right about if you don’t treat for them they will grow rampant all over the place.
Thank you, I have some neighbors that have become all weeds now
Hi Silver Cymbal, can anything be done if weeds already taken over? Don't know anything about grass/lawn
@@lorettasanford6482 Even if weeds look like they are 99% you probably have at least 30% grass there. Watch my latest video and I show you what I did. ruclips.net/video/c54WSOI-MMc/видео.html
Great Video. When can I watering my lawn after apply the solution?
It’s rainfast after 6 hours, but I’d give it 24 hours just to be sure.
I have to give this a try. Last year I paid for an extra service. The hope was it would take care of creeping charlie etc. I had some effect but it's back.
I will report back in a few months.
Nice video!
What would you suggest if my lawn is made up of like 95% weeds? Spray the whole lawn?
How soon can you reseed after using Tenacity? Love your to the point and easy to understand video.
Thank you for the clear and honest explanation. It’s short, well illustrated.
Thank you! I’m going to take the dive this year and do this (I hope, because I don’t feel well a lot.)! Can you still cut your grass every week, or should you hold off? I have a guy who comes one day a week.
I will be applying this soon. Thank you for the multiple recommendations! 👍👍
Hi. Did you try tenacity for your lawn? How were the results?
@ oh no! Well I hope all is now. Thank you so much for responding so fast. I'm debating spending this kind of money not knowing the results.
@@coracora7714 You're welcome. Maybe some other folks have posted their results. But I'll keep you in mind when I finally get around to using it. 👍
My entire lawn is a "weed fest", and that's not the "smoking kind", lol! Actually, I call it my "weed yard" containing a few sundry legit grasses lurking "somewhere"! 😁
@ 😆 well my front lawn is beautiful! Its my backyard that's a mess. But I also live next to a creek.
Thank you very much, this is the best choice for zoysia and For Bermudagrass weed control amzn.to/2Jlr7U0
Once again excellent video. For my renovation I will follow your plan. I’ll be applying tenacity to my entire lawn after aerating and the weeds appear followed by fertilizer corrrct?
I had great results killing nutsedge but not so much with the creeping Charlie.
Got white edges but the darn ivy came right back.
I had the same experience with Roundup. TZone will kill creeping Charlie.
Thanks for this down-to-earth advice! I shall give it a go!
Thanks for this info…when can I water the grass after spraying this?
How long does it have to be rain free after applying?
Man. Battling ole creeping charlie and nutsedge now. Wish tenacity was safe to use in zoysia.
@@susanmandzy7768 Is your creeping charlie under control? Thanks for sharing your results.
I bought these products and used them as directed..it did not kill my creeping charlie..
Works great. Will only use tenacity. ...

I have a lot of weeds in the yard and also coming up through my new gravel patio. Will this work on the nutsedge growing through the gravel?
Great video I've tried several things to control the creeping charlie with very little luck. Just had a lawn service quote me $50 a treatment requiring 5-6 treatments to get rid of it seemed a bit costly. Going give this a shot.
I was just wondering have you had any good results using tenacity for your creeping charlie?
Excellent video. Our lawn is overloaded with creeping charlie. Not sure we have that much grass left. Can we reseed after we have treated? If so, when?
Why are clover killed? Does it provide nitrogen for the grass and suffocate weeds?
I recommend spot and not blanket spraying so if you dont mind the clover, just avoid spraying that plant.
Great stuff. How often should you do this? Does it prevent new weeds?
It doesn't prevent new ones but once you start killing bunches of them you will have much much fewer new ones
Can you do a video on how to get rid of Bermuda Grass without killing the turf (for example, fescue) that it has invaded?
Do you need to reapply? If so how long do you wait to reapply? Thank you
Thank you! Now I know how to do this.......simple and direct.
I’m in PNW
Awesome. I have been looking for something that's safe for my dogs. I plan to give this a try this week.
Thank you so much for this video. I’m looking forward to a beautiful lawn now.
Thank you for the nice comment and watching.
What is your recommendation for getting rid of spurge?
I have the same question as Paul M how long before you can reseed
will this concoction kill wild violets? great video...thanks!!!
A propane weed burner would be a better and cheaper option for weeds in cracks.
@@USAFTACP tried that. Weeds were back in a few weeks
Great video. I also would like to kill grass on the flower bed, will this product kill grass as well or do i need to add something else? thank you.
Do you have a preferred sprayer for this application?
Not for Bermuda grass. Glad I looked it up.
After applying this product what was your watering cycle or did you water after the 6th day?
Does it work for crab grass?
Does tenacity stunt the growth of St. Augustine and Bermuda? Thanks for an interesting video.
Put some tenacity down in a few spots last week to test and man is it working! How long would you wait to mow after putting down tenacity? Want to make sure it reaches the root system as well before mowing. Thoughts?
Great to hear it’s working for you. It only needs two days before mowing and just 4-6 hours for watering so you are good to go.
Do you have an equivalent recommendation for use in Canada where tenacity is not allowed?
Sly Tye you need to slap around your politicians
Hello, I have Centipede grass, I'm not sure if I can use Tenacity on Centipede. I have the Surfactant and the Lazer blue colorant on hand. Just not sure about the Tenacity. I researched the use of Tenacity, but nothing solid for centipede since it's a warm-season grass. Thanks for the many great videos. By the way, your lawn is just plain gorgeous.
Sir...I have a half acre lawn...do you suggest only spraying the weeds with the tenacity solution or spraying the entire lawn?
Is the product safe around wells or high watertable ares?
Can you use miracle grow plant food
and spray it on your grass? Just

👍🏻Great video and information.
13 ppl who gave it a thumbs down..
All work for chem-lawn
Great video! I don’t have it in my Bermuda lawn, but Creeping Charlie is huge chore in my beds!(comes through my fence from neighbor’s lawn) Is this safe for beds?
Once you mix the tenacity, do you have to use it all at once? Does it lose its potency if you don't use it all at once?
Your lawn looks great, about how many square feet will that 2 gallons cover?
It really depends on how many weeds you have, you should always spot spray and not just blanket everything. With 2 gallons for me I can treat about 15k sq feet of lawn with some weeds. If you have a ton of weeds you can mix more, this bottle goes a very long way. With my lot I get about 3 years of total weed control with 1 bottle which is pretty amazing.
Hurray! Something for Northeast lawns. Exactly what “attacks” my grass each year, especially creeping and crabgrass 😡. Beautiful spring lawn goes from lush to 💩 this time every year. THANK YOU
