The Cinnabon example made it click for me that scents absolutely encourage me to linger and consider buying something. And if the scent is that good, I'm not sure I could be too torn up over the manipulation. Nose wonderlands are too rare.

These days I just hear top 40 stuff played over and over in stores. Most of the time it just annoys me unless it’s a song I happen to like.

I find it quite pleasant. I'm into some hectic rock, but sometimes you just wanna chill with some tunes you don't need to actively listen to.

I disagree. It makes me feel anxious. It has this sort of uncanny quality, it's a bit difficult to describe. It just feels "off".

And, now it's mood media. I would actually use that in some of my own soundtracks.

This makes me think of the music that is played in many shops in the uk
The music can range from generic and boring to cheesy and tacky. I would guess that it’s cheaply licensed stuff because companies don’t like spending money.

Supermarket aside, I don't see how it was discontinued in workplaces, i would love to work in a place with the kind of music and they even consider the music fatigue time

Noooo you wouldn't. Use to work in retail grocery store for several years part time. Same 250 or so songs get old- Especially the ones you don't like. Just over and over. When shopping you don't really notice, but when you're forced to listen, it is very apparent you've heard each song probably hundreds of times
