Lyrics
A man came across this old tower one day
It was straight like from a book he once read
He lifted his head up and saw this young lady
And here's what the lady said:
"Moi je m'appelle mademoiselle Noir
Et comme vous pouvez le voir
Je ne souris, ni ris, ni vis
Et c'est tout ce qu'elle a dit"
The man was so scared he could only run away
He ran to the town and then said
"I just saw a lady with the longest dark hair
And I think she's a living dead!"
The people, so scared, took their guns and their swords
They ran to the tower and then
They saw the pale lady and felt a great fear
When they heard how she said it again
"Moi je m'appelle mademoiselle Noir
Et comme vous pouvez le voir
Je ne souris, ni ris, ni vis
Et c'est tout ce qu'elle a dit"
The people, they knew what this all was about
She was clearly a demon from hell
They decided to set her long hair on fire
In the end it would burn her as well
But the lady was no demon she was a lonely soul
Just like in that book they once read
Still waiting for her prince while her hair was on fire
The one last time she said
"Moi je m'appelle mademoiselle Noir
Et comme vous pouvez le voir
Je ne souris, ni ris, ni vis
Et c'est tout ce qu'elle a dit"
**English Translation: "Me, my name is miss Black And like you can see I don't smile or laugh or live" And that's all she said.
*sees a girl trapped in a tower*
*the girl speak french*
the man : "clearly a demon"
Sad how things work back then
Drenvara 😭😂
The commenter speak grammar
Drenvara clearly.
As a french person, must I be scared now to speak when I travel? XD
"My name is Miss black, and as you can see I don't smile or laugh or live." and that's all she said
I got this: "My name is Miss Black
And as you can see
I do not smile, laugh, or screw”
And that's all she said but I used google translate so XD
@@ryder4730 No, As a French, I can tell you that you shouldn't trust Google translate anymore🤣
Tired Karma is not « crew » is « live » ( im french )
Me, my name is miss Black, and like can see. I don't smile or laugh or live. And thats all she said
Karen "HOW DARE SHE"
The moral of the story: always keep your French translator around
@@peachkandy2017 yes
But almost no one understand that.
😂😂😂😂
Ou aussi apprendre le français
@@emelinehacquin3265 ça peut être une bonne chose à faire mdr
@Supreme King "Me, my name is miss Black. And as you can see i don't smile, laugh or live. And that's all she said"
or something like that
This somehow reflects our society today. When we dont understand something rather than understanding we tend to destroy the thing itself.
sadly so damn true
Not just our society, humanity has always been like that from the beginning.
Casey Ash this is so true it is depressing
That true just because we don't understand it doesn't mean it's wrong or bad!
That right
This is so sad, but for some reason I can't stop litening to this song.
IKR! It's really addicting to listen to
i know how you feel! this is the 14th time TODAY
+Yuki Ikuy by now, i've watched it about 69 times and counting
ikr
it's the french
Tim Burton presents: Rapunzel.
+Dilos1 75 Indeed.
ikr
My first thought
ha you are so right
Dilos1 75 JASPER!!!
If you thought there would be a happy ending you haven't been paying attention
Noah Golden Well it does say "a tragedy" above the title in the beginning of the song...
It's not a tragedy, it's history.
This is a real-life version of fairy tale.
Brock McClain Does history not contain countless tragedies?
I had no idea Ramsay Snow listens to french music!
Noah Golden sick game of thrones reference
it's like a darker version of Rapunzel
I guess it actually is.. xD
besides from her hair being burnt
that's why they said it's LIKE a Darker version.
yeah, basically
yea.. true true
I like how the singer pronounces "swords" with the "w" at 1:04. I wonder if the young man who first laid eyes on her ever regretted causing her fiery death.
well that was much sadder than I thought it would be
it was indeed... O,___o
Shadowdroid776 It did say it was a tragedy in the beginning.
AND he just cut her hair before the flames reach her and they lived happily ever after!!
YAAAY! Haha for a second I thought she died or something..
Lioness Cub nooo of course she didn't die that would be sad
yes, yes, how silly of me!
Unfortunately, hair are very flammable so he couldn't be in time. :(
Fioletowy Smok no honey trust him he remembered that book and understood that differences are ok. AND HE ACTED IN TIME. end of the story. this story is happy bc real life is sad enough we don't need sad stories right?
