- we take our stock chevy silverado with 33 nominal bald ko2s to our local offroad park. Truck in the first half only had locked rear diff put second half it contained a welded front as well. Overall an extremely capable and tough truck. During the duration of this video the truck was daily driven by Levi. It was never trailered too and from location either.

Best truck I’ve owned and will ever own is my Gmt800, I’ve put that thing through hell and it’s always treated me well, I put it through hell out elk hunting this season and ended up hitting a tree and ruining my bed but I have a new bed I’m going to put on this weekend

Welded front diff surprisingly capable. Makes me want to put an air locker or one of those lunchbox lockers on the ole Tahoe

I wanted to try the welded diff because from my understanding with the way the hub actuator worked was when you disengaged 4wd it would open the diff back up. It doesn't work that way with the rado, it basically goes into partial 3wd. It seems like in 2wd the transfercase still gives the front power, my theory is it has to do with the clutch plates for the auto 4wd feature

Ive got a 1999 GMC yukon STL and its pretty much stock and i was able to take it through so much and climb up stuff. The only thing that is bad about it is how long and heavy it is. It has 31 inch All terrains and rear airbags. Thats all though.

this is a pretty deadly vid guys. its nice to see different ways of navigating obstacles around here we wouldn't creep into mud holes we'd get the front tires close and hold it wide open lol. but still an awesome video nonetheless. its amazing to see what that truck would do with welded diffs and bald tires haha. definitely some different mud you guys have lol. I'm in Saskatchewan Canada and we have guys that get stuck on wet grass with bald tires lol. I've been getting into putting Atv tires on trucks and so far they have been unstoppable in the mud and in the dirt, when in doubt throttle out hahaha. might have something to watch on this account if you want to see for yourself.

Thoses are the best trucks out there. My dads 1999 has 440k miles on it and still running strong. Its a work and hunting truck. I've done a little muding in it to lol

Note stock rear ends will brake doing of road stunts I’ve learn my lesson spent 1200 on two transmission but got a free rear end gmc Yukon decided I wanted to do off-road donuts and what I learn was when the wheel have to stop it’s snapping the teeth off the pinion gear and diff teeth as well
Just upgraded the whole thing with a aftermarket built rear end or just do it on pavement that way it doesn’t break the teeth off
What Size were the tires? Only reason we have issues with ours is cuz the g80 locker mechanism makes it hard to weld the spiders

You just earned a subscriber. Would love to see more of this truck! I have a gmt400 suburban 4x2 that I really wanna weld the rear diff and put some tready boys on and use it as my overland rig

@Kill4Time255 got another vidya with my jeep coming out soon that also has ko2s and in my opinion I should have torn a sidewall yet it's chillen, also have ko2s on my daily and they just do so well they make so little noise for how capable they are

how does she drive on pavement with a welded front diff? my gmt800 rust bucket has some snow tires and fuckin rips in the snow but i would like it a little better if the front would lock up too. still never got stuck with it or even close, but i think id be able to launch it a little harder from a dig in a foot of snow.
Depends if you have auto 4wd option I think. It doesn't bind or anything but there's always partial power to the front left tire
@@japhethbonnema yep i got that option with auto 4wd. very interesting but if it doesn't bind then i'm tempted. don't really care about having just rwd unless im doing a burnout which is rare because i don't cheap out on tires. might just try it. think all 4 locked up with the Blizzaks would be cool as fuck.

Dude I gotta know how the welded front dif drove on the street I wanted to do it to my beater but the internet makes it sound like it won’t turn at all
Ok so it's complicated... it will work worst it will be is 2.5wd... so in our case the truck has the auto 4wd option. With the truck in 2wd the front diff actuator disconnects so at least one wheel is disconnected. However with the auto 4wd there's clutches in the transfercase and I think that's why there is partial power going to one front. However if you have floor 4x4 shift without auto I think it will work the same way that trick works in the gmt400s

The read came with a factory mechanical locker but it becomes pretty unreliable with age and miles. We welded her up. We also welded the front
I could never, i have zero power steering. Im 100% certain if they sold this in Australia this thing would do amazingly. Hell cartels use this thing like the taliban use the hilux
