The Collings: extremely airy and woody sounding...sounds phenomenal. That OM is so shimmery with the overtones...also gritty. Both sound so beautiful in different ways. Your playing, as always, soulful and classy.
There is an organic woodiness to the Mahogany that's always my favorite. But I think the OM28 Cutaway amplified might be an exceptional gigging guitar. I'm gonna find out soon. I have 5 gigs in a row starting tomorrow! I don't have a pickup in the Collings OM1C yet so it's staying home for now. Such a sweet guitar.
I live 1 hour away from the Collings Factory, so there are Collings all over the place here. The saying around here is, Collings is just a better sounding Martin. lol. I heard more articulation from the Mahogany. A little cleaner. The Martin was a little richer, deeper and "reverby" or had overtones. I have several Martin OM's. My gigging guitar. You can't go wrong with either. For me, it then comes to which I can get amplified better. Right now, I'm happy with the Martin fishman/aura sound.
Totally relate to the Collings being an enhanced Martin. Not sure if I would say better although I often prefer my Collings guitars. I have a Martin D-18 cutaway that is simply incredible and this OM-28 Custom is very impressive. Not sure I’ll stick with the Fishman Aura VT enhance. For whatever reason it will not work with my sennheiser XSW wireless. And the battery life pales in contrast to my Baggs Anthem guitars.

If you’re ever in the area hit me up! Thanks for stopping by.
Both sound quite good ... & Mahogany tends to suit my ears just fine ... Thank you, I've been considering both of these models for my next acquisition

I am always a Rosewood guy seems to always come out that way for me. And all my guitars are Rosewood, go figure... My pick is the Martin.
Thanks for stopping by. This Martin is superb for sure. I usually prefer Mahogany but I’m really glad I found this OM-28 Custom cutaway.

On this review the Martin wins. Deeper full sound.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It is excellent without a doubt!