I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SONG FOR TWO YEARS!!! I'M SO HAPPY I'VE FOUND IT AGAIN
Congrats ;D
Vedder Vye I'm happy for you
Pan Pan samesamesamesame
Same when I was seven I found it then I remembered my name is madmesoille noir
I wonder what would have happened with she had blonde hair like Rapunzel from Tangled instead of black hair. I once read a book about a prince who liked blond hair and when he met a princess with black hair he hated her, but then she became blond and he loved her. :/
Talk about shallow :/ What was the book called?
what was the book called
Considering the fact that I read the book when I was seven, I can safely say that I have no idea.
+Mango Macaron XD sorry
what a d**k!!
As the Smoke filled her Tower,
Madmoiselle Noir then Said;
"Let my Prince save my Bones,
From the Depths of my Ruin",
And not knowing what this Ghost had just said,
The Tower had Collapsed,
Upon greater Looks at this Tome,
The Prince was in Attendance,
He was the Man that First Found her,
And as soon as He had Learned,
He grew tired, and hungry, and weak, and cold,
How he Wished to Grow Old,
"Bonjour, to all that are close by as of now,
It is I, Monseiur Blanc,
And I had not known of my Madam's Tower,
It's been a Time indeed"
To which the Townsfolk remembered their stories,
Told to them as Children,
They wished for Monsieur to BURN and DEGRADE,
As such, they started to Fade;
And Monseiur Blanc had to Obey
THE GREY MAN deep
THE GREY MAN In French Madame Noir would go:
Que mon prince sauve mes os
Du fond de ma ruine
And
Monsieur Blanc would say:
Bonjour à tous, de près ou de loin
Je me nomme Monsieur Blanc
J'ignorais tout de la tour de Madame Noir
C'était pourtant déjà le temps
(Tweeked a bit to fit better with the song)
This wasn't in the video
THE GREY MAN
Blanc means white.
Sad how he finds out she wasn't a demon at all while she was dying, but he couldn't do anything by then... Awesome song, I have a sudden urge to learn French
SirWilson lol this song actually got me into learning french. Worth it
SirWilson same
I absolutely love this song, and I would have to say the line that hits me the hardest would be "Still waiting for her prince while her hair was on fire".
Is anyone else noticing the different tones she uses each time she speaks in French? The first time being quiet almost timid as she introduces herself as the unknown coming out, then the second time more confident and sure of who she is. By the third time, however, it's quiet and almost painful that she ever revealed herself to the world that only saw difference as a nuisance and danger.
"Pale Lady"? PEOPLE LOOK AT YO SELVES!!!!! You're made out of paper.
T O V A .
My name is miss Black
And as you can see
I mouse, or laugh, or screws
And that's what she said "
google translate wtf
Well une souris is a mouse.
no
souris and sourire are DANGEROUSLY similar!!!!
one means mouse, the other means to smile!
vis is a tense form of to live!
g u y s
I was just making fun of google translate
I don't even know
french
I'm french i'll translate (sorry if i have bad grammar)
Me,My name is Mademoiselle Noir
And as you can see
I don't smile,laugh or live
And that's all she said **Tilili time**
Screw is "Vis" in french but it can be "screw" or "Live"
I honestly clicked on this because it said Noir and I thought of Chat Noir... I ended up being very pleasantly surprised! Ah, this breaks my heart. But it's so, interesting, to say the least.
same
OMG MY FELLOW MIRACULOUS LADYBUG FANS!! That's awesome!! I'm seriously so glad i'm not the only one! Now I can't stop listening to it
I thought that as well! But I'm kinda glad it wasn't, this song is beautiful
samee
I can't stop listening to it! I've almost got the song memorized!
Literally same
yes! It is so lovely and addicting to listen to.
lillyanna walker yess!
Misty Hall Lol yea
I'm already addicted to it..... XD
Beautiful song that ends in tragedy
;^; poor lady I hate hearing thing about when people kill for thinking someone was a witch or demon! but the songs so good I can't stop listening
Same, right? Now i wanna learn the whole song...
ikr
Yukihime Akuma I known it so sad but so good!
can't agree more
Like real life people who were accused of witchcraft, the whole thing was because they looked for someone to blame for things they couldn't understand. In this case, they didn't understand her, so the people killed her.
i have a theory,
i think the people are scared because they don't understand what she is saying so they fear that she is someone bad, in hopes that they will get rid of the so called evil that lives in that tower they burn her alive, but what a lot of people fail to understand is that she actually reciting something that written, because if you look at the translation of "et c'est tout ce qu'elle a dit" it means "that is all she said" so she could be reciting something from a book and trying to get the towns people to understand how it relates to her life living in that tower
it was just a sudden thought that came to mind
puppy boo!! Am glad am not the only one trouble with that.
