    Nice playing! Opening my eyes to the magic tones in amps I assumed were just old and out dated-thanks!!

    Finally got it home and it sounds incredible! Great work as always Lyle! It's a hoss but boy you can do a few more things well than your typical amp imo. I like the reverb for certain things but would be curious how it sounded with a Flint pedal handling the reverb.

    How cool! My mom had one of those when I was a kid just learning how to play guitar. She bought it used from a local guitar player and used it as her keyboard amp for her band. It was the more Fender blackfacy looking version though..... maybe a little older? I wish I had it back because even as a kid I knew we had something special. We sold it years ago. For some reason I still have the amp cover for it

    Lyle you.make that sound great man!!
    I just picked up one a few months ago. The ygl4 (4x8 combo) was cut down crudely to a head. A 1974, i think. A steal at 100 bucks canadain. That's 70 usd. I told the guy that wanted to sell it to ask at least 200 . He said shit id take 100. And, ...sold.
    I modded it. One channel has some marshall values now, i cut the presence cap and some other things i forgot .. Pat Furlan youtube channel has some old vids, modding these.
    JD Simo played one on an album, and there used to be a video of him playing one. Johan Segborne demos one as well.
    Nice vintage tones. Dont ever pass up an old hand wired Taynor...

    The YGL3 with the buggy bumper beading is the best of the Traynor Combos. The bass heads are great modifying platforms.

    I wish I could use my amps :) there's nothing like the feel of the speaker moving some air. Most non players around you will chase you with a stick after you move some air.

    I’ve got one from 73. I like it quite a bit and there are plenty of settings that suit it well for all sorts of music, but my only criticisms would be that, like in the video, the boost is too extreme and trying to get a significant and noticeable amount of treble or bass is a little difficult

    Hi Lyle did you change the pickups in your Eric Johnson Strat? I have the same guitar and Im just curious as I really like the stock pickups. The neck and middle are alnico 3 and bridge is an alnico 5 with a little more wind. Bridge is around 6.8 I think. Bridge pickup really works for me and I love the neck pickup. Middle is good but I find myself thinking it could be a little sweeter sometimes. I don't like RWRP middle pickups as I think it makes the 2 and 4 positions sound more pinched or smaller/thinner sounding....which some peope probably like but I have noticed a more open tone in those positions without a RWRP pickup. I could be wrong I dont know. But thanks again. Love the video.

      Yeah, the Abigails were way too noisy for my use These are Kinman Traditional Mark IIs. I love the sound and the lack of 60Hz buzz is a nice bonus

      @@PsionicAudio Nice....what about the stock Eric Johnson pickups? Those aren't Abigails. You must of changed them to Abigails for a bit then to the Kinmans. I like the stock pickups a lot and my EJ only weighs 7.2 lbs so its the lightest most resonant strat I have owned so far. I'm more a Gibson guy but this EJ strat makes me want to play it.

    Does this version of the Mark III use the EL84 to drive the reverb?

      @brentstewart59 2 года назад +1

      They weigh a ton. Traynor used transformers that were absolutely massive... far bigger than anything Fender or Marshall was using

      @@brentstewart59 , Traynor heads are a little easier on your back than a combo would be.

    • @SwnkyTiger
      @SwnkyTiger 2 года назад +1

      I believe the head alone was something like 45lbs and maybe 75lbs for the combo. Definitely weighty.
