    Glasgow and Edinburgh down to London is a very common flight. But not sure how many go from Scotland to Wales. There's quite a few Scotland flights to the islands.

    I will happily pay $10+ a month for a patreon where you spend an hour each week going in depth on a certain map/region. It would be an amazingly relaxing learning session each week. Something for you to consider. Love the channel 🥰

    Friendly correction:
    Stonehenge was created by Neolithic peoples, not Celts. They were the population present here before any Indo-European speakers (though steppe-pastoralist IEs did add to it, along with burial mounds) and after Western Hunter-Gatherers.

      Nope! Stonehenge was erected by The Gallic (not Gaelic, two different people) people of Britain (Welsh another words). And they were transferred from West Wales to Somerset pre-Romans.

    Most of Gloucestershire gets its water from the river Severn at The Mythe near Tewkesbury, as far as I recall, so I'm not sure that Wales supplies water to Gloucestershire, at least not from reservoirs. (At a stretch you could argue that as the Severn rises in Wales, Gloucestershire is supplied from there, but the Severn is mostly in England!)

    Going through the backlog of videos I didn't watch. I found it funny when you said Scotland was far because it was 8 hours away. Just a bit of perspective about the US: We try to drive everywhere we can, and my commute to my university was 8 hours away. Needless to say, I definitely stayed on campus! Wild to think of it in your context.

    • @WelshASMR82Maps
      @WelshASMR82Maps  8 месяцев назад +1

      Oh absolutely, 8hrs is massive here and nothing in the US. We also travel by train loads here but I hear in the US this is quite uncommon. We would almost never fly internally in the UK unless we have to.

      @@WelshASMR82Maps Interesting. Yeah, trains are pretty rare here. You'll usually only see them in bigger cities. And of course domestic flights are also common

    It’s funny how in your mind ‘we’ created Stonehenge but the Romans are ‘them’. Most people in the uk now are mixed with many of those who came here. No one in Britain today is purely the Britons who made Stonehenge.

      It’s pretty uncontroversial consensus at this point that the Romans left virtually no genetic imprint on Britain. Unless you’re talking about culture, which is another matter (although even then, they had nothing to do with the construction of a religious site built millennia before their arrival).

    Lol @ Scotland being too far to travel to. Thats like a short road trip in the US. I've lived in either Virginia or Tennessee for the most part, traveled between the two many times and its usually a 7 and a half hour to 9 and a half hour trip. Definitely far! I think a lot of americans and europeans dont realize the difference in size and then how that influences their travels. But from where i am, Nashville TN to Lynchburg VA (hometown) is about the same as driving from Swansea to Edinburgh. Nothing too special in america, but if you travel 8 hours in eurppe you'll go through multiple countries, cultures, accents, languages etc.

    • @WelshASMR82Maps
      @WelshASMR82Maps  9 месяцев назад +1

      I totally agree - America is HUGE! However, your roads are much better. Driving here is exhausting, lots of traffic and stupid road layout with roundabouts everywhere. Hollywood has taught me that in the US you just have empty, straight roads, so it must be true, right?

    The UK is literally an illegal state! As its founding is based on an annexation. The only way it wouldnt be is if the UK government admits Wales is a part of the UK. Which ofcourse it isn’t as the naming of Northern Ireland on its own proves it. It implies that Wales is part of both the UK and Britain, but then if they mean the same thing, why name them both? Because really they don’t mean the same thing.