1:16 I love how powerful it feels when she says it this time even though deep down I know she's just crying out for help in french
UGH SAME! Literal chills
Reminds me of Tim burton
YASSSSS
at least someone agrees
Ikr
+Ramen-Chan Productions oh someone commented lucky me.
I`m not alone
THEY KILLED A INNOCENT WOMEn.........this is like the messed up version of repunzle...=_=
lol yes
Stephanie, this is the Tim Burton version of Tangled.
EnderWolf 1234 lol so true
The real Rapunzel is even more grimmer than this
You should see the scary illustrations of the witch in my version of Rapunzel. The book is really old.
GIRLS FROM MY SCHOOL CHOIR SANG THIS AND IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOR AGES
Is this a language barrier situation, or did this young man take her "I don't live" statement literally.
Clearly this women isn't just depressed, she must be a zombie
Kaybee He must have, her ghostly appearance also added to his fear. It's sad she was just a lonely woman waiting for love but instead she got burned alive.
HA! I ruined your perfect 111 😈🤣
I obsessed with this song J can't go one day without listing to this even though it's sad
Alex Miller me too!
Holy shit this is close to Brother's Grim material (Brother's Grim read the real versions of fairy tales, the original stories never have a happy end, go listen to brother's grim)
I saw the word "Madmoiselle" and emedietly thought of my favorite two books. (One is the sequel to the other). I did not know this is what i would find, but i still love it!
Lazaria The angel which books?
The books are called "Madmoiselle Oiseau" and "Madmoiselle Oiseau kommer tillbaka".The books are in swedish,i bought them here in sweden and i am pretty sure they don't sell them anywhere else.
Lazaria The angel I'm not sure what Oiseau means in Swedish, but in French it means bird. Is it supposed to be Miss Bird, or something else? I'm curious.
Source: Two years of French classes
Mega Mixer the books take place in france, thats why her name is like that. The word "Oiseau" doesn't even exist in the swedish language
Lazaria The angel Ooh, okay. Nice to know!
I'm getting a Tim Burton by from this the vibe from this song. it's just so sad! And kind of creepy at the same time... But really sad!
Abby Lea ikr!
i love the idea of mixing the english and fremch lyrics. Very good, need more somgs like this.
*French
I watched this a couple years ago, I found it again because of how beautiful this song and animation is.
I want to look more into this!
when the heck did dirt got into my eyes.
It's not dirt, it's the ashes of the girl's burnt hair...
+Magi V oh my gosh, you're terrible.
Not only her hairs ...
Lilith Waters
Thank you😁
that was best reply ever.
I spent my several hours listening to this beautiful dark song LOL
Wow...I was starting to cry....
This still happens today, but the only difference is that people aren't usually being set on fire over something. Rather than try to understand each other, we destroy each other. It's sad really. :(
Yeah when someone sees someone with super long blonde hair she's a princess, when she has black hair she's a demon. Wow, wtf people.
Heather Heath
Yeah that's why he ran away.
He judged on her looks thinking she was a demon before she could even explain her situation.
Now they just murdered an innocent woman.
How unfair did this world got? If I dye my hair blonde, will I get love?
Heather Heath yup
Ahh Humanity thou art assholes .
Heather Heath
“I don’t smile or laugh or *live* “
7 years and this song is still stuck in my head.
The french part translates to, "
My name is Mademoiselle Noir
And as you can see
I do not smile, nor relish, nor screw
And that's all she said"
Rapunzel plot twist
Still get chills from this. Wonderful song, wonderful video.
When you're French and you understand what she say since the beginning... 😐
Being an English person who can't speak a lick of French, it's actually kinda beautiful to finally see what she's saying at the end of the video. :)
This made me cry, I love it so much
i've watched this about 20 times... and just noticed Noir had a bun on the side of her head XD
Lol me too XD didn't see it because of the dark background
It's been 7 years and I'm still watching this.
Reminds me of the story of Medusa in the series called Mekakucity Actors/Heat Haze Days - black-haired lady in a tower who just wanted to settled down with her family, but people were afraid of, so they tried to kill her.
Oh god I remember that story... They wouldn't believe the man when he said he loved her, and thought she cast a spell on him... All he wanted to go home to his wife and child, but NOOO he can't because they're "monsters" and they're a threat to humanity and must be killed.
I love this because it just shows the picture of society- how people misunderstood others because they don't understand them so they would act differently to them just because they're different
Wow I already can sing the french part!! Is so easy!
it's easier when you understand lyrics ;)
Yeah, I know. Is the first think that I use to do
Darklingvixx 34
yeah, it's so hard when you don't know what you're singing XD
Yeah, and that is important because you could be saying something...bad(? and you even don't know it. Something that has another sense...xD
Darklingvixx 34
or no sens at all XD
my god, this is dark...
Ikr
Dark as black.
The Disney story or fairy tales are Happily Ever After. But in actual tales like these.....!!!! They actually destroy the princess in highest tower. The people in those days believed them to be witches. No Happy ever after there!!! The Young guy in here didn't even save her. Did you see it! Just let her die!
no i didnt im blind
July van Dorp I see. Well watch it again. He just ran to village and told the villagers about her. They burn the tower with her inside. He just watched as she burned inside the highest tower.
aahh jjsalt1982
July van Dorp Yep. It's horrible. Good story though. Worth watching. The song is amazing too.
I see you were unable to comprehend the shock and horror he felt when he realized his mistake and that it was too late for him to save her. His face may not have changed much, but it was plain to see from the way he looked in the book, the way his hand went to his heart, and the subtle expression on his face as he looked back up at the already burning tower that he regretted having struck a match on this tragedy.
I remember watching this like 4-5 years back and remember the lyrics to heart I js suddenly remember it today GODDAMN MEMORY REFLEX I STILL REMEMBER HOW GOOD THIS IS
I wantched it in my English class (I'm french) I really liked this song !
This song just has such a charming tune and dazzling story; It's difficult not to love~
"the people they know what this all was about She was clearly a demon from hell" Well apparently they had no clue what this all was about and she was clearly NOT a demon from hell she was just a lonely soul.
Kei Chan that was how the towns people perceived it
They may have been wrong and she was not a demon. But she was french so it was still the correct jugement.
I frickin love this song so much. I feel bad for Mademoiselle Noir because the people judged her too quickly. It looked like in the end the man who came across her in the beginning saw the book and realized she was rudely judged too late... That's how I see it
I love her voice
Idk why this ended up in my suggested videos, but I'm glad it did.
L'accent anglais qui prononce le français je le trouve trop mignon! XD
Nous les français par contre quand on parle anglais c'est pas du tout mignon, on a l'air débiles 😭🤣🤣
The singer's voice is absolutely marvellous, so beautiful!! ;u;
first time hearing this, LOVE IT
*english translation*
_"Hello my name is Mademoiselle Noir(Miss Black) and as you can see it i do not laugh nor smile nor screw, and that was all she said"_
For all who were wondering what she was saying
'screw' is live.
Oh don't mind me... I'm just here... you know... raping the replay button.
This is my 54th time listening to this song... the music, the vocals, the plot, and the art it's all perfect!
Tiny Musical fan 👌
I am determined to replay this until I can say all of the french words!
Oh my god I still adore this! The first time I heard it was fkr an ad!
It's really sad because this shows that we fear the one who is different to us and we destroy that people in some way
Or you can take it like the woman is a humans natural drives to protect once own against outside forces.
Because of reasons this natural defence mecanism is hated and broken down. Leaving the question of what horror awaits when it is gone. Perhaps she was there to keep the real demons sealed all along.
0:22 when u dont even know any French and u aren't trying to learn it but u try to sing the best part of this song anyway omg
the feels man*Sob**Sob* the feels
OMG... HELP.... THIS song is sad.... I love French, but I can't speak French... Miss Dark is very lonely... I don't know... Ohhh... SAD... SAD....SAD AND MAGIC!!!
*Sorry I can't speak English, but I can speak Polish...

Piękna piosenka... Zgadzam się Tim Burton gdzie jesteś???
Melodia jest nałogiem... Rytm- miłością.... Słowa nie można opisać❤❤❤❤👊👊👊😘😍
I still don't know why this appeared in my recommended videos for so long... But I don't regret it! This is beyond beautiful!
belle chanson
triste , mais très belle
This is beautiful! I love the French!!
Anyone want me to make a tutorial on this? Like, comment yes and subscribe 🙂
For piano??? YES!!!
yes please!!
Mystic Shadow yes?
For those of you who dont know, the singer's artistic name is ppeppina you can find her profile in hitrecords(.)com also another song verty similar to this one called "la belle et la bete". Its a very good song i recommend it all the way.
In Hetalia, you know how there's someone representing France?
What if he saw this vid? LOL
This is the last place I was expecting to find another Hetalian xD
Lel
#Lifeofafangirl
Imagine if he showed this to the others after working on it with England (since he couldn't trust American to keep it a secret)
This is the only time i've ever been thankful for youtube adverts. Love the music and the video! It's very Tim Burton-esque.
You know, she could've just cut her hair while it was on fire but you know, whatever ._.
She hasn' t got shissors.
you can't rip your hair with you own hand in such a short time. She got no scissors or sharp objects..
Roberta Andronache ~le sigh~ this lady needs a Girl Scout lesson -_-
"always be prepared for anything that can happen"
But in this case:
"Always Be prepared for an angry mob of undead haters that want to set you on fire"
I was screaming in my head the same thing. xDD Just like, cut it with a sharp rock or something... ;^;
Well it seems like that lady 'wasn't prepared for anything that could happen' U^U . It seems that she was staying in an empty tower which doesn't make much sense since she would have o food to eat or water to drink but--anyway---
This can't be more beautiful...
yea, us humans tind to be cared of things we don't understad
God, the memories from this. Everything about this reeks 2009 emo, and my edgy phase that I went through in 5th-7th grade. Brava, past me. Bravicima.
i keep listening to this song for a week straight. like in that book they once read
THEY THINK SHE'S LIVING DEAD BUT ARE WE NOT GONNA TALK ABOUT THE GIRL WITH HER NECK COMPLETELY LIKE- SNAPPED?!
Why did the original go to private video I remember having this in my favorites years ago. It's crap that some one would like to hide something so artistic. I suspect Levi or some corporate bs.
I remember when I listened to this in 2012 and remembered it after all this time
Sad and, unfortunately, somehow realistic story. It remembers me myself, 'cos I am a very strange person, a lot of people (including my mates) showing me their principles, but I think they are drivels. They want to I am one of the most. They do not like differences.
Unfortunately, today, but also in the past, people destroys all different and unknown. I hope that I am not only who thinks this and primarily who cares.
About music and clip, changes English-to-French are amazing, but I can not speak French, then I don't know, what the lady said. I understand only J'mapelle mademoiselle Noir, what means My name is mademoiselle (means lady) Noir (black).
Who thinks the same, I'll be happy, if you write your opinions under mine.
Lindë K. In the end you see in fire letters what she says
Linda Kynychová i think its so sad that people dont want to learn anymore. What they dint understand, is weird or evil. The humans sonk so far
Wow, this is so sad. The song and animation is beautiful. The story is so thought-provoking to me, like, how many fairy tales and people's stories do we cut short out of fear? Especially when they just needed someone to listen to them?
when you live in the southern east asia and the teachers there doesn't teach you french. though i only know the basic words cause of movies and songs 😂😂
Wow, I saw this on a commercial . It's Amazing usually I'm skipping the commercials. I see myself re-playing this one. :)
Can I borrow someone's replay button mine's broken
0:00
Sorry mate I kinda need them .
Don't know why RUclips recommend this dark song for me but I love it! This song is really good, the voice, the beat
Moral of the story: Be multilingual. Also, this looks like Tim Burton's work.
Can you diddly darn not But he also could've thought she was speaking a demonic language and adding to her fair skin long black hair and the crow that sat on her arm at one point she looks creepy . And if you take into account the people were clearly superstitious/religious plus the language barrier the man could've very well thought she was a demon without knowing what she said .
This makes me think Mademoiselle Noir foreshadowed her death. That's what I concluded when I read the translation. "And like you can see, I don't smile, laugh, or live." She's telling the audience that she waited for her prince, that never came, and died waiting, giving up.
Well.... That was dark.
I love it! It's so beautiful and touching! Truly a piece of art.
...
Is it bad that I want to sing such a sad song to my future children????
Meh. Whatever.
I'm pretty sure "live" in french is "vivre". :/
beautiful song though.
It is "vivre" but that is the conjugated form, the infinitive.
ahhh i see, thank you :)
Emily Gould no problem :)
Emily Gould yes I am french
Am appreciative of the beautiful music used in this short film
